CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS:
LEADERS-IN-TRAINING (LIT) (ENTERING GRADE 10)
The Camp Shalom and Sports Camp LIT Program (formerly counselor in training) has been designed to allow teens a multifaceted experience. The program contains three core components: leadership training, hands-on counselor skills guidance, and fun, social programming. Each two-week session will focus on a new topic, the opportunity to work with one of three age-groups at camp, and will provide an off-campus trip.

LITs will also have the opportunity to partake in special camp electives created just for them! Under the supervision of the LIT Assistant Director, LITs will meet as a group regularly to attend workshops planned especially for that session’s theme. Upon successful completion of the LIT Program, participants will receive a minimum of 45 community service hours and are eligible for a higher rate of pay as Assistant Counselors at Camp Shalom.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: The Jewish Community Association of Austin maintains a policy of adjusting fees according to family income. The process is strictly confidential. Awards of financial assistance are made possible for community members by generous contributions to the Jewish Federation of Greater Austin Annual Campaign and other philanthropic gifts to the JCC.

CAMP FACILITIES: We are situated on 100 acres with two venues used for our campers. We have over 25 lesson and trail horses that are amazing for beginners and more advanced riders. We are the trailhead of over 30 miles of lakeside trails maintained by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. We ride those trails daily and in our camps.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Campers will enjoy a hands-on learning experience. We begin with feeding horses, learning all about horse safety, grooming, anatomy, and tacking up. They will learn the basics of riding in a Western saddle, an English saddle, and even get on bareback. Every day we will introduce them to something new about horses, so If they didn't get to come the day before, that's okay. Campers will also enjoy hayrides, arts & crafts, fun activities, & all sorts of fun outdoor games. Our Camp is a great introduction to horses. It is not an all-day riding event. However, everyone does get to experience riding Western, and English riding when they attend a full camp.

We focus on a fun, hands-on experience with horses, to give children a glimpse into what it is like to care for, ride and safely experience horses.

Our goal is to provide a camp that is safe, informative, and fun.

We divide the days between hayrides, arts & crafts, riding, grooming, and on hot Summer days, bathing the horses.

Since 1991 World Cup Soccer Camps & Clinics has set the standard of excellence for youth soccer camps, classes and personal soccer training. With an emphasis on instruction, your child will receive the highest level of attention in a fun and safe environment. Our morning sessions are dedicated to technical training and developing skills. We create many touches on the ball to make it exciting and to improve your child's game. Half days conclude with small-sided games. In the afternoons we play matches where we work on tactics and positioning. All our coaches are skilled players, great with children and love to teach. With a 1 to 10, coach to player ratio, we are able to focus on high-quality and individualized training. Your child will be a better player after camp while having a lot of fun.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: The Apprentice Program provides year-round leadership and personal financial management training. Through participating as an Apprentice, tweens and teens deepen and broaden their understanding of leadership and financial concepts, while getting new experience and training in being part of a Leadership Team.

The Apprentice Program is a career development program for teens where they gain experience in leadership, working collaboratively with others, and being responsible and making a real contribution to the training and development of others. We have developed the Program as a real training and development program—where our Apprentices move along a defined pathway of increasing levels of accountability and responsibility. They are involved throughout the process in measuring and evaluating their advancement from Apprentice to Senior Apprentice to Coach.

Kids explore how money really works and develop skills in leadership, teamwork and accountability while having TONS of fun.

Here's what we'll be exploring:

· How does a business work?

· What makes a great business idea?

· Where does the money come from?

· How can I make my money grow?

Campers develop a business idea, including a marketing plan, analyzing expenses and potential profit, delivering a good or service, determining how to invest the profits.

The business partners then pitch their idea to our Barracudas to get a loan for their supplies (Moolah U’s version of Shark Tank) and then produce and sell their product for the week.

All this, couched in an environment of play/exploration and a variety of self-directed activities.

Kids leave our program saying it was one of the best experiences that they have had and they return each year to learn more. Moolah U gives them tools to create a life of financial independence and responsibility, the life skills that we know make a difference for the next generation.

Teen graduates of Moolah U are eligible to enter the Apprentice Training Program where they deepen their experience of leadership and financial skills. The Apprentice Program is a year round program that includes working with local business mentors, special workshops on life skills including time management, communication, and project based learning. Academic Leadership Summer Camps for Outstanding 4th-8th graders
Outstanding students meet in Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin/San Antonio, or Houston/Galveston for a week of fun, learning, leadership development, and visits to unique and historically significant Texas destinations. Each day students explore notable Texas sites, learn about unique careers from professionals at sites visited, and develop their leadership abilities during leadership groups with their facilitators.

All adult facilitators, one for every ten students, are Texas teachers. In addition to improving their leadership abilities, participants gain self-confidence and independence and develop new friendships with other high-achieving students. Participants must maintain an 85 or higher average and receive an educator recommendation based on demonstrated leadership ability.

CAMP FACILITIES: Camp Bette Perot is home to our award-winning Equestrian Program with a large riding arena and diverse riding trails. Camp program facilities include a swimming pool, extensive nature study sites, a sports/ game field, archery range, ropes course and climbing wall.

Camp facilities include the uniquely-designed air-conditioned Treehouse unit, three units made up of five air-conditioned cabins each and a platform tent unit located near the ropes course. OTHER CAMP INFO: Our camp lasts one week, Monday thru Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Each Session is comprised of student teams, working in their own age groups, typically 3-5 students. The team works as a group to create a game around the week’s themes (Underwater Exploration, Mountain Climbing, Fantastic Voyage Into the Body, etc). Each team is led by a Camp Counselor, who is responsible for their team’s work and serves as a mentor and instructor during the course of the week. They work together as a team to bring their idea to life. At Game Worlds, we love teamwork and work hard to make sure every student has the opportunity to participate.

Each day has a different development theme (Programming, Art, Audio, Design, etc), and starts with a presentation from an experienced Developer. We have daily tutorials that explore the different area of development, and lab time where the teams work on their games.

On Friday, the students present their work to a panel of Game Industry professionals! It’s a friendly competition among the teams, so there are prizes and awards given out. After the Awards Ceremony there is an optional Pizza Party where students can relax and enjoy the company of their new friends! They’ve earned it, and it’s one of our favorite parts of camp. It runs Friday from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

CAMP FACILITIES: We have 6 cabins for 8 boys each, for grades 2-6, and wall tents on wooden decks for boys in grades 7-9. Great, spring fed waterfront for swimming and canoeing; great space for shooting sports, wood shop and horseback riding.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The Marianist have held a Boys Camp in the Hill Country since 1937. In 1951 the current property became its year round home. The theme for Boys Camp is Esto Vir, "Be a (Godly) Man." All activities point toward helping boys become faithful to the characteristics of Leadership, Integrity, Honesty, Humility, Fortitude, Loyalty, Obedience, and Spirit of Service.

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): Enjoy four days of family and peer group activities, and time to just relax with your family at beautiful Tecaboca. We invite you to take a break from the usual summer schedule and spend some time reflecting on your faith and your family bonds.

The Retreat Team consists of Lay and Religious Marianists dedicated to strengthening family bonds and offering family faith formation that include fun, laughter, prayer, and relaxation. Besides great retreat activities, families may ride horses, learn to shoot rifles and bows and arrows, swim, and canoe. Cook-outs, marshmallows and more!

CAMP FACILITIES: We have 10 rustic screened-in cabins, with electricity in cabins, and a modern bathhouse with showers & flush toilets located just a few steps away from the cabin. Small pond for fishing, large field for sports & games, trails for hiking. For additional fee, full service kitchen (up to 100 people) and crafts cabin are available.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: This will be our 63rd year of camping in east Texas. We are associated with Camp Fire, Inc., a national youth organization.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: CIT available for young adults who are entering the 12th grade in Fall 2014. Fee is $200 per week for 2014 season. Rarely, 11th graders may be considered by special permission of the director.

OTHER CAMP INFO: Beautiful, full-service, AND affordable rates! Camp Niwana is a great place for rentals for organizations that want to offer a summer camp experience with their own staff, but don't have their own site, such as youth groups, church groups, family reunions, LARP, etc.

SUMMER CAMP JOBS:
Hiring season is from January to May.  We hire men and women in all areas, with certified Lifeguards given special preference of consideration.  Applicants must be 18 or older.  Athletes who participate in outdoor team sports are preferred (swim team, soccer, baseball, track, etc).  

If you are considering a career in professional recreation or physical education, we'd love to hear from you.

Application forms are available online for both Staff and CIT.  Find form online, download and print at home, fill it out, and mail it in.  We prefer to have all hiring completed before May 1, so please apply early, if considering.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Since 1979, Skyhawks sports has led safe, fun and skill-focused sports camps and programs for youth between the ages of 3-12.

We offer many different different sports--and countless ways for your child to grow. The camps range from soccer to baseball to our popular mulit-sport camps where kids sample three different sports (soccer, basketball and baseball) in one camp.

Our camps and programs are offered locally throughout over 500 communities. The format includes traditional week-long summer day camps and year-round after-school programs that range from 45 minutes to 6 hours in duration, per day. Our progression of camps and programs, led by our expert staff, are generated toward youth looking for a sport introduction or those who want to refine and master their sport-specific skills.

At Skyhawks we go the extra mile to focus on safety, and we have a long-standing proven safety track record and processes to prove it. For example, all Skyhawks Sports camps start and end with our unique safety process called "Gate System and Parking Lot Duty." This process is where coaches come and greet both parents and campers in the parking lot when parents pull up to drop off their children.

Our staff guide the kids onto the field/court and out of harm's way by funneling them into our gate system. Eye contact is maintained from each one of our staff members until the kids make it onto the field/court where they are grouped by age. This efficient process ensures safety. Additionally, it develops a level of trust between parent, coach, and child that ultimately leads to a fun and skill-focused camp for youth.
