Screenwriting, pre-production, producing, directing, camera techniques, and editing (Adobe Premiere) skills are all taught. Our Cinematography program delves into lighting, shot composition and offers hands-on experience with professional equipment. The Film Production Lab gives students the chance to be part of making a film from scratch without the pressure of doing it all - either 2 or 3 weeks are dedicated to writing, producing, and editing one film as a group.

Acting for Film: Students are introduced to the Method and Meisner techniques and able to immediately put their new skills to work in student films. Actors work with photographers in the studio to get their head shots; work on monologue and audition techniques; scene study; and an acting reel (3 week program only).

They film a dance video as well as perform live at the end of the session. Three week students do two pieces - both dance videos and live performances. Advanced dancers can join for our 3 week Dance Conservatory program and focus the last week on choreographing a solo which will be shot and edited - great for auditions or applications!

Screenwriting: Hone your skills in an intensive screenwriting course over one, two, or three weeks. Work closely with other writers and benefit from regular feedback and critique from your peers and instructor as you work on the first act of a feature or the script for a short film. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Helping Hands is a service-learning camp for young children. Service-learning is often confused with community service, but they are different. While volunteerism and community service are components of the service-learning education model, service-learning emphasizes both service and learning and requires participants to use their knowledge and skills to address real-life needs in their own communities. At Camp Helping Hands, campers will achieve this goal by following the four phases of the service-learning process: investigation, planning, taking action, and reflection. When led through this collaborative process, students share and invest their ideas and skills and feel truly committed to the project and to making a difference.

Camp Helping Hands Summer Camps are offered in multiple locations throughout Ventura and Los Angeles counties and provide a fun and safe place for children ages 6 through 14 where they enjoy sports activities, games, swimming, arts and crafts, music, and more. But the real mission behind CHH is showing kids how they can make a difference and have fun doing it. Through engaging inquiry-based lessons and weekly service field trip expeditions, our campers learn leadership skills, develop compassion, and grow confident as they address real-world problems by taking action in their community.

Camp Helping Hands Summer Camps are four-week programs that provide fun and educational service-learning opportunities within several different segments of your community. Each summer program has an overarching theme, and each week of programming supports that theme. For CHH campers to receive the full benefits of service-learning, it is important to embrace this four-week approach, though one and two-week options are available. In addition to each week's service projects and field trips, CHH campers also swim, play sports activities and games, sing songs, do arts and craft projects, and much more.

CHH places campers according to age into four age groups: Junior Helpers (6 and 7), Young Advocates (8 and 9), Super Agents (10 and 11), and Chief Aides (12 and 13/14). Each group contains 15 to 17 campers and is led by three counselors who guide them through age-appropriate activities. Chief Aides, our oldest age group, are Junior Counselors-in-/training (Jr.CIT's). In addition to participating in camp activities like our younger campers, they assist team counselors and camp administration with tasks as needed.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: The Camp Helping Hands Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program is designed for teens who have completed their freshman year of high school. Camp Helping Hands CITs gain new skills as they learn what it is like to work at camp under the direct supervision of our Team Counselors.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: We offer scholarships. Please visit the website to apply. Our Camp Website Link: www.camphelpinghands.com

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Camp Helping Hands (CHH) began as a summer camp project and has become the premier service-learning summer camp for young children serving the Conejo and San Fernando Valleys. Today, CHH also offers Family Days, a one-day service program designed for parents who wish to serve alongside their children; Holiday Camps, one-week day camps that provide a glimpse of our summer program and occur during school winter and spring breaks; and Host A Camp, an opportunity to license and operate a CHH summer camp in your community.

OTHER CAMP INFO: We currently have two locations and are planning to expand to other locations in California and other states. If you are interested in running a Camp Helping Hands we offer affordable licensing options.

Our camps and programs are offered locally throughout over 500 communities. The format includes traditional week-long summer day camps and year-round after-school programs that range from 45 minutes to 6 hours in duration, per day. Our progression of camps and programs, led by our expert staff, are generated toward youth looking for a sport introduction or those who want to refine and master their sport-specific skills.

For Detailed Information on ALL of our summer sports camps, please visit our website at Our Camp Website Link: www.skyhawks.com.

Our coaches and site directors make a significant difference to your child's on-field experience. Chosen for their strong personal character, responsibility, and capacity to effectively communicate sports skills to youth, our staff will make the extra effort every time to ensure that your children have the best on-field/court experience, emphasize teamwork, and learn life skills through sports. Our staff are required to complete our extensive certification process.

OTHER CAMP INFO: Skyhawks Sports Camps are SAFETY FOCUSED!

At Skyhawks we go the extra mile to focus on safety, and we have a long-standing proven safety track record and processes to prove it. For example, all Skyhawks Sports camps start and end with our unique safety process called "Gate System and Parking Lot Duty." This process is where coaches come and greet both parents and campers in the parking lot when parents pull up to drop off their children.

Our staff guide the kids onto the field/court and out of harm's way by funneling them into our gate system. Eye contact is maintained from each one of our staff members until the kids make it onto the field/court where they are grouped by age. This efficient process ensures safety. Additionally, it develops a level of trust between parent, coach, and child that ultimately leads to a fun and skill-focused camp for youth.

- Perseverance and flexibility when things don’t go as planned

Founded in 2009, on the belief that kids are naturally compassionate and want to make a difference in the world. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: YEA Camp is a unique and inspiring leadership summer camp for youth 12-17 who care about community service, activism and social justice. A week-long sleep-away program in a beautiful camp location, YEA is designed to be a fun and transformative experience that builds life-long friendships between youth with similar interests. Our program also provides a meaningful opportunity for campers to learn more about some of the issues facing our planet and to get inspired and empowered to take action on those issues.

Campers choose an issue of importance to them (for example, some have chosen climate change, racism, homophobia, homelessness, animal rights) and at YEA they build the knowledge, skills, confidence, and community to take action on that issue long after camp is over. Youth who have participated in our programs report that the camp was one of the most fun, rewarding and life-changing experiences they have had, and, with YEA's community support, have gone on to start school clubs, plan fundraisers for nonprofits, organize community clean-ups, and attend hearings to comment about important community issues.
