The Learnatory Esports & Coding STEAM Camps are for those passionate about video games and excited to code! National Esports Champions teach rising 3rd thru 11th graders proven strategies and provide personal VOD analyses of their gameplay in: Fortnite, Roblox, Minecraft, Rocket League. Coding & Game Design STEAM Summer Camps include: SCRATCH, JavaScript, Python, C# thru Unity.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Through The Learnatory In-School, After-School, Home-School, Weekend, Summer Camps, and online programs, The Learnatory, has served over 12,000 college-bound youth and teens in Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York City effectively and significantly boost their academic, personal, and career development. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: A native of Scotland, Ben Maxwell has been coaching in the USA for 13 years. Ben has coached in 10 states, and has been settled in California for 10 years. In his time in California, Ben has proven to be one of the top youth soccer coaches, notably when it comes to the long term technical development of the player.

Camp is open to ages 9-16, of any ability level. Youth soccer players have the opportunity to train for the best through presentations, on field training, small sided games and a video evaluation.

Make A Movie Camp
A different film is made each week.
Students will write and star in their own original short film.
We will guide them as they take their thoughts and ideas to the page, and from the page to the screen. This is a one-of-a-kind experience, and we are thrilled to be able to to see what ideas our students come up with and help make it a reality on screen!

CAMP FACILITIES: SOAR has two major Base Camp facilities: one in Balsam North Carolina where we have rustic cabins, a dining pavilion, on site showers/bathrooms, high and low ropes course, as well as several gathering campfire locations. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: J-Camp's management team carefully selects all summer staff. Pre-interview essays determine candidates' outlooks, experience and intentions. CAMP FACILITIES: The Control Room is a 28,754-square foot facility with a minimum of 30' clear height, to allow members and players all the room they need to get creative with the ball. CAMP FACILITIES: Quest Therapeutic Camps of Southern California is a day camp that builds camp programming in at the park and we have field trips in the community to the beach and other local Southern California attractions.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Quest Therapeutic Camps of Southern California is accredited by the American Camp Association, and offers 7 weeks of summer day camps in Huntington Beach for children with mild to moderate difficulties behaviorally, emotionally or socially.

Children who participate in Quest programming often have diagnoses of ADHD, anxiety, Asperger's Disorder, depression, learning disabilities and/or social problems.

Quest Camps provide:

1) Individualized behavior plans;
2) Group therapy four times per week;
3) Occupational therapy services to assist children in building their skills in self-regulation, sensory processing, motor skill development and bilateral coordination;
4) A 6 to 1 camper to staff ratio;
5) Parent meetings with home therapeutic goal development;
6) Consistent positive interventions;
7) Engaging fun activities for campers such as rock climbing, soccer, arts and crafts, and field trips such as high-ropes courses, trips to Knott's Berry Farm, The Discovery Science Center, The Ocean Institute, and beach days.

Quest utilizes a comprehensive therapeutic system that provides a treatment plan individualized for each child. By observing the child in camp activities throughout the day, our staff is able to see how problems present themselves.

Jodie Knott, Ph.D., camp director and licensed clinical psychologist, coordinates the Quest treatment program. She has created and facilitated therapeutic, experiential learning interventions for children for over 12 years and specializes in the assessment and treatment of attention and learning disorders, in addition to mood disorders.

Quest staff is trained to provide positive intervention to teach new, constructive behaviors. Counselors provide verbal support for accomplishments and directions for areas of improvement. By developing an open and nurturing environment where children feel accepted and respected, campers make positive changes because they feel safe to try new behaviors.

We are very proud at Quest to now have evidence-based research that supports what parents and professionals have seen for over twenty years! During the summer of 2008, 155 families participated in an independent research study by Lisa Greenberg to measure the effectiveness of Quest's therapeutic program. The results demonstrated treatment benefits rarely seen in psychological programs. Quest was found to provide effective individualized treatment for children 6-18 years old with mild to moderate behavioral, emotional and/or social problems.

Significant reductions in hyperactivity, impulsivity, aggression and inattention were found, along with improvements in peer relations, family relations, athletic competency, behavioral control and self-esteem. Behavioral problems were found to decrease not only at camp, but also at home, school and everyday life.

Children who come to Quest struggling to make friends, handling frustration and conquering their fears, leave with increased self-esteem and improved peer and family relationships. Their fears and frustrations are reduced and behavioral problems become less influential in their lives.

In addition, Quest parents have consistently rated Quest highly. Specifically, rating very high satisfaction with the overall summer program, quality of staff, individualized goals and behavior ratings, campers' enjoyment, and the ability to keep their child's interest.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Quest’s After School Program consists of three 10-week sessions each school year. Children and adolescents attend the after school program once a week for two hours (from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m.) and are grouped based on age and ability.

The Afterschool Program employs the Quest System, and includes an activity hour to work with the campers in a naturalistic environment and an hour of small-group therapy to focus on individual goals and group dynamics. Campers participate in a field trip once every ten-week session.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: LVCC MUSICAL THEATRE WORKSHOP was born of a passion for helping children discover confidence and learn life skills in the process of creating Musical Theatre. We know that many valuable life skills can be developed in the process of creating ART, especially when the creation process takes place with collaboration.

LVCCMTW is a place where the individual is nurtured, cared about and supported. We believe in positivity and unique expression. We have a "zero-tolerance" policy on negativity. This camp is a place where loving, encouraging, creativity takes place and character building elements are valued and taught. We believe that we are helping to "BUILD BETTER HUMANS THROUGH MUSICAL THEATRE" by focusing on collaboration, acceptance,creativity, respect, friendship, and individual expression. We build these elements into everything we do.

During each one-week session, 120 Campers are divided, by age, into seven groups: Preschool - High School.
Each group spends the week from 9-3 each day attending sessions in ACTING, DANCE, MUSIC, STAGECRAFT and THEATRE ARTS,creating a unique, original Musical Theatre Production for performance at the Friday Night Showcase.

Each age group is joined by trained, experienced, caring counselors who accompany them throughout their day. We believe in personal attention to each camper, therefore we keep our camper to counselor ratio very small. In our preschool 1/2 day program, our ratio is 3 campers to one counselor. This ratio increases only slightly with each age group. Our maximum ratio is in the 9th-10th grade Leadership Training program, where the ratio is only 6:1. We believe that adhering strictly to this ratio allows each camper maximum support for their individual creative expression and gives our staff an opportunity to relate to every camper individually.

Our caring instructors are skilled, educated, and experienced in their craft and have a passion for helping kids discover their skills, talents and self confidence in each of the respective elements of Musical Theatre creation.

Stagecraft: Campers will make (or assist in making) their own sets, props and costumes, using age-level based artistic expression, creative and technical skills.

Dance: Campers will be taught a dance and will learn dance terms and basic dance moves. They will learn or improve their ability to be comfortable with dance and with moving their bodies.

Acting: campers will learn and rehearse their scene for the showcase. As age/ability increases, campers also participate in writing their own lines, some of the scene, or the whole scene.

Music: campers learn the song for their performance. They will focus on basic musical terms and concepts. As age/ability increases, campers participate in solo and small group singing, understanding and performing harmony and lyric writing/music composition skills.

Theatre Arts: Campers gain understanding of the concepts and ideas needed to fully comprehend their scene/character for the performance showcase. As age/ability increases, campers participate in character development, exploration of personal strengths/goals, collaborative creation process.

Preschool/Kinder students attend a 1/2 day camp where some of these classes are combined. All other campers attend full day camp.

9th/10th grade campers also attend child development class and leadership training and function as an instructor assistant for some of the day as part of our Leadership Training Certification Program.

All of our staff are highly trained in positive interaction skills and have a passion for children and for the arts.

CAMP FACILITIES: ODC Dance Commons, a 23,000 square foot building located at 351 Shotwell St. (between 17th and 18th streets), offers an environment where professionals, emerging artists, students, and dance fans can congregate, exchange ideas and inspire one another. 1. Camp Challenge Four-Week JROTC Leadership Development Program.

This camp is the only credit-producing Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) summer leadership course west of the Mississippi. The course is open to both male and female high school students (entering Grades 9 through 12.) The course consists of a combination of classroom work combined with adventure training activities and will reward successful participants with 180 hours of Leadership Education and Training (LET) Credit.

During the course, participants will develop self-confidence as leaders and as active team members as well as enhance his/her Core Values; Honor, Integrity, Responsibility, Loyalty, and Selfless Service. Additionally, this course is designed to add “Leadership” to Resumes and College Applications.

2. Camp Challenge Two-Week High School Leadership Education and Training.

This two-week leadership camp is designed for both male and female students (entering Grades 9 through 12) who are unable to attend the four-week JROTC Course but who are still interested in achieving a leadership training experience. Camper will choose one of the following electives for their focus: Leadership, Aviation,Computer Science, or ESOL.

3. Camp Challenge Two-Week Middle School Leadership Development Programs (LDP), Basic and Advanced.

LDP Basic is an introduction to leadership for students interested in exploring potential and enhancing existing skills while learning the fundamentals of citizenship. Campers gain invaluable life skills through fun activities and adventure based challenges that reinforce teamwork, accountability, discipline, and respect.

LDP Advanced can be taken after completion of LDP Basic and offers an advanced curriculum in leadership combined with an introduction to subjects that will help prepare campers for high school. This course focuses on the core values of responsibility , loyalty, and selfless service.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: California Theatre Center's Core Conservatory is a full-day theatre experience for students with or without prior theatre training. Students work hands-on with CTC's professional teaching artists in acting, movement and voice classes. All students are cast in a play that is performed for the public on the final two days. In this process-based Conservatory, the students also design and build all props, sets, costumes, tickets and programs as they engage in and learn about every aspect of live theatre. CAMP FACILITIES: At Natoma, we sleep under the stars on cots. We also have a swimming pool with water slide, archery and hatchet ranges, dining hall, fire ring, miles of trails, drama platform, and a perennial creek.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Natoma has been providing a week of sleeping under the stars, an experience campers will remember for a lifetime, since 1941. It is operated by Friends of Camp Natoma, a non-profit organization, and is an American Camping Association (ACA) Accredited Camp. An experienced educator and visual culture historian, Dr. Romanenko specializes in Museum education, art history, American History, and object-based learning in formal and informal environments. She holds a PhD in Art History from the City University of New York and for more than 15 years teaches art history and works in Museum education. She also holds a BA in Education Sciences and has experience in research, development and implementation of educational programs for different age groups.

Alicia Mino, Art Educator, Manager of the School and Community Programs

An accomplished practicing artists and art educator, Alicia Mino received her Master’s in visual communication from the Metropolitan University of Chile, She spent fifteen years in Italy studying art history, oil painting, and sculpture. She presented in numerous art exhibitions and founded the Mates Art and Design Studio, where she taught drawing, oil/acrylic painting, and sculpture fundamentals for ten years. In 2008 Alicia moved to Philadelphia where she continues to exhibit her work and teaches art.

Lindsey Murphy, Art Educator and K-8 Program Coordinator

An art educator with over a decade of experience in the field of education, Lindsey Murphy has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology; concentration in Archaeology from Millersville University, and an Elementary Teaching Certification from Millersville University. She worked as a general education classroom teacher in the Oxford Area School District in Chester County, PA for 8 years, and has worked in PAFA’s education department over the past 11 years creating and implementing numerous museum tours and art making experiences for children and families of all backgrounds, becoming the K-8 Program Coordinator in 2019..

Melissa Hendrixson, Art Educator

Melissa Hendrixson is an artist and art educator who has worked in Museum Education for over five years. She has her Bachelor's of Fine Arts and Studio Certificate from Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and has gained experience through assisting the coordination and development of various museum programming including family programs, youth art classes, and summer camps. She now works for the School and Community Partnership Program as an art educator where she develops and implements museum tours, school lessons, and community outreach programs to support student learning, parental engagement and visual literacy initiatives.

CAMP FACILITIES: Our 200 acre property contains forest land, a swimming pond, activity fields and hiking trails. We have 14 cabins, a dining hall, meetinghouse and a large community garden attached to our farm lands and orchard.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Summer Camp - Ages 8-14: Campers come for 1 week or two week session (and some for 3, 4, or 5 weeks!) and go on wilderness trips. Each week there are 3 day, 2 night trips to Tahoe, the Sierra Buttes, and/or the Yuba River.

Teen Leadership Camp - Ages 15-16: These exciting programs takes the Summer Camp experience to a whole new level for 15 and 16 year olds: We offer a two-week hiking program, a one-week farming and cooking program, and a two-week bike repair and bike touring program.

Hiking Program (Two weeks): TLCers will spend two days bonding, learning about their trip, and preparing for hiking. They and their trip leaders will then embark on a 10-day backpacking trip along the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). They will then return to camp, and will have two days of closure at the end.

Farming & Cooking Program (One week): TLCers will spend their week working in Woolman's organic garden, learning about farming, plants and the farm to table journeys of the food we eat. They will learn nutrition and cooking skills as they prepare many of their meals with the fruits and vegetables harvested.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: An advanced class for high achieving high school students interested in pursuing a career in medicine or related fields, such as pharmacy, nursing, biomedical research or drug development. Through engaging lectures and hands-on laboratory classes, students learn about normal molecular and cellular biology from PhD-level instructors, and then learn how these normal processes are distorted to cause the development of cancer. A similar style is used to teach Molecular Neuroscience, Molecular Immunology and Molecular Biology of Development and Aging. The Hayward La-Honda Music Camp is organized to challenge students in a variety of creative pursuits and is devoted to the development of musicianship for students grades 6-12. The camp mission is to inspire young people to achieve their best musically, to enjoy a great social/recreational experience and take home memories that will last a lifetime. CAMP FACILITIES: Beautiful and recently renovated Black Box Theater. It has a stage and comfortable back stage. All of our props and backgrounds are designed and created by hand. Elevated seating that can fit up to 90 people. There is a ticket booth and a functioning restroom. Different types of lighting: black light, fluorescent, stage lighting, rope lighting, and a disco ball. A working sound board, music, and up-to-date stereo system. We utilize different media options as well.

A few buildings away is our main office, where rehearsals may sometimes be held. It has 3 spacious rehearsal rooms, each with a baby grand piano.

Since the plays we do are musicals, the actors and actresses will learn the basics of singing. It includes, reading music, matching pitch, group and possibly solo singing, tempo, and rhythms. Our choreographer will teach dance positions, dance moves, rhythm, counting, and tempo.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: This immersion is for students who have just completed grades 8-12 with at least two consistent years of modern dance training. The focus to immerse intermediate and advanced students in a rigorous week of training designed to enhance and support their technical proficiency in modern dance. Each day, students will take ballet and modern technique classes along with a variety of additional classes including inversions, floor work, phrase work and more. Staff includes Shawl-Anderson faculty and other Bay Area guest artists.

A typical day includes:
Pilates
Ballet Technique (two levels)
Special Topics
Lunch
Modern Technique (two levels)
Conditioning for Dance
Yoga/Stretch
Shawl Anderson Dance

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Shawl-Anderson Dance Center offer youth dance classes year round in modern, ballet, hip hop and jazz for ages walking to 18.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Sergei Beloglasov
Sergei Beloglasov is considered by many to be one of the best wrestlers and technicians of all time! Competing for the Soviet Union, Beloglazov dominated the 57 kg division during the 1980's. He won Olympic gold medals at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow and the 1988 Olympic Games in Barcelona & also claimed six World Championship gold medals (1981, 1982, 1983, 1985, 1986, 1987). His amazing gold-medal winning streak was only interrupted in 1984, when the Soviet Union boycotted the Los Angeles Olympic Games.

Recognized by his peers to be one of the best minds in the sport, Sergei is former National Coach for both USA Wrestling and Russia, two of the perennial powerhouses on the International Wrestling scene. Beloglasov is considered one of the best clinicians in the world, and for four years was the Head F.I.L.A. instructor for their International Wrestling Seminar held in Rome.

Rico Chiapparelli
Founder of R1 Training Center and a former amateur wrestling champion. Rico has won every U.S. National Championships from Schoolboy thru Open divisions in Freestyle. He is a three time NCAA All-American & Big 10 Champion from the University of Iowa. An NCAA Champion, Chiapparelli also went on to become a U.S. National Team member & World Cup Champion.

OTHER CAMP INFO: This clinic is aimed at the Junior High and High School aged wrestlers.

Sometimes a focused and mature younger wrestler can attend but this is an exception!
