CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Leaders-in-Training, ages 13-15
• 2-week session from July 24 - August 5
The LIT program is a two-week session designed for teens who are still looking to attend camp, while also developing valuable leadership skills useful for the road ahead. As a group, LITs work through our challenge courses, assist counselors with instruction, and grow as leaders in a community – both at camp and in the “real world.” Our leadership programs focus on effective communication and collaboration, while also defining what it means to be a leader.
Counselors-in-Training, ages 15-17
• 2-week session from July 10-22
At the end of this two-week session, CIT campers will leave feeling confident in their leadership, mentorship, and teaching skills, and will be prepared to serve in this role both at camp, and in their communities. During the first week, CIT campers will gain insight into all aspects of a counselor’s job at camp. Mirroring camp’s own staff training, CITs will participate in a series of activities that address such topics as basic child development and behavior management, counseling techniques and best practices, communication and leadership, environmental stewardship, and community service. The second week of the CIT program acts as an internship, where CITs are placed with cabin groups where they shadow staff, and experience what it takes to be a summer camp counselor.
CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Camp Pepin has a variety of ways for your children and your family to reap the benefits of a camp experience. We offer families the choice of participating in a pre-camp payment plan that allows you to make smaller payments that fit your budget, as well as sibling and multiple session discounts. OTHER CAMP INFO: Schedule: Campers spend half the day in theater classes and the other half in activity classes of their own choosing. Evenings and Sundays include a rotating schedule of rehearsals, cabin nights, and all-camp events and games. Performing Arts Program: Harand Camp adheres to a non-competitive philosophy where everyone is a star (the primary goal is for all campers to build self-confidence & self-esteem). In preparation for final performances, campers take daily classes in singing, dancing, and dramatics in the morning or afternoon. Occasional rehearsals are held in the evening (alternating with activities & events). Each session then culminates with a large-scale performance for friends, family, and alumni in a state-of-the-art theatre.

My hope is to spread that passion to anyone that attends the camp while also sharing any variety of the experiences I have been lucky enough to have during my time in the sport. There have been many valuable experiences both positive and negative that lead to shape a love for the sport that have brought me from a kid that did not want to run to someone that has made a career in the sport and a lifelong runner. My aim is to impart some of the important lessons on those that attend the camp, while giving tips for training and developing a mental edge for competitions."

CAMP PROGRAM INFO:
This camp is centered around a strength-oriented approach to running, while consistently touching on speed or speed drills to improve or maintain running efficiency. Chris Solinsky has a belief that a successful distance athlete is one that finds a volume that not only challenges them, but also one that they can do consistently. If there is one secret in distance running it is that there are no secrets, but the key to success is safely pushing the limit consistently over time - this is what allows athletes to become so aerobically strong and to compete with the best!

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: A Wisconsin Summer Camp for Youth with Learning Disabilities / Differences. Timbertop is an overnight camp designed for boys and girls that have been identified by their School District as needing extra help for a special learning need. Specific learning disabilities may include: OHI, ADHD, ADD, LD and SLD. Youth receiving support services such as Leveled Learning Intervention (LLI), Reading Support and Title 1, are also eligible.
Timbertop combines traditional camp activities with extra reading practice and special group activities that focus on dealing with learning differences in a structured daily setting. We are dedicated to providing a safe, fun and small group environment, which develops the spirit, mind and body of each individual. Camp is a special place where youth and teens learn about the environment, develop positive values, make meaningful friendships, build positive peer relationships, learn new skills and increase self-confidence. In our community of caring adults Timbertop summer camp helps kids grow and find themselves.
Our History:
This year we will be celebrating the 54th anniversary of Timbertop! Timbertop was founded in 1967 and operated by the Association for Services for Learning Disabilities, a non-profit organization that sponsors camping for children with learning disabilities. Timbertop Camp Inc. is now operated by a Volunteer Board of Directors.
Camp Details:
Timbertop is a 7 day outdoor adventure where campers will learn outdoor skills and participate in activities designed to enhance their cooperative abilities and interpersonal relationships. An emphasis is placed on building self-esteem and how to make and keep friends. Whether building a campfire, cleaning the cabin or learning how to handle a canoe, each camper learns to share the responsibility of camp life. The daily schedule includes: reading instruction, swim lessons, cabin activities, camp classes (such as nature exploration, canoeing, arts & crafts, archery, fishing, games and more), evening campfires, stargazing and all-camp programs.
Camp Leadership/Directors:
Timbertop Camp is operated by a volunteer Board of Directors. Our volunteers/staff are selected for their leadership skills and their ability to provide a meaningful and safe camp experience for youth with Learning Disabilities. Volunteers/Staff have an understanding of youth with special needs and the unique potential of each child. There is a ratio of one adult to every six campers.
Rhoda Brooks “Wings”, (Camp Founder) holds an M.A. in Special Education and has way over 30 years of teaching and administrative experience.
Nancy Reuter “Spirit” has worked with Timbertop since 1992 and is a Special Education teacher in Mosinee, WI.
Pete Matthai “Timber” has been with Timbertop since 1991. He has been the Camp Director Since 1994. He has a BS degree from UWSP in Natural Resources – Youth Programming & Camp Management.
CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Choose the price tier you can best afford. We understand that different families have differing abilities to pay, so we have implemented three pricing levels to better accommodate all financial needs. Please consider selecting the highest tier you can afford to allow Timbertop Camp to best stretch our funding and continue to improve the quality of each camper’s experience.
Price C is our historically subsidized rate, which does not represent the true cost of camp, but has been our standard rate.
Price B is a partially subsidized rate, but more clearly reflects the actual cost of camp.
Price A most accurately reflects the actual cost of Timbertop Camp.
Our Tier Pricing Program in no way influences the experience your child(ren) will receive! We simply feel it is important to share with parents the true costs of Camp and give families the opportunity to decide how much they can contribute toward their child’s camp experience. Financial assistance is provided through donations to Timbertop Camp, Inc. and other generous clubs and organizations.

We fly in our coaches directly from the Netherlands. They are not merely coaches: they are also teachers. Many of our coaches have graduated from a four- year CIOS College. At the Central Institution of Sports, coaches not only received their coaching licenses from the global leader in soccer development: KNVB (Royal Dutch Soccer Federation) but also learn how to work with, encourage and incentivize young athletes. Every camp group will have the same Dutch coach for the entire week. Our coaches will get to know each of the players in their group and can coach them individually, assessing their needs and improving the specific areas best for them.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: THE VOGELSINGER METHOD
Our goal is to create an environment—a GAME-LIKE ATMOSPHERE—through dynamic teaching and coaching by explanation, demonstration and participation to assist each player in creating a METHOD TO SELF-TEACH.
It is a painstaking STEP-BY-STEP method. We must create for you a crystal-clear picture of what we are trying to teach through demonstration and explanation. You must understand clearly and be able to picture every little detail in your MIND’S EYE. Moreover, you then have to see yourself performing it successfully, and physically feel it and emotionally experience it.
The ultimate goal of self-teaching is INTERNALIZING MOTIVATION and knowing where you are, where you want to be, and how to get there step-by-step. We say you “FAIL YOUR WAY TO SUCCESS” because with this method, mistakes become your guidelines.
You will become a BETTER PLAYER. You will become a BETTER PERSON, as you will learn how to work toward the goals that you set for yourself.

Explore our website to learn more about our camp, and then call us to discuss your child’s interests. We’re looking forward to getting to know you.
Health & Safety
Herzl Camp provides medical coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at camp with full-time nurses and doctors. Our Marpeah (Health Center) staff care for all routine health issues at camp without charge. Emergency services are provided at nearby Burnett County Medical Center, a fully-equipped trauma center. Campers who take medications regularly must receive their prescriptions through our specialty prescription service.
Food
We serve three healthy, nutritious kosher meals and a Nosh (snack) each day. Whole grains, fresh veggies and ripe fruit are on the menu for every meal. Meals are served family-style with vegetarian options for all meals.
Judaics at Camp
As an independent, pluralistic camp, we’ve created uniquely "Herzl" Jewish programming and education, including daily Limmudim or T'fillot. Shabbat services are led by a different camper program each week with guidance from our Chinuch staff. At Herzl Camp, Conservative, Reconstructionist, Reform, and Modern Orthodox children pray and learn together daily.
Shabbat is a restful time at Herzl and rich with tradition. We dress in white and welcome Shabbat with song and a caravan to services. Candles are lit. Hands are washed. Kiddush. Motzi. A delicious meal followed by Birkat and singing. The Torah is read every week. Throughout Shabbat, we alter our activities to make the day more restful, more reverent, and different from the rest of the week. Shabbat ends with the entire camp participating in Havdala together.
CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Herzl Camp Financial Aid - Through generous donations from our friends and alumni, Herzl Camp offers need-based financial aid. ADTC choreographers have the most impressive dance resumes: they are Radio City Rockettes; Broadway & MTV performers; celebrities from your favorite dance TV shows; and collegiate dance team competitors.

OTHER CAMP INFO: Skyhawks Sports Camps are SAFETY FOCUSED!
At Skyhawks we go the extra mile to focus on safety, and we have a long-standing proven safety track record and processes to prove it. For example, all Skyhawks Sports camps start and end with our unique safety process called "Gate System and Parking Lot Duty." This process is where coaches come and greet both parents and campers in the parking lot when parents pull up to drop off their children.
Our staff guide the kids onto the field/court and out of harm's way by funneling them into our gate system. Eye contact is maintained from each one of our staff members until the kids make it onto the field/court where they are grouped by age. This efficient process ensures safety. Additionally, it develops a level of trust between parent, coach, and child that ultimately leads to a fun and skill-focused camp for youth.
