Academic Leadership Summer Camps for Outstanding 4th-8th graders
Outstanding students meet in Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin/San Antonio, or Houston/Galveston for a week of fun, learning, leadership development, and visits to unique and historically significant Texas destinations. Each day students explore notable Texas sites, learn about unique careers from professionals at sites visited, and develop their leadership abilities during leadership groups with their facilitators.

All adult facilitators, one for every ten students, are Texas teachers. In addition to improving their leadership abilities, participants gain self-confidence and independence and develop new friendships with other high-achieving students. Participants must maintain an 85 or higher average and receive an educator recommendation based on demonstrated leadership ability.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The Youth Adventure Program (YAP) is a series of one week courses designed to encourage career exploration in the fields of interest to gifted and talented students. YAP is held on the College Station campus of Texas A&M University, and courses are taught by university professors and other professionals. During the late afternoon and evening hours, students will participate in social and recreation activities that may include a pool party, a night at the movies, an "Amazing Race" or Picture Scavenger Hunt team activity, and our heralded "Wacky Olympics" competition.

CAMP FACILITIES: Many of the buildings date back to the 1930's when Mo-Ranch was a working ranch and a family vacation location for the Moran family. Loma Linda is the lodging for our Summer Campers and has stayed true to its original purpose - housing for the youth programs. Loma Linda is air-conditioned and has four separate living areas with community bathrooms.

We have a high and low ropes course, indoor climbing wall, archery range, sports fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, outdoor cooking area, a Riverview nature classroom, a Youth Plaza, a swimming pool, and of course, the cool headwaters of the Guadalupe River. Our waterfront is designated for an awesome swimming experience with our famous Mo-Slide, a a rope swing, canoeing, kayaking, and playing in the rapids of the Guadalupe.

Meals are served in a modern cafeteria style dining hall. We call it the King Dining Hall. Our infirmary a fully equipped with a an available nurse twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week during our Summer Camp season.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Mo-Ranch Summer Camp provides a place where campers can feel safe and comfortable with their peers while being challenged, discovering, and growing in their relationship with Christ. The love of Christ is not only heard and read but also experienced throughout all of our activities: whether it be at the high ropes challenge course, while canoeing down the river, or mountain biking along our trails. Through developing independence and self-confidence, building strong relationships, experiencing new activities, and positive role modeling from the staff, we demonstrate the heart of the gospel message. CAMP FACILITIES: Camp Bette Perot is home to our award-winning Equestrian Program with a large riding arena and diverse riding trails. Camp program facilities include a swimming pool, extensive nature study sites, a sports/ game field, archery range, ropes course and climbing wall.

Camp facilities include the uniquely-designed air-conditioned Treehouse unit, three units made up of five air-conditioned cabins each and a platform tent unit located near the ropes course. Laird West Lodge is designed as an all-inclusive air-conditioned unit with bathroom facilities and program room inside. There are also two beautiful log cabins used for administration, programming and activities. Improv & Music Video Camp

Imagine being able to walk into any musical situation, pick up your instrument, and immediately jam along. That is the goal for Band Aid School of Music’s Summer Jam Improv Camp. The camp is open to all levels, styles and instruments, as we will take you from the origins of improvisation to applications for the modern musician. By the end of camp, you will have learned the scales, listening skills, and phrasing techniques that will enable you to jam with the best of them!

In the Music Video Camp attendees will shoot videos, learn camera techniques, editing, style, lighting, and more! Participants will be challenged to create new video concepts and be guided to produce and promote them on YouTube. Create a music video and premier it at our camp showcase.

On Friday, we’ll end the day with an inspiring belt ceremony and demonstration for parents.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: We offer a CIT (Counselor in Training) program for 15-16 year olds who are looking to take the next steps to becoming a counselor. This is a three week program, the first two weeks the CITs will spend training and doing activities/team-building games to get them ready for the last week which they spend shadowing current counselors and working directly with younger children at our other two camps!

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: The YMCA is a not for profit organization and we raise money every year to help EVERY FAMILY find a way to send their children to camp. We offer scholarships for our Summer Camp programs, the Scholarship Application is available online.

They are both Harvard-educated and their 5 children were the inspiration behind the creation of this revolutionary new summer program

Brain Chase is a 6-week summer learning challenge disguised as a massive global treasure hunt for 2nd−8th graders. A golden globe has been buried somewhere on earth – and it contains the key to a safe deposit box holding a $10,000 college scholarship fund. Participants who complete an hour of online summer learning activities each day will unlock secret animated webisodes that hold the clues to the globe’s whereabouts. CAMP FACILITIES: We have 3 large cabins that hold a maximum of 50 campers in each cabin. The cabins at Camp are large, climate controlled, and wheelchair accessible. Spaces in the medical cabin are available for CAMPers who need 24 hour medical care, dependent on sessions. We have a recreation/dining hall, outdoor basketball courts, nature center, arts and crafts area, archery area, night activity pavilion, music recreation and paint ball areas. We have a newly completed Aquatic Center with a splash pad, pool, warm water pool and lazy river. Each water feature along with the pool house is 100% accessible to all Campers. Bordering on the Guadalupe allows for canoeing activities.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The idea for Children’s Association for Maximum Potential (CAMP) began when a group of Air Force physicians realized how important a camping experience could be to their pediatric patients with special needs. Founded in 1979, CAMP was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 1980. In 1988 CAMP purchased a campground on the Guadalupe River in Center Point, Texas, and became accredited by the American Camp Association in 1992.

Head nurse, Executive Camp Director and Camp Director certified as Red Cross First Aid/CPR Instructors. Director of Family Support Program and Assistant Camp Director are certified in First Aid and CPR training. Camp Director is Certified Pool operator including updates for waterpark management. Camp Director and Summer Executive Chef are certified Food Service Managers. Head nurse is an official facilitator of the Dept. of Human Services, Office of Minority Health, Culturally Competent Nursing Care CNE Program-a nine hour course that encourages cultural sensitivity, overcoming cultural conflicts and linguistic competency.

Executive Camp Director is a Crisis Prevention Institute’s Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Senior Level Instructor with advanced Autism Spectrum Disorders Instructor certification. CAMP passed the Texas State Health Inspection with 0 deficiencies. Passed the Baptist Child and family Service (BFCS) Emergency Shelter Inspection and is a recommended shelter provider for BFCS Special Needs Emergency Shelter Operations for the State of Texas. CAMP achieved full 3-year accreditation from the American Camp Association based on its Summer 2013 accreditation visit.

CAMP does its best to ensure that no one is ever turned away based on the severity of their disability or inability of the family to pay.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Camp provides a thorough orientation and continuous training for the program. Volunteers will be trained on how to work with individuals who have special needs - to include child development, hygiene and personal care, behavior management, medical diagnoses, and CAMP policies and procedures. Training is mandatory for all new and returning volunteers. Volunteers can earn up to 99 service hours per session.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: The cost of summer camp is $1500 per session. CAMP offers the Scholarship Tier option to any families whose CAMPer does not receive agency funding and cannot pay the full cost. The Scholarship Tier costs are offered based on family income; the family’s 2013 IRS1040 and supporting W-2's must be submitted to qualify for this payment option.

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): January 16-18 2015. Children with cancer who also have some other condition or disability.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Respite Weekend Camps: Respite Weekend Camp is a monthly program during non-summer months at our Center Point, Texas location. Children and adults, aged 5 to 40 years, have the opportunity to enjoy recreational camp activities specifically designed with their special needs in mind. Families must enroll in the Respite Club to participate in the event. This program is housed at our Camp CAMP facility at 515 Skyline Drive in Center Point, TX 78010.

Parents Night Out (PNO): Parents Night Out (PNO) is a childcare and enrichment activity program for current Respite Club members aged 6 months to 13 years. PNO is free of charge on scheduled Friday nights and is available for children with developmental disabilities and their siblings. Families must enroll in the Respite Club to participate in the event. This program is housed at CAMP’s Executive Offices at the Boorda Center on Lackland Air Force Base (LAFB) in San Antonio, TX 78227.

Teen and Adult Day Adventure (TADA): Teen and Adult Day Adventure (TADA) is a supervised social program in the Greater San Antonio community for teens and adults, aged 14-40. Activities can include dinner, movies, sporting events, SA rodeo, and concerts. Families must enroll in the Respite Club to participate in the event. The cost of the event is the responsibility of the participant.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Ages 4-8, Students will be split into skill-based groups. Dancers will learn the basics of ballet, study different ballet tales containing fairies, eat healthy snacks provided by Tapestry and experiment with creativity as they design a final day performance.Please send your student with a healthy lunch. Students should wear a leotard and tights or some sort of comfortable, easy to move in dance wear with ballet shoes. You must fill out a registration form on your first day of camp.

CAMP FACILITIES: The Camp offers the finest facilities in the country. Food is prepared by the on premises chef. The Golf Academy has the most up to date training equiptment available. CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS:
LEADERS-IN-TRAINING (LIT) (ENTERING GRADE 10)
The Camp Shalom and Sports Camp LIT Program (formerly counselor in training) has been designed to allow teens a multifaceted experience. The program contains three core components: leadership training, hands-on counselor skills guidance, and fun, social programming. Each two-week session will focus on a new topic, the opportunity to work with one of three age-groups at camp, and will provide an off-campus trip.

LITs will also have the opportunity to partake in special camp electives created just for them! Under the supervision of the LIT Assistant Director, LITs will meet as a group regularly to attend workshops planned especially for that session’s theme. Upon successful completion of the LIT Program, participants will receive a minimum of 45 community service hours and are eligible for a higher rate of pay as Assistant Counselors at Camp Shalom.

Awards of financial assistance are made possible for community members by generous contributions to the Jewish Federation of Greater Austin Annual Campaign and other philanthropic gifts to the JCC.

CAMP FACILITIES: North Texas Equestrian Center offers a wide array of amenities, providing first class care for horse and owner. There are four adjoining barns that can accommodate 100 horses, two inside arenas, three outside dressage/jumping arenas and Fifty acres of open riding and cross country jumps.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: NTEC offers the opportunity for young children as young as six thru teens to experience a working equine training facility, during a specialized structured camp; that is offered all day-five days a week, on a weekly basis; at three different sessions times in June. The facility has covered indoor arenas from the summer heat and an air-conditioned art room for mid-day activities in between their morning and afternoon riding lessons. In addition, an onsite farrier demonstrates his art of shoeing and trimming horse’s onsite as an added bonus.

The owner, Kai Handt was named U.S. Para-Equestrian Dressage Chef d’Equipe/Technical Advisor by The United States Federation (USEF) (Released Jan. 16, 2014). Kai has owned and operated the equestrian center known as North Texas Equestrian Center since 1985 and has coached and trained several young riders to National Championships and imported some of the finest German Warmblood for Dressage and Jumpers for aspiring riding athletes.

Camp Doublecreek was founded in 1971 by Uncle Carter and Aunt Trudy, who wanted to give children, ages 4-14, of the greater Austin area, a place where they could thrive in the summers.​

We're proud to continue Uncle Carter and Aunt Trudy's dreams through encouraging, challenging, engaging, and inspiring our campers every single day. We accomplish these goals, by using a variety of summer camp activities lead by our supportive and caring staff. We know how important it is for campers of all ages, as well as our staff, to go home at the end of the day knowing that someone believes in them.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Our counselor in training program is the perfect way for ages 14-16 to learn what it takes to be a camp counselor. You'll get hands-on experience leading activities, working with children, and making lifelong friends. Plus, our experienced staff will be there to mentor and support you every step of the way. YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: We offer a variety of activities that are individually crafted for each age group. From sports to arts and crafts, there's an activity here for every camper to enjoy. Swim lessons are provided for 3rd grade and younger to learn or improve their skills. Our rock wall, zipline, and low ropes course offer challenges for those looking to test their limits. And of course, we have plenty of dancing and arts and crafts for campers who want to express their creativity.

CAMP FACILITIES: We have 10 acre property with a 10 stall barn, an outdoor arena, and a covered arena so we can ride and play even if it's wet outside.

The best part is that each week, we will have a different focus and activities, so your child can attend more than one week and get even more out of the program.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Outside of camps, we offer horseback riding lessons through our ForteBella Academy, horse boarding and training, as well as a horse sale and purchase program. We have something for everyone who wants to come enjoy some time in the country with our majestic horses.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Cultural Dance and Art Camp:
Join us for a a 4-day after school pre-summer camp exploring movement and creativity. See how similar, and how different dance is around the world by exploring world cultures through art and dance.

Dance Discoveries - Stories, Music & Magic of the Ballet:
Dance Discoveries is designed to give children the opportunity to explore dance and related art forms. Through music, story, dance, and the visual arts, children will discover, create, and have fun. This summer's Dance Discoveries theme will be Stories, Music & Magic of the Ballet. Children will learn about some of the favorite ballets that have a story around magic and magical fun. Classical ballets such as Cinderella, Coppelia, Swan Lake and more. Art, dance and creative learning will be a part of each day.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Stories, movement, games, crafts, and music encourage a child's natural energy, curiosity, imagination, and creativity. A great way to keep kids active and having fun!

Interactive and participatory, each day the children will bring something home. It may be in their hands, in their heads, or in their hearts! Or maybe all three! It's going to be a great time!

Creative Kids and Teens, age 10-15, are empowered in our youth camps by getting in the mix with jewelry and metalsmithing tools. They use all the essential jewelry tools such as the torch, hammers, files and more! With the guidance of a professional jeweler and educator, students will learn a new technique or try a new project each day. All projects are designed to be completed and worn out of the studio on the same day!

Monday Camp, 10-2p, Spinner Rings

“Take a Spin” at jewelry making and make a spinner/fidget ring in copper and brass. Learn what is involved in making a spinner ring, including measuring, soldering, texturing and forming. These rings are comfortable, full of motion, and very fun to wear.

Tuesday Camp, 10-2p,Textured Cuff Bracelets

“Let’s roll” Learn how to roll everyday items in our Rolling Mill to make an impression on a copper Cuff Bracelet. We use lace, sandpaper, corn husks and more to make unique textures! Students use jewelry tools such as the torch, files, hammers, forming mandrels and more.
Kit fee: $10 | Paid day of class

Wednesday Camp, 10-2p, Concrete Jewelry

“Cement your Creativity” Kids can make non-toxic, quick, fun jewelry with concrete. We provide all the supplies and you provide the kid and their creativity. Concrete can be embellished with seed beads, glitter, inks, and paint and then made into a necklace or earrings.

Thursday Camp, 10-2p, Personalized Metal Pendant

“Draw...Saw...Hammer Time” Great for those that love to draw and would like to see their drawings realized in metal! Start with sawing and piercing out an image in the metal with a jewelers saw. Then stamp a special message or design. End the day with learning how to make your piece shiny or add a patina for an aged look. Leave with a personalized pendant!
Kit fee: $20 | Paid day of class

Friday Camp, 10-2p, Stacking Rings

"Stack 'em up" Simple stacked wire rings are all the rage right now! Make your own stack of 5 rings in copper, brass, and silver. Gain knowledge of silver soldering using the traditional jeweler’s torch, plus create textures with hammers and tools to add your own unique personal touch.
