At NHAOPA we feel there are "no small parts only small actors". Each and every person is important to the success of our show! Each child will have the opportunity to audition for our casting directors. Some young actors are anxious to play the lead role, and some are happy to have a smaller part. BILLY DICROSTA( Artistic Director/ Master Vocal Coach)
International Vocal Artist and Master Vocal Coach Billy DiCrosta has been performing professionally for over 30 years. The youngest of a large Italian American family of six. Billy started performing at the early age of 7 and fell in love with being on stage and touching people's hearts through music. He majored in Vocal Performance and Acting at Western CT State University until transferring to The Hartt School of Music to study Musical Theatre.
He has had the joy of playing such roles as Tony in West Side Story , Mike in A Chorus Line , The Baker in Into The Woods and many more. He also had the great honor of singing at The White House for the Clinton Family in 1997. While on tour From 2006 to 2012 Billy started to coach his cast members and develop his passion for helping others find vocal freedom. During this time he started to lay the foundations of the method he teaches today.
In 2013 he opened the doors to Billy DiCrosta Vocal Studio and became the only Accredited Teacher by International Voice Teachers of Mix Our Camp Website Link: www.ivtom.org in Connecticut. He is also the North Eastern Area Administrator for IVTOM and helps to educate new teachers on Mix Technique. He is a proud member of National Association of Teachers of Singing, Inc. Billy has spent countless hours of taking what he has learned from his past teachers, IVTOM, and Leading Voice Scientists around the world to develop his unique method. Billy is one of the most sought after Vocal Coach's in the North East. Students travel from all over to study his technique and to find the vocal freedom that can only be found in his studio. Those who can't travel enjoy lessons via Skype/Facetime. His students range from beginners to professionals and children to adults. Students have found that in just one lesson ,they have learned more and found more freedom in their voice then they have after studying with their former teachers for years. Even those students who never thought they could sing learn that with Billy if you can speak you CAN sing !
Billy is known for his unique teaching approach and the ability to feel exactly what is going on in students voice that is causing the problem and giving the correct exercise to fix it. Students learn to have fun while training . Thanks to the vocal freedom his students achieve they are able to get leading roles in shows, win competition, get accepted to top universities and work as professional vocalists. Due to the rapid growth of his studio and his drive for always being the best, Billy has founded New Haven Academy of Performing Arts. Refusing to turn away any student who wants to learn his method he needed a way to make sure that could happen. Billy is proud to have personally trained and certified his staff of vocal coaches in his method so that everyone could learn. Just like Billy his coaches are available in person and online.
NEIL FUENTES ( Co-Artistic Director/ Senior Vocal Coach /Acting Coach)
Neil’s passion for the entertainment industry began at a young age. He attended a performing arts school in Venezuela, giving him the acting, singing and dancing chops you now see on television and stage today.
Upon arriving in the United States in 1995 Neil began an 18- year career working his way up the hospitality ladder to become the Director of Catering for the popular multi-unit brew house and restaurant, Southport Brewing Company. Neil put his food and entertainment talents together, creating impressive events, innovative menus, and a flare for the theatrical. In 2006 Neil joined the Connecticut Gay Men's Chorus and continues to perform throughout the state.
In 2012 Neil joins Sonido Libre, a 12 piece Salsa Band as lead singer. Neil develops an amazing show with this band which has been performing since then through the Tri-State Area.
Neil has solidified himself as a Connecticut power talent in both the entertainment and culinary world. “The Sensational Singing Chef”, airing on Connecticut Style on WTNH Television in New Haven, CT since 2009, continues to be a highly rated show for the network, garnering numerous awards and a cult-like following. Neil just became a Food Network Champion on the show REWRAPPED!

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Active Learning Services, Ltd operates enrichment programs designed to stimulate creative thinking, improve thinking, logic and memory skills and give children "thinking alternatives" to sports camps and other summer programs. Our programs include chess programs and camps thru USA Chess, Our Gamebuilder Video Game Creation Programs and our Active Learning Computer Enrichment Programs.
Our staff is, comprised of the best children's chess instructors in North America! The USA Chess camps are uniquely qualified to cater to the needs of the advanced scholastic player as well as the true beginner. USA Chess hit its first milestone in the summer of 2000 producing the largest chess camp ever held in the United States, with more than 250 students enrolled. What was most surprising, however, was the amount of absolute beginners in attendance - more than 50% of the total enrollment was just starting to play chess. This realization led to the national rollout tour of 100 camps in more than 70 cities. The annual tours have been immensely successful with several thousand campers attending this year alone.
USA Chess thrives on providing a structured environment that is extremely conducive to learning chess. We handpick the best children's chess instructors from all over the United States and bring them to each camp. We believe our team is most effective in teaching chess to children of all ages and levels. The exceptional organization and ever-fun curriculum has fueled much interest from scholastic players and coaches from around the country, prompting them to request USA Chess camps in their areas.
At the same summer camp locations, we also offer the immensely popular Gamebuilder Video Game Creation Camps, The Active Learning Computer Animation Programs, and other Computer Enrichment Programs such as Modding, Networking and Hosting with Minecraft. We now offer seven unique programs in all.
At these camps, children are assigned a computer for the week; they spend the week learning to create their own one-of- a- kind video games in our Gamebuilder Camps, Animation Projects in our Animation Camps, also Modding, Networking and Hosting with Minecraft.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: he position of C.I.T. at Winding Trails Summer Day Camp is an important one. If chosen, you will learn many of the skills needed to work with children such as child safety, interaction, new games, age related activities, etc.
Although meeting new friends and having fun here is a by-product of this program, this should not be your primary motive for applying. You should be applying because you have a desire to work with children in a camp setting.
The C.I.T. Program is designed as a two-year program for entering ninth and tenth graders. Some candidates are admitted for one year. This program has become very popular in recent years and competition for our few available openings has been overwhelming. Take your time and fill out the enclosed application completely. It must be filled out by you, not by your parents. Be sure to list any experience you have in working with children, participation in camps, sports or clubs. Please note the swim level that you last completed. Also, give some thought to the essay question and why you want to be in the program.Send a resume if possible.
Based on your application, we will evaluate whether or not we feel you will be a good candidate for our program and an interview may be scheduled. The closing date for applying for this program is Wednesday, February 26, 2014. Interviews will only be held on Saturday March 1, 2014. Decisions will be made based upon the following criteria; application/experience/references 25%, essay 25% and interview 50%.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Hazen is a child-centered community. We focus on each individual and teach skills that kids will use forever. Whether it’s learning a new activity, making friends or becoming more resilient, independent and understanding,we know that campers return home inspired to live in a way that will make them proud.
We're a place where people connect and truly belong.
There is no better feeling than that of coming home from camp having had the experience of a lifetime. Year after year campers leave Camp Hazen having found their best friends. And each summer, the joy of reuniting with counselors and old friends is one of life's greatest rewards. Kids simply love Camp Hazen, and whether it is their first time or they are a lifelong Hazenite, campers find that they belong here more than any other place in the world.
Camp Hazen has more than 90 years of making summers memorable for kids. One of the reasons for this long-term success is the firm belief in maintaining the traditions and values that make campers want to come back year after year. Campfires, ceremonies, singing, camping out under the stars, small cabin groups and a family-like community are as important as helping kids develop their character and confidence.
Camp Hazen YMCA is both licensed by the state of Connecticut and accredited by the American Camp Association.
CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: The LEA program is for teens entering the 11th and 12th grade. The program has a limited number of spots that are decided by an application and interview process with the camp directors.
By participating in the LEA Program, participants will have a full three weeks of leadership workshops, teambuilding, belay training, working together as a group, planning activities, participating in camp program areas and contributing to the camp community. An optional fourth week is dedicated to obtaining an American Red Cross Lifeguard certification.
CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Realizing that families have differing abilities to pay, Camp Hazen YMCA has instituted a voluntary 4-tier pricing program for our Summer Resident Camp and Day Camp programs. All children will have the same experience no matter which tier a family is able to pay. The tier selected by a family will be kept confidential.
Tier 1
is based on the full cost of campers participating in the selected programs. If you are able to pay this amount, please do so. Thank you.
Tier 2
is a partially subsidized rate that will enable families that just can't afford the full cost of the camp program. Please, choose this rate if your family has the need to receive a subsidized rate.
Tier 3
is a more heavily subsidized rate for families whose children would not be able to attend camp otherwise. If you can not afford either of the higher rates, please pay this amount.
Tier 4
is a variable rate for families whose financial assistance need is greater than the subsidized rates above. We provide more significant financial assistance to families that demonstrate need through our Financial Assistance Program. If you need additional assistance, please choose this option and complete a Financial Assistance application.

The last two years the overnights have included campers sleeping in tents, our tipi, or just in a sleeping bag under the stars!
Overnights:
7-9 year old campers have guest visitors from A Place Called Hope, a local raptor rescue. APCH brings their resident owls to meet campers and share with them why they shouldn't be afraid of the woods at night. The noises are usually just a toad or a mouse rustling in the leaves, or the owls calling!
10-12 year old campers enjoy a sunset hike and canoe ride along our lake before heading out on their evening night hike, a sensory experience!
Bushy Mountain campers (ages 13-15) venture farther out onto our property, setting up camp, telling stories around the fire before heading out on a night hike.
SCOUT campers (ages 13-16) will spend the day leading up to the overnight building their debris hut shelters. Each shelter must be sturdy and waterproof (and will be put to the test!). In the evening the campers will use the skills taught during the session to make fire by friction, forage for a meal, make their spoons and bowls, etc.
Adanced SCOUT (age 16+) is for campers who have completed a minimum of 3 years in our SCOUT program, have demonstrated a near mastery level of basic survival skills. A group of campers and two staff members will spend a week in the woods using the skills they learned in the previous years to survive with the bare minimum of supplies. Campers must complete a skills test and must be at least 16 years old before they can be accepted into Advanced SCOUT.
Fringe SCOUT is a program for campers who have successfully completed Advanced SCOUT and who are interested in focusing and becoming a master of a specific skill set. Fringe SCOUT campers live in the woods for a week with the focus less on survival skills and more on knowledge, understanding, and development of one skill.

CAMPER GENDER(S): Coed Campers.
BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: Two Coyotes Wilderness School offers up to 9 weeklong day camp sessions at our Newtown & Granby locations for kids age 5-15. Each session is led by skilled nature mentors who introduce your child to primitive and naturalist skills by tailoring each camp day to match their natural curiosity. Campers learn how to craft handmade tools and art projects from natural materials, track animals, identify bird language, make friction fires, build forts and shelters, and forage for safe wild edibles. Our advanced sessions feature an overnight campout for kids age 9-15. Along the way, all campers learn nature-inspired games, songs, and have free time to explore streams, mountainsides, and other unexpected nature mysteries. We also offer Coyote Pup half-day "mini-camps" for little ones 5 and under, with an adult.
CAMP INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED:
Wilderness/Nature, and more.
CAMP LOCATION: We have two locations. In Newtown, CT we run our camp out of Sticks & Stones Farm, a 60-acre privately-owned space that is open to the community. In Granby, CT we run our camp out of Holcomb Farm, 367-acre working farm and community gathering place operated collaboratively between the Town of Granby and a Board of local citizens.
▌Read More about Two Coyotes Wilderness School Summer Camp
CAMP FACILITIES: Both of our camp locations feature extensive hiking trails, primitive campsites for overnights, creeks for wading and catching critters, and grassy fields for playing games.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Two Coyotes Wilderness School is a nonprofit nature mentoring organization that connects people to nature, community, and self. We design interdisciplinary programs that provide a dynamic environment for students to face challenges, engage their natural curiosity, and cultivate an intrinsic love for learning that they bring back into the classroom and the rest of their lives.
We believe that nature connection is our birthright, and that catching frogs, muddy knees, and exploring wild places are essential to growing up strong and healthy. We believe that long-term nature mentoring can help children to thrive and navigate the many stages of their lives. Our mentors help children understand who they are, what their gifts are, and how to bring them to the world. We believe that this work is essential to creating a healthier, more connected future.
Since 2000, we have honed our innovative and transformative programs as the school has grown to employ 34 part-time instructors who provide long-term mentorship to more than 500 students (birth to 17) annually through school day, weekend, child & caregiver, rites of passage, and summer camp programs. We are committed to ensuring that Two Coyotes programming is accessible, welcoming, and inclusive of all children and families in Connecticut.
Our staff are a fun-loving bunch of adults (and a few exceptional teens) who are passionate about helping kids connect to nature. We call our teaching staff “mentors” because they help people discover their gift and power by connecting them to nature and their heart.
Our teaching style follows the "coyote mentoring" method of teaching, where lessons are indirect, yet transformational. Within this framework, our skilled nature mentors tailor each day's activities to the needs and interests of the youth, including comfort and familiarity with spending a day in a natural environment. This cultivates young people's innate curiosity and a passion for learning that will serve them when they are back in the classroom and in their future careers.
Regardless of how youth encounter our programs, all our immersive wilderness-based learning experiences challenge them to build a deeper connection to nature, community, and their own personal empowerment. We believe this results in stronger intergenerational connections, deeper community ties, greater self-awareness, and profound respect for the natural world.
CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: We offer a Mentor-in-Training program for teens who have grown up in our programs and/or are interested in pursuing a career in wilderness mentoring. The MIT program is offered during the summer in both Newtown and Granby. It includes 2 weeks of leadership training & development, plus at least 1 service week with one of our youth camps.
CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: At Two Coyotes Wilderness School, we believe that nature connection is a right, not a privilege. Scholarships are available when you register for any of our programs, thanks to the generous support of our community. More information about how to apply for scholarships is available here: Our Camp Website Link: twocoyotes.org
YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: During the school year, we offer weekly school day programs in Newtown, Granby, and Killingworth to children who are homeschooled and children who leave their traditional school one day/week to learn outdoors with us. We also offer monthly weekend programs based on Wildwood, our popular adventure-fantasy summer camp. Little ones (0-5) can enroll in our weekly Coyote Pups Caregiver & Child program with an adult. We offer some adult programming and also host family-friendly community events throughout the year.
OTHER CAMP INFO: We are a licensed camp registered with the Connecticut Department of Health. Each year they conduct an unannounced inspection for our camps to ensure we meet the health and safety regulations. We are in compliance with all stated rules and regulations.
Each of our camp locations is managed by an experienced camp director who works for Two Coyotes year-round in the field and has a First Aid Director onsite who is trained in adult and pediatric CPR and First Aid.
Our ratio of campers to staff is at least 6:1, with a maximum of 12 students in each camp group. This ensures groups small enough to provide a fun and intensive experience while large enough to have a diversity of kids and ample opportunity to make new friends.
Each group of campers is led by two instructors, one of which must be a Lead Instructor. Lead Instructors have hundreds of hours of field experience working in the woods with kids. These instructors are always dedicated adults who are passionate about connecting kids to nature. They are typically in their 20s or older and have a significant amount of life experience behind them.
Sometimes a camp group includes an Assistant Instructor. Assistant Instructors are typically adults who are newer to the field of wilderness mentoring but share a love for working with kids outdoors. Assistants may also be responsible teens who have grown up in our programs and have likely completed our Mentor-in-Training program over the course of one or more summers.
All of our field staff attend an intensive annual summer training that focuses on safety, emergency protocol, first aid, and our core curriculum. The majority of our instructors have received outside first aid and CPR certification, which may include Wilderness First Aid. Each camp group carries a walkie-talkie and a first aid kit to address minor health needs in the field. Serious injuries and illnesses are handled by calling parents or 911 if needed. We have a camp doctor on call to advise us on medical situations and protocol.
All staff have passed criminal and sexual offender background checks, and have provided both personal and professional references.
