CAMP FACILITIES: The academic environment at Wheelock provides an appropriate facility for scientific experiments. Perhaps just as importantly, it also gives students an introduction to college life. One afternoon of camp will include a tour of Wheelock's classrooms, resource center, dorm rooms, library, theater, campus store, dining hall, and other campus buildings. Students will also have an opportunity to speak with undergraduates and faculty from Wheelock and faculty from other institutions throughout the Colleges of the Fenway, as well as members of the Academic Advising and Admissions offices.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: STEM in the City is run by an outstanding team of education professionals from Wheelock College, led by Dr. Ellen Faszewski, Wheelock College professor of biology and co-chair of the Math and Science Department. The team also includes college student counselors, as well as Wheelock staff and faculty.

CAMP FACILITIES: Enjoy a wonderful spacious indoor facility where we can break up into smaller groups in addition to a natural outdoor setting. Enjoy a hot lunch and snack every day.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Drama Camp is run and instructed by Amy Kimball, who has worked in the summer camp setting for 32 summers. She directed Summer Camp for 20 summers. Amy is an experienced Clown, Mime, Performer, Director, Certified Teacher and has had every role at camp from counselor to unit head to specialist to Director. Amy has her BA in Education and has directed over 15 theatrical productions over the years. She will be working with help from a talented staff of performers who have expertise in singing and acting. Amy's staff will go through a camp staff orientation to understand their roles and responsibilities as counselors.

Our philosophy is for campers to create, learn, enjoy and work together all in a positive setting. Drama camp is about process but at the end of the week, the campers will perform for their friends and families.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: C.I.T. (Counselor In Training Program): The C.I.T. program gives our most mature campers, who are entering the 8th and 9th grades, a feel for what it take to be a counselor, while still having the opportunity to participate in all of the great activities at Maplewood.

In their role as a Maplewood C.I.T. they will have the opportunity to develop the skills and confidence that will help them to become effective leaders and positive role models.

SUMMER CAMP JOBS:
Accredited Day Camp in South Easton, MA seeks teachers or individuals with education certification to work with children ages 3-14. You will be responsible for leading groups of children through their daily activities. Applicant will also be responsible for supervising other staff members. Individuals must have prior experience working with children.

If you enjoy working with children; the outdoors; environments that are rewarding and challenging then this is the job for you. Camp dates are June 29-August 21. Hours are Monday-Friday from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M.

CAMP FACILITIES: We have a year-round Education Center with grounds that include wildflower gardens and a backyard for play and a birding view over the salt marshes around us. The Center has a touch-tank with tidepool wildlife during the summer, and has classrooms for camp use.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO:

Our 5-day themed sessions give campers the opportunity to learn more about their natural surroundings – from insects to arachnids, birds to mammals, ocean to river, and meadow to marsh. Our Explorer and Trekker day camp sessions for ages 6 to 11 run from 8:30am to 3:00pm. Weekly field trips provide full ecosystem immersion. Small group sizes ensure a welcoming, supportive environment. We also offer an after camp option until 5:00pm for all sessions

Nature-Questers, our new day camp for ages 11 to 13, brings pre-teen campers farther outdoors with daily field trips, field ecology projects, paddling trips, and an overnight at Joppa Flats. The daily schedule runs from 8:30am-3:30pm.

Joppa Flats Summer Camp is the perfect program for children with an interest in and curiosity about nature. Campers ages 6 to 13 have fun and make friends as they discover local habitats and wildlife. Our days are filled with hands-on, place-based activities, such as wildlife tracking, orienteering, and nature art; games and cooperative challenges; and nature engineering projects. Multiple field trips each week provide full ecosystem immersion for an enhanced camp experience, while small group sizes ensure that campers stay safe and engaged.

Camp staff members are carefully selected for their maturity, caring attitude towards children, and competence in the fields of natural history, outdoor education, and leadership. All staff must pass background checks and receive training in safety, child development, and nature study. The camp director, in addition to having extensive camp and outdoor school experience, is certified in Wilderness First Aid, CPR/First Aid/AED, and Canoe Safety and Rescue.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Each Trekkers & Explorers Camp session we offer one volunteer counselor-in-training (CIT) position. CITs are at least 14 years of age, and should have a passion for learning about nature and working with children. CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Limited camp scholarships are available. We provide financial assistance based on demonstrated economic need and available funds. This is generally limited to one session per child; however all applications are considered. We partner with our families in ensuring that all food sent to Camp is ingredient-checked before being sent to the bunk. CAMP FACILITIES: Lodging accommodations at Camp Timber Trails include rustic summer cabins sleeping 4-8; three private cabins with 1-2 bedrooms, bath, and kitchens; the Lodge sleeps 6 and has a meeting space for 60 and small commercial kitchen; the Welcome Center sleeps 2-6 and has meeting space for 25 and a kitchen. West Wind Dining Hall and kitchen can accommodate up to 500. The Barefoot Ballroom is uniquely fitted with a sprung wooden dance floor.

An outdoor amphitheater overlooking the pond has bench style seating for 200. The waterfront on 16-acre Ward's Pond includes swimming beach and docks for canoes, kayaks and row boats. The large activity field has plenty of space for softball, soccer, concerts, festivals and outdoor events.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Timber Trails is available for groups to rent for a single day, a week or a month. Our facilities allow groups the flexibility of creating their own unique camping program. Camp facilities are available from May through October for overnight groups with as few as 10 to as many as 250 participants. Non-residential day programs can accommodate groups larger than 250. Katerina Romanenko, Ph.D. Assistant Director of Youth and Family Programs

An experienced educator and visual culture historian, Dr. Romanenko specializes in Museum education, art history, American History, and object-based learning in formal and informal environments. She holds a PhD in Art History from the City University of New York and for more than 15 years teaches art history and works in Museum education. She also holds a BA in Education Sciences and has experience in research, development and implementation of educational programs for different age groups.

Alicia Mino, Art Educator, Manager of the School and Community Programs

An accomplished practicing artists and art educator, Alicia Mino received her Master’s in visual communication from the Metropolitan University of Chile, She spent fifteen years in Italy studying art history, oil painting, and sculpture. She presented in numerous art exhibitions and founded the Mates Art and Design Studio, where she taught drawing, oil/acrylic painting, and sculpture fundamentals for ten years. In 2008 Alicia moved to Philadelphia where she continues to exhibit her work and teaches art.

Lindsey Murphy, Art Educator and K-8 Program Coordinator

An art educator with over a decade of experience in the field of education, Lindsey Murphy has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology; concentration in Archaeology from Millersville University, and an Elementary Teaching Certification from Millersville University. She worked as a general education classroom teacher in the Oxford Area School District in Chester County, PA for 8 years, and has worked in PAFA’s education department over the past 11 years creating and implementing numerous museum tours and art making experiences for children and families of all backgrounds, becoming the K-8 Program Coordinator in 2019..

Melissa Hendrixson, Art Educator

Melissa Hendrixson is an artist and art educator who has worked in Museum Education for over five years. She has her Bachelor's of Fine Arts and Studio Certificate from Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and has gained experience through assisting the coordination and development of various museum programming including family programs, youth art classes, and summer camps. She now works for the School and Community Partnership Program as an art educator where she develops and implements museum tours, school lessons, and community outreach programs to support student learning, parental engagement and visual literacy initiatives.

CAMP FACILITIES: We are a 32 room facility with classrooms, comfortable individual and group therapy spaces, a breakfast room, a living room for morning meeting, as well as a Nurse's office.

There is also an outdoor play space, garden, and an outdoor pool, basketball court, and a gym/fitness center. We also have use of 500 acres of conservation land for learning and fitness.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Sunshine, dba Reed Academy was established in 1975, to provide a camp-like atmosphere where boys, ages 6-18 have a program where they can flourish with summer activities, and still maintain the skills that they have been learning throughout the school year.

Camp Sunshine, dba Reed Academy has grown to be a full year program. Reed Academy, the 12 month program is dedicated to helping boys with social and emotional needs. The highly structured program is to promote academic growth as well as providing an extended day for students to engage in fun and supervised activities.

Our camp programming works with each child's IEP, and provides additional focus on strengthening of adaptive daily living skills, social skills, and self-esteem building. Our classrooms are small, with ratios 4/5 students to each certified special education teacher, allowing the behavioral and educational needs of each student to be met with care and compassion.

Camp Sunshine, dba Reed Academy also has a full time LICSW and clinical staff on board to assist in providing support within the therapeutic milieu. In addition, the Executive Director, Academic Director, and Program Coordinator work closely with the students and staff members.

Some of our classes will include acting, singing, dancing, technical theater, improv, and auditioning skills. Also, we're very excited about incorporating film/television acting and production into the workshop!

Monologues will also be worked on during class time so that upon completion of the program, participants will be comfortable using their pieces at auditions in the future. There will also be many outdoor activities, free time, and special guests!

1) Youth Academy - Designed for boys and girls ages 6-10. Fun, exciting and engaging activities are all part of the week. Throughout the week, players will be put in a competitive environment that will bring out their very best. In our unique evening competitions, players will have the opportunity to compete against other teams, other players and themselves.

4) College Prep Academy - Our goal is to provide an incredible environment where serious soccer players will be exposed to the highest level of instruction in anticipation of playing at the highest level possible. High Performance Seminars will be led by trusted experts in their field and will include: Sports Nutrition, Soccer Specific Conditioning, ACT/SAT Preparation and Sport Psychology. Goalkeepers and field players will be exposed to an intensive training environment for those who are serious about fulfilling their potential.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Ivy Seed Academy was founded in August of 2013 and based in Boston Massachusetts, Ivy Seed is an education company that provides STEM programs, summer camps for children around the world and educational tours.

The course is designed to prepare students for the fundamentals of IOS programming language created by Apple. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The Collegiate Soccer Academy (CSA) is designed for high school students who are interested in playing soccer at the collegiate level. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Individualized instruction in ballet technique, conditioning, repertory, and creative independent assignments will be given with the caring attention that is the hallmark of JMBT’s school. Participants will receive a student instructional workbook and other course materials thoughtfully designed to optimize comprehensive ballet training during times of necessary physical distancing.

Students will work closely with members of JMBT’s faculty in limited-size classes offering substantial individual feedback. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The World Sports Camp mission is to create a safe and positive sports environment, where children from around the world, ages 8 through 16, can interact while improving their athletic skills. (Basketball, Soccer, Tennis, Golf) This is accomplished through positive reinforcement coaching, with skill level training, from high level, skilled coaches and counselors. World Sports Camp allows for campers to choose which sports and to what degree they will be involved.

By empowering campers to make their own choices, we feel that their involvement will be more enthusiastic and they will have a greater desire to participate. Attention is given to treating all campers equally, with value and understanding given to the beginners as well as the advanced athlete.

World Sports Camp draws campers from 86 countries, all over the world. Approximately 35% of our campers hail from outside the United States and 65% are American. The opportunity to exchange cultural differences and participate in sports and other activities with peers from around the world is second to none.

Camp life and off campus activities are an integral part of the World Sports Camp experience. Developing new national and international friendships through sports and other camp activities, improves the quality of life for all involved. Fairness, quality sportsmanship and enforcement of rules and regulations are emphasized both on and off the playing field.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: C.I.T.'s (Camper In Training) This is a true leadership program at World Sports Camp. These campers must be 16 years of age and all but one period of each day, they will follow the normal camp schedule. During that one period, the CIT’s will shadow a coach to learn about the different coaching techniques. By the end of their stay at World Sports Camp, each CIT camper will develop a lesson for an entire period and will teach their lesson to the campers, as if they were the Head Coach!! They will have the help of the other coaches, but this will allow the CIT's to get out of their comfort zone and try something new.

As well, we have a dedicated CIT counselor who will evaluate each CIT at the end of each week to let each CIT know what they have done well and what needs improvement. In addition, because of their dedication and hard work we take all of the CIT's on a CIT trip. We allow the CIT’s to decide what this will be. For example, this past year, we went to mini-golf, laser tag, a movie and dinner off the campus as their trip of choice.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Kreative Kidz camps are fun, high-energy programs that allow young people to fully engage their imaginations as they experience the thrill of creating live theatre. From learning the basic techniques of acting for the stage, to developing improvisation and physical comedy skills, to putting it all together in a public performance, it will be a summer your child will never forget. Students participate in a wide variety of theatre activities--including improvisation, scene study, storytelling, creative writing, and group singing--all taught by caring teachers dedicated to meeting each child at his or her level.

Classes emphasize drama games and exercises designed to increase spontaneity, engage the imagination, promote self-confidence, and encourage ensemble spirit. At the end of each week, students share their work in a free performance which is open to the public.

Peter Pan - July 9-13
Wendy Darling mesmerizes her brothers every night with bedtime tales of swordplay, swashbuckling and the fearsome Captain Hook. But the children become the heroes of an even greater story, when Peter Pan flies into their nursery one night and brings them to Neverland. The Lost Boys, Pirates, Tinkerbelle and all the wonderful characters will come to life this week.

Bravo for Broadway - July 16-20
This week we’ll be working on past and current Broadway musicals. With skits, songs and dances from popular shows.

Superheroes and Villains - July 23-27
Calling all superheroes! Students will dress up like their favorite heroes and villains. We’ll create a script together with characters like Batman, Wonder Woman, The Hulk, and Iron Man.

Pop Star Studio - July 30-Aug 3
Spend the week feeling like a pop star! Students will perform solos, duets and group numbers. They will also learn choreography to some of their favorite songs. This camp is a chance for students of all talent levels to have time in the spotlight.

Laugh Out Loud – Aug 6-10
Get ready to laugh the week away, with hilarious and outrageous skits written by the students themselves. It’s sure to be a week full of fun.

Trolls – Aug 13-17
After the Bergens invade Troll Village, Poppy, the happiest Troll ever born, and the very grumpy Branch set off on a journey to rescue her friends.

CAMP FACILITIES: Lawrence Academy is a private boarding high school that offers summer programs. The campus has a swimming pool, 12 tennis courts, 3 indoor basketball courts, 8 athletic fields, a theater, dining hall, and numerous indoor air conditioned spaces. Summer programs are open to ages 3.5-17.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The 100-acre Lawrence Academy campus provides the setting for over 30 day camp offerings for children entering grades K–12 and an overnight English, Mandarin, Spanish, and French immersion program for American and international students. Summer Programs at Lawrence Academy are divided into three types: Day Camp, Specialty Camps, and Sports Camps. We offer nine one-week camp sessions beginning June 22, and ending August 21, 2015 for children entering Kindergarten through grade 12. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The faculty consists of renowned lecturers, veterans in International Mathematical Olympiads (IMO) and Olympiad coaches, who have successful careers in math, science, and technology, with many years of classroom teaching experiences. Various problem solving techniques will be introduced, as well as Math contest strategies. For Science: Scientific research methodologies, principles in mechanics, electricity and magnetism, optics, thermodynamics, etc., and real world applications such as roller coaster theory (you can learn to design your own roller coaster and build it at the camp!). These are fun, casual events involving; paint nights, cooking demonstrations, pumpkin carving, and themed dinners.
