OTHER CAMP INFO: A MESSAGE FROM CARLI:

"I'm excited to be coming home to conduct another camp in New Jersey. It’s definitely one of the most exciting times of the year for me. I get to share my experiences with the campers and give them a glimpse of the training methods I use to improve my game.

I really enjoy helping the campers, not only with their skills, but also with the psychological aspects of the game. I love sharing my story and teaching these young athletes that in order to reach the top, you have to be willing to make sacrifices and stay dedicated. Knowing I’m able to provide this insight feels great—especially since I wish I knew these things when I was their age.

I will personally be there all day to make sure each camper has an experience like no other. Once again, my hope is that each athlete walks away knowing what it takes to reach the top."

Trail Blazers' day camp program based in beautiful Prospect Park, with three different drop off/pick up points available in Brooklyn. This program is heavily play-focused, with field trips around the city and day trips to our overnight camp included.

CAMP FACILITIES: Overnight campers experience life in the outdoors by living in teepees and canvas hogans in family-like small camps of 8 to 10 peers. Every small camp is equipped with canvas shelters housing up to 4 campers, running water for drinking and washing, a non-flushing latrine, and a fire circle for nightly pow wows, songs, and games. There are two centrally-located shower houses for daily hot showers, and a dining hall where breakfast and dinner are served family style.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: We believe that going outside is the best way for young people to grow within. That belief has been central for 130 years of helping young people develop the values and skills essential for productive citizenship.

Since 1887, Trail Blazers has sponsored thousands of children to take part in these outdoor adventures where learning happens experientially — by living and playing together, and experiencing the challenges and opportunities the natural environment offers. Today, Trail Blazers remains the second oldest summer program in existence in the United States, and the first to offer environmental education.

As an ACA accredited camp, we insure that all staff are trained professionals in their area. We certify American Red Cross Life Guards and recruit staff from all over the country and the world with a passion for youth development and the outdoors. Each staff member undergoes a skill screening, intensive interview, reference check, and background check. Staff also complete a two-week pre-camp training course covering all aspects of the Trail Blazers program to prepare for the important job of looking after your child's physical and emotional safety.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: The Leader-in-Training program at Trail Blazers is designed for current high school students who wish to develop leadership skills through active participation in different aspects of the Trail Blazers Sleep Away program. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: WHAT’S THE GIRLS LEADERSHIP SPECIAL SAUCE?

Professional & Crazy Fun Staff — Our Educators teach for us all year round. They live and breathe our renowned curriculum, and they’ve been practicing our trademark camp games for years, so they are more than ready to rumble.

Summer Program Director Cora Garner is an American Camp Association Member. She came to us after working at Cornell University, Stanford University, and most recently the University of California, Berkeley. Through her work in Higher Education, she has developed and taught courses that focus on identity and community development.

At Girls Leadership we want you to be true-to-you. Every day starts with community games. Our theatre-based workshops focus on developing personal and societal leadership, such as how to ask for what you need. In these sessions girls practice new tools for speaking up for themselves and for others.

We also create beautiful art projects, stay active outside, and always have a spirit theme for the day. These activities are designed to encourage girls to embrace who they are, reflect on what they believe, and give them an opportunity to express themselves creatively.

In our Teen Programs, emphasis is placed on enhancing an interest or skill, building a sense of independence, teaching a mature decision-making process and participating in positive community involvement.

All of our programs are designed to assist each teenager in taking the next step in their personal growth and development through a fun, safe, enriching, and challenge- based environment. All specialized supplies and equipment for each program are provided by Camp Vacamas at no additional cost.

The majority of our Teen Programs are scheduled in 19-day sessions matched to our Junior Camp schedule. Our Theater Program and our Leadership-In-Training Program (LIT) are both six-week sessions.

OUTDOOR ADVENTURE-BASED PROGRAMS Vacamas Teen Camp offers four Outdoor Journey-Based programs tailored to the interests of the adventurous teenager. They then embark on a journey of their choice ranging from Backpacking along the Appalachian Trail, Canoeing the Delaware River passing through New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, Biking through Pennsylvania Dutch Amish Country, or Novice Rock Climbing in Northwest New Jersey.

Our staff is professional, experienced and highly trained. Counselors are carefully selected for their ability to facilitate growth for our children and their motivation to work in our setting.

We provide a safe, secure, fun and motivating environment. A registered nurse is on site. Staff undergo thorough background checks. Staff to child ratio is 1:3 or better. Safety and security are carefully monitored.

You can submit limited portions of the Harbor Haven program to your insurance company for reimbursement. We can provide you with a codified bill after you have paid in full.

We are approved by Perform Care (formerly known as DDD.) Your child must be eligible for funding from this agency.

Other agencies such as Catholic Charities, Kiwanis and Knights of Pythias and Columbus have provided scholarships in the past.

All of the above must be pursued by the parents/guardians. Harbor Haven will be happy to complete any paperwork required of them.

CAMP LOCATION: LakeView is a beautiful, family run camp that quietly sits on 20 acres adjoining Farrington Lake in East Brunswick NJ. Lakeview has been around for over 75 years but our first 30+ years were spent as a sleep-away camp. This means our facilities, programs and atmosphere are very unique and really haveto be seen to be fully appreciated. Our activity offering is almost endless and is always evolving with the best in specialists and equipment. Our setting is second to none in the day camp world and allows for traditional sports and swimming instruction while also offering a huge variety of art program offerings and an amazing offering in outdoor adventure instruction in the woods, on the lake, out on the trails, or up on the ropes course.

CAMP FACILITIES: Wonderful enclosed bunks for each age group. Enclosed building for the dinning hall, gymnastics, all of the art classes and an amazing theater. Individual age specific fields for junior, intermediate, and senior sports including separate hockey, soccer, basketball and softball fields. Also tennis courts, a go-kart track, bungee trampoline and amazing high and low ropes course with elements ideally built for both 2nd grade and up as well as 1st grade and below. Our lake is 5 miles long and offers endless opportunities in sailing, canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding and with a beautiful pontoon boat for our little ones to just go exploring. There is not much we do not have available and with 20 acres the only thing we can not do on camp is ride mountain bikes for miles so we do that right next door on a 300 acre preserve. Looking forward to enriching and exploring with you!

Be as creative as you can in cooking, ceramics and woodshop or play to your hearts content in hockey, soccer, tennis, basketball, or even gaga. With a total camper to staff ratio of almost 3 to 1, well trained specialists, seasoned adult leadership team, and international staff to share their cultures and experiences, your children could not be in better hands. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Active Learning Services, Ltd operates enrichment programs designed to stimulate creative thinking, improve thinking, logic and memory skills and give children "thinking alternatives" to sports camps and other summer programs. Our programs include chess programs and camps thru USA Chess, Our Gamebuilder Video Game Creation Programs and our Active Learning Computer Enrichment Programs.

Our staff is, comprised of the best children's chess instructors in North America! The USA Chess camps are uniquely qualified to cater to the needs of the advanced scholastic player as well as the true beginner. USA Chess hit its first milestone in the summer of 2000 producing the largest chess camp ever held in the United States, with more than 250 students enrolled. What was most surprising, however, was the amount of absolute beginners in attendance - more than 50% of the total enrollment was just starting to play chess. This realization led to the national rollout tour of 100 camps in more than 70 cities. The annual tours have been immensely successful with several thousand campers attending this year alone.

USA Chess thrives on providing a structured environment that is extremely conducive to learning chess. We handpick the best children's chess instructors from all over the United States and bring them to each camp. We believe our team is most effective in teaching chess to children of all ages and levels. The exceptional organization and ever-fun curriculum has fueled much interest from scholastic players and coaches from around the country, prompting them to request USA Chess camps in their areas.

At the same summer camp locations, we also offer the immensely popular Gamebuilder Video Game Creation Camps, The Active Learning Computer Animation Programs, and other Computer Enrichment Programs such as Modding, Networking and Hosting with Minecraft. We now offer seven unique programs in all.

At these camps, children are assigned a computer for the week; they spend the week learning to create their own one-of- a- kind video games in our Gamebuilder Camps, Animation Projects in our Animation Camps, also Modding, Networking and Hosting with Minecraft.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Musical Theater Camp: In the morning we participate in skill-based classes in dance, acting and musical theater. After lunch there is a "wildcard" session in which we do something different each day. Past wildcards have included: master classes with Billy Elliot's (and the new film of Annie's) Stephanie Kurtzuba, master classes with film, T.V. and Broadway casting directors Paul Russell and Bobby Cline, workshop with technical director Brian Lynch, Hip-Hop Choreography, Theater Dance with Laura Chaneski, Playwriting, Poster Design, Musical Theater History and Voice Class.

The last two hours of camp is our Performance Workshop, where we will be preparing for our performance which will be held on the Friday night at the end of each session on a professional stage. Our staff boasts extensive professional credits including Broadway, Off-Broadway, National Tours, regional theater, concert stage, television, film, and commercials. One of our young campers from last summer went directly from our camp to a starring role on Broadway as Lulu in Sarah Bareilles' hit musical Waitress! She performed a number that she had learned at our camp during her Waitress audition.

The New Jersey Jazz Academy at Elefante Music hosts 2 summer camps: Elefante All-Star Jazz Ensemble Camp and Jammin' Jazz Juniors Camp. These camps are unique opportunities for experienced jazz players. Students will pick up solid skills to enhance their school ensembles Both camps culminate in a Friday night performance on the last day of camp.

Dance/Drama Intensive Camp: In Dance Intensive, students: - Learn a variety of dance styles - Improve overall technique - Take classes in: Ballet, Tap, Lyrical, Jazz, Modern, Hip Hop, Musical Theater & More! - Rehearse for the Dance Performance at end of week! At Rock Band Camp campers will play in a wide range of contemporary musical styles (rock, R&B, soul, etc.) and will learn what it's like to be "studio musicians" - artists who provide backing for bands and soloists in recording studios and in live performances. Rock camp culminates in a Friday night performance on the last day of camp.

At our NEW Percussion Camp, percussionists will work with internationally recognized guest artists and clinicians in many different percussion disciplines.
