Our well-trained and energetic staff, ACA accreditation, and 244-acre sanctuary provide a one-of-a-kind summer experience.

Stony Brook Day Camp gives children the chance to do what comes naturally—explore! Weekly sessions have campers ages 3–15 discovering our wildlife sanctuary’s forest, fields, and wetlands. Trail explorations, hands–on activities, games, crafts, and more provide full ecosystem immersion for an enhanced learning experience, while small group sizes ensure a welcoming, supportive environment.

CAMP INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED:

Mass Audubon Stony Brook Day Camp is a Top Summer Camp located in Norfolk Massachusetts offering many fun and educational camp activities, including: Science, Wilderness/Nature and more. Mass Audubon Stony Brook Day Camp is a top camp for ages: 4-14.
VIEW CAMP PHOTO

CAMP LOCATION: Known for its extensive boardwalk system that goes through forest, fields, and wetlands, Stony Brook offers up-close views of wildlife above and under the water. Located adjacent to the 140-acre Bristol Blake State Reservation and cooperatively managed with the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), this former 18th-century mill site now supports native wildlife.

CAMP FACILITIES: The sanctuary encompasses 245 acres of forest, field, and wetland habitats, each offering exciting opportunities for nature exploration. The 2 miles of trails on the sanctuary include a scenic boardwalk across a pond and marsh, and a trail for the visually impaired. Indoors, the visitor center contains displays on various natural history topics, program space, and a gift shop with nature-oriented items.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our goal is to provide an engaging and educational experience in a safe, supportive setting where campers learn to grow both as individuals and as part of a team and to understand, enjoy and appreciate the nature of Massachusetts

Campers at Stony Brook have the opportunity to investigate four varied habitats - pond, wetland, field, and forest as they form friendships that last a lifetime. Through a combination of outdoor investigations, non-competitive games, crafts and other activities, campers use the sanctuary as a living laboratory where they can observe and enjoy numerous plants and animals. They become young naturalists as they begin to identify wildlife species; junior scientists while critically thinking about environmental problems and solutions; and amateur ecologists predicting where they might find salamanders on a hot day.

Campers can attend multiple weeks without repetition and are encouraged to do so. Each session has a theme, and each week features different age-appropriate activities ensuring that each session is a unique experience. Children who return year after year achieve new levels of confidence and natural history proficiency.

Our staff’s enthusiasm for the natural world is contagious and quickly spreads to the campers. Marla Cohen has been camp director since 2002. A majority of the counselors are undergraduate students majoring in education or environmental science and are selected for their maturity and experience working with children in outdoor settings. This combination of youth and experience generates a highly motivated and vibrant atmosphere.

All camp staff are trained in First Aid and CPR. Prior to the beginning of camp, all staff participate in a week-long training session that includes program preparation and health and safety guidelines.

As an ACA-accredited camp, Stony Brook Camp meets both the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and American Camp Association standards for its program, staffing, counselor/camper ratios, health and safety policies, site and facilities, and administration.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: The CIT program provides an opportunity for teens and young adults to experience camp and receive leadership guidance and training, while acting as volunteer assistants to day camp counselors. This program is for youth ages 15-17 who are interested in learning about leadership and working with children. Teenagers are invited to experience the fun, stress, and rewards of camp as they assist Stony Brook Camp Counselors. It is a painstaking STEP-BY-STEP method. We must create for you a crystal-clear picture of what we are trying to teach through demonstration and explanation. You must understand clearly and be able to picture every little detail in your MIND’S EYE. Moreover, you then have to see yourself performing it successfully, and physically feel it and emotionally experience it.

The ultimate goal of self-teaching is INTERNALIZING MOTIVATION and knowing where you are, where you want to be, and how to get there step-by-step. We say you “FAIL YOUR WAY TO SUCCESS” because with this method, mistakes become your guidelines.

These campers must be 16 years of age and all but one period of each day, they will follow the normal camp schedule. During that one period, the CIT’s will shadow a coach to learn about the different coaching techniques. By the end of their stay at World Sports Camp, each CIT camper will develop a lesson for an entire period and will teach their lesson to the campers, as if they were the Head Coach!! They will have the help of the other coaches, but this will allow the CIT's to get out of their comfort zone and try something new.

As well, we have a dedicated CIT counselor who will evaluate each CIT at the end of each week to let each CIT know what they have done well and what needs improvement. In addition, because of their dedication and hard work we take all of the CIT's on a CIT trip. We allow the CIT’s to decide what this will be. For example, this past year, we went to mini-golf, laser tag, a movie and dinner off the campus as their trip of choice.

Our program also provides a meaningful opportunity for campers to learn more about some of the issues facing our planet and to get inspired and empowered to take action on those issues.

Our camps and programs are offered locally throughout over 500 communities. The format includes traditional week-long summer day camps and year-round after-school programs that range from 45 minutes to 6 hours in duration, per day. Our coaches and site directors make a significant difference to your childs on-field experience. Chosen for their strong personal character, responsibility, and capacity to effectively communicate sports skills to youth, our staff will make the extra effort every time to ensure that your children have the best on-field/court experience, emphasize teamwork, and learn life skills through sports. OTHER CAMP INFO: Skyhawks Sports Camps are SAFETY FOCUSED!

At Skyhawks we go the extra mile to focus on safety, and we have a long-standing proven safety track record and processes to prove it. For example, all Skyhawks Sports camps start and end with our unique safety process called Gate System and Parking Lot Duty. This process is where coaches come and greet both parents and campers in the parking lot when parents pull up to drop off their children.

Our staff guide the kids onto the field/court and out of harms way by funneling them into our gate system. Eye contact is maintained from each one of our staff members until the kids make it onto the field/court where they are grouped by age. This efficient process ensures safety. Additionally, it develops a level of trust between parent, coach, and child that ultimately leads to a fun and skill-focused camp for youth.

At 200 feet in length, the SSV Perry is a fabulous platform for adventure, teamwork, exploration and fun! Sail with a professional crew who will teach you the ropes. Learn to steer the ship, set the sails, and work as part of a team. See the beauty of the ocean from an unforgettable perspective - call us today, or check out Our Camp Website Link: www.ohpri.org for more information!

CAMP INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED:
Waterfront/Aquatics, Sailing, Math, Science, Technology, Adventure, Travel, Wilderness/Nature, and more. Maritime History, Marine Biology, Maritime Literature

CAMP LOCATION: Our office is located in downtown Newport, RI. This ship will move throughout New England, visiting the ports of Newport, Block Island and Providence RI, Boston, Nantucket, and Provincetown MA, Portsmouth NH, Portland ME, and many more destinations. Check Our Camp Website Link: www.ohpri.org for specific itineraries.

CAMP FACILITIES: At 200 feet, the Oliver Hazard Perry is the first ocean-going full-rigged ship to be built in the U.S. in over 100 years. It is the largest civilian sail training vessel in America. She has berths for 49 people overnight, and with 17 crew, a low camper to crew ratio creates a safe and fun environment. The ship is equipped with a steel hull, 3 masts, with square sails on all three masts, 20 sails totaling 14,000 square feet, and 7 miles of rope and wire. The engines run on a bio-diesel blend, and the ship is equipped with a modern galley (on-board kitchen), central air, an on-deck science lab, a library and wheel-chair accessibility above and below decks.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: With 17 professional crew and a capacity for 30-34 campers, our program promotes a dynamic and safe learning environment with a 2:1 ratio of campers to instructors. Campers will feel the thrill of steering a 500-ton ship, and learn to work the yards and sails while exploring the beautiful coasts of New England. They will learn safety at sea and perform important safety drills while acquiring skills in navigation, seamanship, sail handling, knots, and the language of the boat. Campers will explore the underwater world through snorkeling. They will understand wind, waves, tides and the ecology of sandy and rocky seashores.

Sunsets, sunrises and the night sky will serve as the backdrop for this incredible experience, in addition to marine phosphorescence, dolphins and whales.

Teamwork is an integral part of success onboard the boat, and in addition to learning about themselves, and achieving things they never imagined, they will make friendships to last a lifetime.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: In addition to witnessing the natural magic of the ocean and its inhabitants, each student crew will make friendships to last a lifetime. Campers will take responsibility for themselves and their fellow shipmates, learning to work as a team with others as they hoist and brace the yards on the ship's 130-foot tall rig and apply acquired navigational skills to guide the ship's course on a voyage of discovery.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: As a non-profit organization we are committed to making this amazing experience available to everyone. Because we are new, an endowment for scholarships is still being developed, however the first 10 sign ups will receive a 10% discount! Please contact us for group discounts. Scholarships will be made available in the near future.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: The Perry will sail year-round, offering experiences for high school and college age students, as well as adult sail-training and team building. The ship will spend the Summers in New England and the Winters in Florida, the Bahamas and the Caribbean.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: LINX CAMPS VOTED ONE OF TOP 3 CAMPS IN METROWEST/BOSTON AREA BY BOSTON PARENTS PAPER!!! All levels of LINX theater camps continue our organization's tradition of large ensemble pieces that provide all performers with equal time on stage and, thereby, equal training to push their talents forward.

Performers are divided by age and each script is adapted to their senses of comedy and drama as well as the parents' sensibilities. Children also receive unique training in improvisation. All activities, including work on the show, are aimed at building performers' confidence and trust in their ideas, not just within the theater, but in life.

All Theater Camps are overseen by LINX's Theater Director, Todd Morse. Todd has 15 years experience instructing students all across the Boston area. He is an expert at making children a part of the acting process. LINX theater has grown up under his ideals of advancing performers through equal roles and using theater to build confidence on stage and off.

Youngest levels are Minors (K-1st grade) and Rookies (2nd - 3rd grade). These performers work on their show while enjoying various elements of a general camp experience. They also receive a swim period each day.

Performers in grades 4th - 8th have two options:
In LINX Theater, they can work on their show while enjoying various elements of a general camp experience. They also receive a swim period each day.

The second option is LX Theater in which the entire day is dedicated to performance. Their 'major' for the session is theater and they select a minor in another performance discipline such as dance, voice, or other elements of stage work such as improvisation and stage combat. These performers do have a swim option.

Performers who work with Todd during the summer never need to endure the stress of an audition for his upper level performance groups. Their summer experience serves as their audition and he will select the group that will provide them with more stress-free fun and learning.

The SavvySource recently listed LINX camps as one of the best camps in Boston. Read the article at Our Camp Website Link: www.linxcamps.com.

Parents of performers with disabilities are encouraged to call, join campus tours, meet with the director and determine that the camps will be fully enjoyable.

One session for teens with a variety of causes, and for the first time ever, a separate session for teens interested in animal activism (and what better location than a Farm Animal Sanctuary!).

Our program also provides a meaningful opportunity for campers to learn more about some of the issues facing our planet and to get inspired and empowered to take action on those issues. Campers choose an issue of importance to them (for example, some have chosen climate change, racism, homophobia, homelessness, animal rights) and at YEA they build the knowledge, skills, confidence, and community to take action on that issue long after camp is over. Youth who have participated in our programs report that the camp was one of the most fun, rewarding and life-changing experiences they have had, and, with YEA's community support, have gone on to start school clubs, plan fundraisers for nonprofits, organize community clean-ups, and attend hearings to comment about important community issues.

New skills, increased self-esteem and lifetime friendships are the results.

CAMP FACILITIES: Our cabins are modern with private bathrooms and showers. We have a recreation hall, a dining hall, outdoor basketball and tennis courts, multiple athletic fields, rustic amphitheater, and a pristine lake for swimming.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Wingate*Kirkland is a nurturing, coed, day and overnight camp where children are inspired and empowered with a choice of daily activities; indeed a traditional camp in many ways, staying true to old fashioned values. And like it was nearly 60 years ago, Camp W*K is not a “plugged in” camp. Children feel supported and confident to step out of their comfort-zone and try new things without the fear of failure. Camper safety, having fun, and developing life skills are our priorities. Camp W*K is also food allergy friendly and completely peanut, tree-nut and sesame free! The talented and dedicated staff have a wealth of experience mentoring children and focus on creating a warm and inclusive community that fosters respect for everyone.

We are ACA accredited.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Our CIT program is for those finishing 10th grade and having previous Camp W*K experience.

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): Campers and their families are invited to join us at Family Camp for Memorial Day Weekend as our guests. Eat in the Dining Hall, participate in activities like tennis or softball, and even sleep in a bunk!

We strongly encourage families of first-time and veteran campers to join us. The weekend is an excellent opportunity for first-time campers to learn their way around Camp, meet some new friends and get comfortable before they arrive in the summer. Members of the Camp W*K Staff will also be in attendance to lead Planning Session, offer periods and answer questions.

OTHER CAMP INFO: Camp W*K is Food Allergy Friendly and Peanut, Tree-nut and Sesame Free

In addition to being completely nut and sesame free, we easily accommodate gluten-free, dairy, wheat, soy, egg, and fish allergies. Vegans or Vegetarians also appreciate our menu options. Our chef uses only fresh ingredients, cooks and bakes from scratch, and ensures there is no cross-contamination of food products. We partner with our families in ensuring that all food sent to Camp is ingredient-checked before being sent to the bunk. This includes food items made with sesame or peanut oil and/or produced in a factory that uses sesame or nuts. The safety and well being of everyone at camp is our priority. In the event of any emergency, we are within five-to-seven minutes of the nearest hospital.
