CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Leaders-in-Training, ages 13-15
• 2-week session from July 24 - August 5
The LIT program is a two-week session designed for teens who are still looking to attend camp, while also developing valuable leadership skills useful for the road ahead. As a group, LITs work through our challenge courses, assist counselors with instruction, and grow as leaders in a community – both at camp and in the “real world.” Our leadership programs focus on effective communication and collaboration, while also defining what it means to be a leader.

Counselors-in-Training, ages 15-17
• 2-week session from July 10-22
At the end of this two-week session, CIT campers will leave feeling confident in their leadership, mentorship, and teaching skills, and will be prepared to serve in this role both at camp, and in their communities. During the first week, CIT campers will gain insight into all aspects of a counselor’s job at camp. Mirroring camp’s own staff training, CITs will participate in a series of activities that address such topics as basic child development and behavior management, counseling techniques and best practices, communication and leadership, environmental stewardship, and community service. The second week of the CIT program acts as an internship, where CITs are placed with cabin groups where they shadow staff, and experience what it takes to be a summer camp counselor.

Sessions culminate with large-scale performances in our state-of-the-art theater. At Harand Camp...No Man is an Island...and EVERYONE is a STAR!

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: The Mission of the Harand Camp Scholarship Fund is to provide camp scholarships to young people, ages 7 to 18, from diverse and "at risk" backgrounds, who have an interest in music, dance, drama, or technical theater, and have financial need. We are dedicated to making camp accessible for children of all backgrounds. To ensure this, the Harand Camp Scholarship Fund offers a sliding scale of aid to low- and middle-income families. Visit Our Camp Website Link: harandcamp.com

OTHER CAMP INFO: Schedule: Campers spend half the day in theater classes and the other half in activity classes of their own choosing. Evenings and Sundays include a rotating schedule of rehearsals, cabin nights, and all-camp events and games. Living: Upon arrival, our campers (ages 7 - 18) are divided into "cabins" by age and reside together in the dorms (2-3 per room).

Food: Meals are served three times a day in the dining hall which features many options, including a salad bar, and frozen yogurt.

Performing Arts Program: Harand Camp adheres to a non-competitive philosophy where everyone is a star (the primary goal is for all campers to build self-confidence & self-esteem). In preparation for final performances, campers take daily classes in singing, dancing, and dramatics in the morning or afternoon. Occasional rehearsals are held in the evening (alternating with activities & events). Each session then culminates with a large-scale performance for friends, family, and alumni in a state-of-the-art theatre.

First 3-Week Session (Pageant) - Campers participate in a full-length musical revue involving the entire camp. Each age group prepares two sections of non-stop singing and dancing and appear on stage no less than three times.

Past Harand Camp pageants include: Tributes to Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Movie Musicals, Women of Broadway, the Tony Awards, Broadway Rock Musicals, etc.

Second 3-Week Session (Shows) - During the second three weeks, each age group prepares a full-length show. Unlike at other camps, Haranders have the chance to take on leading roles, as well as learn how to be a part of the ensemble ensuring that every camper receives the full musical theatre experience.

Electives and Activities: In addition to the theatre program, campers also register for three periods of elective activities per day. The camp operates on an alternating schedule of A-Days (M, W, F) and B-Days (Tu, Th, Sa), so campers actually have six classes of their own choosing. Examples may include Soccer, Basketball, Swimming, Volleyball, Badminton, Cheerleading, Tennis, Fitness, Zumba, Technical Theatre, Costuming, Improv, Audition Coaching, Story Theatre, Hip Hop, Tap, Photography, Film & Video, Arts & Crafts, Creative Writing, Board Games, etc. When not rehearsing in the evening, campers enjoy cabin nights and events, as well as all-camp competitions, concerts and excursions.

The activity schedule may include the following: talent shows, campfires, Action Territory (entertainment park), beach excursions, skating, Family Feud and Trivia competitions, hobby nights, carnivals, dances, karaoke, bowling, and more.

CAMP FACILITIES: Our philosophy is based around designing inclusive social groups that allow for participants to express themselves and have a say in the experience. Participants will set the schedule, control the route, and are given the freedom to develop their own games and activities while on our programs.

Participants will sleep in tents (excepting sailing programs, where accommodations are typically on the boats themselves). Participants will typically travel daily, learning to prepare their own meals on fires and camp stoves, setting up their own schedules, learning outdoor skills (survival skills, map and compass, etc...), and learning about group dynamics.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Crystalaire has been offering alternative outdoor adventure education experiences for almost a century. Our staff are highly trained, and will have lifeguarding and wilderness medicine certifications as well as prior experience. We believe in creating playful and inclusive trips in wild places that offer meaningful experiences for all participants. We consider each trip to be a "microsociety," and give our participants the chance to weigh in and decide how they want that "microsociety" to function, how they want people to be treated, and how they want group decisions to be made.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: 16 and 17 year old campers are welcome to join us on our Cojourn, a 3-week outdoor leadership intensive that focuses on our group management and social dynamics curriculum. More information can be found online.

18 - 21 year old applicants can join our Apprenticeship program for a 4-6 week intensive training in outdoor leadership. This is a paid internship.

Our programs are designed to help players achieve their maximum potential through progressive exercises that are individually challenging, as well as appropriate to the age and ability of each player.

We fly in our coaches directly from the Netherlands. They are not merely coaches: they are also teachers. Many of our coaches have graduated from a four- year CIOS College. At the Central Institution of Sports, coaches not only received their coaching licenses from the global leader in soccer development: KNVB (Royal Dutch Soccer Federation) but also learn how to work with, encourage and incentivize young athletes. At Camp Jorn you will often hear the phrase "the magic of CJ," and those words may be the best way to describe what children walk away with after participating in our programs.

Camp is a place where children can come from all different backgrounds, be free of all outside influences, and learn about who they are and who they have the potential to be. A sailing class is not just a lesson how to sail, but how to work as a team, how to deal with challenges, how to persevere, and develop a real sense of pride in themselves & their accomplishments. We strongly believe that a camp experience has the ability to teach children in a way that they can't experience elsewhere.

Timbertop is an overnight camp designed for boys and girls that have been identified by their School District as needing extra help for a special learning need. Specific learning disabilities may include: OHI, ADHD, ADD, LD and SLD. Youth receiving support services such as Leveled Learning Intervention (LLI), Reading Support and Title 1, are also eligible.

Timbertop combines traditional camp activities with extra reading practice and special group activities that focus on dealing with learning differences in a structured daily setting. We are dedicated to providing a safe, fun and small group environment, which develops the spirit, mind and body of each individual. Camp is a special place where youth and teens learn about the environment, develop positive values, make meaningful friendships, build positive peer relationships, learn new skills and increase self-confidence. In our community of caring adults Timbertop summer camp helps kids grow and find themselves.

Our History:
This year we will be celebrating the 54th anniversary of Timbertop! Timbertop was founded in 1967 and operated by the Association for Services for Learning Disabilities, a non-profit organization that sponsors camping for children with learning disabilities. Timbertop Camp Inc. is now operated by a Volunteer Board of Directors.

Camp Details:
Timbertop is a 7 day outdoor adventure where campers will learn outdoor skills and participate in activities designed to enhance their cooperative abilities and interpersonal relationships. An emphasis is placed on building self-esteem and how to make and keep friends. Whether building a campfire, cleaning the cabin or learning how to handle a canoe, each camper learns to share the responsibility of camp life. The daily schedule includes: reading instruction, swim lessons, cabin activities, camp classes (such as nature exploration, canoeing, arts & crafts, archery, fishing, games and more), evening campfires, stargazing and all-camp programs.

Camp Leadership/Directors:
Timbertop Camp is operated by a volunteer Board of Directors. Our volunteers/staff are selected for their leadership skills and their ability to provide a meaningful and safe camp experience for youth with Learning Disabilities. Volunteers/Staff have an understanding of youth with special needs and the unique potential of each child. There is a ratio of one adult to every six campers.

Rhoda Brooks “Wings”, (Camp Founder) holds an M.A. in Special Education and has way over 30 years of teaching and administrative experience.

Nancy Reuter “Spirit” has worked with Timbertop since 1992 and is a Special Education teacher in Mosinee, WI.

Pete Matthai “Timber” has been with Timbertop since 1991. He has been the Camp Director Since 1994. He has a BS degree from UWSP in Natural Resources – Youth Programming & Camp Management.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Choose the price tier you can best afford. We understand that different families have differing abilities to pay, so we have implemented three pricing levels to better accommodate all financial needs. Please consider selecting the highest tier you can afford to allow Timbertop Camp to best stretch our funding and continue to improve the quality of each camper’s experience.

Price C is our historically subsidized rate, which does not represent the true cost of camp, but has been our standard rate.

Price B is a partially subsidized rate, but more clearly reflects the actual cost of camp.

Price A most accurately reflects the actual cost of Timbertop Camp.

Our Tier Pricing Program in no way influences the experience your child(ren) will receive! We simply feel it is important to share with parents the true costs of Camp and give families the opportunity to decide how much they can contribute toward their child’s camp experience. Financial assistance is provided through donations to Timbertop Camp, Inc. and other generous clubs and organizations.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our top-notch dance choreographers bring the freshest dance combinations to our dance camps! They hail from the best dance studios, schools and performance groups.

ADTC choreographers have the most impressive dance resumes: they are Radio City Rockettes; Broadway & MTV performers; celebrities from your favorite dance TV shows; and collegiate dance team competitors.

No matter what level dancer you are, we’ve got fun & challenging dance classes that’ll fit you just right.

You’ll take four dance classes daily and at week’s end you get to show off your new moves in a big Friday night performance for family, friends and fellow campers.

In addition to core dance classes in contemporary, hip hop & jazz (styles of jazz vary and may include lyrical, modern or Broadway), you’ll choose between ballet, tap or world dance for your core elective dance class.

And we believe girls in our perfectionist culture need to get out and have more authentic fun! At ADTC you can enjoy awesome activities & extras like horseback riding, kayaking, paintball, trampolines, swimming, hiking, rock wall climbing, alpine slides, water rides, and so much more!

Join us this summer for your chance to take dance classes with the best choreographers in the world!

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: THE VOGELSINGER METHOD

Our goal is to create an environment—a GAME-LIKE ATMOSPHERE—through dynamic teaching and coaching by explanation, demonstration and participation to assist each player in creating a METHOD TO SELF-TEACH.

It is a painstaking STEP-BY-STEP method. We must create for you a crystal-clear picture of what we are trying to teach through demonstration and explanation. You must understand clearly and be able to picture every little detail in your MIND’S EYE. Moreover, you then have to see yourself performing it successfully, and physically feel it and emotionally experience it.

The ultimate goal of self-teaching is INTERNALIZING MOTIVATION and knowing where you are, where you want to be, and how to get there step-by-step. We say you “FAIL YOUR WAY TO SUCCESS” because with this method, mistakes become your guidelines.

You will become a BETTER PLAYER. You will become a BETTER PERSON, as you will learn how to work toward the goals that you set for yourself.

My hope is to spread that passion to anyone that attends the camp while also sharing any variety of the experiences I have been lucky enough to have during my time in the sport. There have been many valuable experiences both positive and negative that lead to shape a love for the sport that have brought me from a kid that did not want to run to someone that has made a career in the sport and a lifelong runner. Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

We Are Girl Scouts.

Girl Scouts bring their dreams to life and work together to build a better world.

Through programs from coast to coast, Girl Scouts of all backgrounds and abilities can be unapologetically themselves as they discover their strengths and rise to meet new challenges—whether they want to climb to the top of a tree or the top of their class, lace up their boots for a hike or advocate for climate justice, or make their first best friends.

Backed by trusted adult volunteers, mentors, and millions of alums, Girl Scouts lead the way as they find their voices and make changes that affect the issues most important to them.
