CAMP FACILITIES: The James 4-H Camp & Outdoor Learning Center holds camping programs April through October. FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): Arizona 4-H Family Camp (May 2014)

CAMP FACILITIES: The students will get the full experience with a proscenium stage, full stage lighting, and a dressing room.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Students in the June session of Young Actors Camp will audition for, rehearse, and perform an original play, Around the WORLD in Just 5 Plays, written just for this camp. It will be a multicultural adventure through folklore and common stories from different parts of the world.

July students will perform a TBD musical. Our musicals tend to feature familiar tunes in a completely new setting. Enjoy not only learning to act and sing, but also learning to dance with trained choreographer.

Both sessions are taught by experienced instructors with a passion for youth and the performing arts!

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: The City of Tempe continues to offer drama/theatre classes year round for students ages 4-12.

Classes include:
School Kids in Drama - a miniature versión of the summer camp, learning a 10-minute play over 8 weeks.

Readers Theatre- all of the fun of a one-act play, but none of the pressure to memorize (great for English language learners and those who would like to see improvement in reading comprehension)

Creative Drama - for the young ones, begin learning a variety of acting skills through fun drama games and activities.

CAMP FACILITIES: We have two bunkhouses and one lodge housing 120 people in 16 rooms, all with heating/ac and bathrooms. There is a main chapel, indoor swimming pool, two dining halls, a small meeting hall/staff lounge and 6 full RV sites.

Sports at camp include softball, basketball, field games, archery & rifle ranges, limited mountain biking and rock climbing, an obstacle course and a 425 ft. long zip line.

We also have a craft shop, an old museum, an outdoor amphitheater with a large stage, fire pit and outdoor lighting, a large game room with snack corner and a Christian bookstore selling camp apparel and reading material.

Our Indian Oaks tipi village is currently under reconstruction and will be opening in 2015.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our summer camp programs are open to children from grades 1 - 12 and are grouped accordingly. Summer camp is Christian based with exciting speakers, fun weekly themes and live Christian bands for the junior and senior high weeks of camp. There are plenty of activities throughout the day and evening to keep the kids moving and having fun with others.

Throughout the remainder of the year, the camp is open to various rental groups from the surrounding communities that use the camp for a variety of activities. Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and others use the camp for activities, earning badges and doing service work.

Churches bring out youth, men and women for weekend retreats while a number of charter, private and public schools use the camp for science programs and overnight stays while exploring the rich history of southern Arizona.

We are host to several family reunions each year and also are privileged to host and cook for special dinners and receptions held at the camp.

Each winter the camp hosts up to 4 RV couples from the SOWER's program that brings volunteer workers to the camp to help with remodeling, repairs and new construction at the camp.

Cooking internships available for those interested in learning more about commercial kitchens and cooking for large groups, dates vary throughout the year.

OTHER CAMP INFO: Huachuca Oaks is conveniently located just 40 minutes southeast of I-10, within 30 minutes drive of such great historic towns as Tombstone, Bisbee and an hour from Douglas. This area is well know for such characters as Doc Holliday, Wyatt Earp, Geronimo & Cochise, the outlaw Pancho Villa along with copper, silver and gold mines.

Other areas of interest include the Ramsey Canyon hummingbird sanctuary, Kartchner Caverns, Coronado National Memorial, the Slaughter Ranch, the Dragoon Mtns. and Chiricahua National Monument.

We are always open to interested volunteers who have skills in construction and maintenance, housekeeping, cooking, office work and landscaping.

The camp is owned by the Southwest Church Connection, a non-profit 501(c)3 and the camp is also a stand-alone non-profit 501(c)3 organization. We are in partnership with Prescott Pines Christian Camp located in Prescott, AZ.

Founded in 1947, the Phoenix Boys Choir offers programs featuring training in voice, music theory, and performance for boys age 7 to 14. Members of the Phoenix Boys Choir receive a world-class music education and one of the most significant experiences of their lives.

The Artistic Staff at the Phoenix Boys Choir includes music educators who are not only certified and highly qualified music education instructors, with a specific focus on choral music, they are also artists themselves and engender a love of the arts to our students.

The Choir has performed with the Phoenix Symphony, Arizona Opera, Phoenix Chorale, Orpheus Male Chorus of Phoenix, collaborated with Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Musical Instrument Museum, Phoenix Youth Symphony and the Desert Botanical Garden. Additionally, the Phoenix Boys Choir was invited to perform at the inauguration of Governor Doug Ducey, and also sang at the memorial service for former Governor Raul Castro. The Choir has performed the National Anthem for the Phoenix Suns, Arizona Diamondbacks, Phoenix Coyotes, 2021 NASCAR Race, Arizona Rattlers and the Arizona Cardinals. The Choir is a Phoenix point of pride.

Beginning with the Cadet Choir, boys can progress to Town and Tour choirs, and upon graduation, participate in the Young Men's Ensemble and then the Masters Choir. When the boys reach the performance levels of Town and Tour Choir, they have the opportunity to travel nationally and internationally.

CAMP FACILITIES: The on-site casita village is composed of 28 rustic, Santa Fe-style houses. Each casita has multiple, private bedrooms that share a central living room and large kitchen (although all meals and snacks are provided in a central location for the 2017 Biosphere 2 Summer Science Academy). Bathrooms are generally shared (suite-style) among a couple of bedrooms. The oversized rooms feature high-speed, wireless internet access and central air conditioning.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Student participants will learn and practice science 'under-the-glass', participating in hands-on research projects in the Biosphere 2 biomes: tropical rainforest, savanna, ocean, mangrove marsh, and coastal fog desert. Participants will apply scientific skills to conduct experiments and collect data while working side-by-side with Biosphere 2 researchers. The week will culminate with presentations of research findings. All instruction and activities are conducted in English.

The ratio of researchers/counselors to students is at least 1:8. The Academy staff also includes UA Outreach Scholars who will chaperone the casitas. The Outreach Scholars are college undergraduate and graduate students drawn from the University of Arizona.

Complete with a basketball hoop, volleyball net, soccer and hockey goals, kids will be running and playing non-stop while learning fundamental sport skills to create life lasting independent success as they continue sports.

By applying our methodology… Sportball helps children to develop socially as well as physically, through a curriculum designed to reinforce self confidence free from the pressure of competition. In our programs, children from 16 months to 12 years of age, are provided with a skills driven, high energy and fun filled curriculum.

Sportball Multi-Sport programs introduce children to the fundamental concepts and skills behind eight popular ball sports: baseball, football, basketball, volleyball, hockey, soccer, tennis and golf. Using creative instruction and positive encouragement, our programs focus on the development of gross motor skills, along with balance, strength, coordination, stamina and timing. Coaches focus on gross motor development with games and skills introduced in a fun, creative and nurturing environment. YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Sing School Children's Choir has a regular season from August through May. During our regular season, we focus on healthy vocal production, musicianship, choral repertoire and performance techniques. Our choirs are for children ages 5-15. We offer a week-long summer Broadway workshop for children 8-15 during June.

CAMP FACILITIES: We have 29 cabins, outdoor pool, dining hall, outdoor basketball courts/tennis courts, rustic amphitheater, smaller meeting room, challenge course, meadow, areas for campfires, outdoor meeting area, and a small pond on the property.

CAMP FACILITIES: Embry Riddle Aeronautical University has everything needed to operate a soccer training program at the highest level. The campus has a large lighted grass field for training and games. The field has thick grass that is well maintained by the college staff. Adjacent to the field are two sand volleyball courts that can be used for goalkeeper training or just a casual free time game of sand soccer. Lights on the field allow for added time in the evening for scrimmages. Rest room facilities are next to the field. The camp also provides a Certified Athletic Trainer at the field to professionally treat any injuries that may occur.

Campers live in the modern air-conditioned dorm on the college campus and are housed two per room. Each suite has a refrigerator for keeping drinks cold. Each suite of three rooms has its own bathroom and shower facilities. The dorms also have laundry facilities. The new dining hall on campus provides three meals each day prepared by Sodexo Food Services. Plenty of options are available, including vegetarian and gluten free.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona, has served as the home for the Arizona Soccer Camp since 2007. The site’s 5,400 feet altitude makes it the perfect facility for preseason training. The campus has everything needed to operate a soccer training program at the highest level. Camp consists of a full week of training, games and fun challenges. There are penalty kick competitions, Soccer Olympics, Super Soccer, and the Styro Cup Challenge. At the end of the week, each camper sits down with their coach and receives a full written evaluation to help prepare for the new season.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation’s innovative Summer Art and Architecture Camps give students the opportunity to think and work outside the box. Located at Taliesin West, Frank Lloyd Wright’s winter home and desert laboratory, the Summer Art and Architecture Camps will encourage students to explore, create, and design in the significant setting. Students will see how their unique ideas can have a true impact on the world around them, as they engage in the fun and educational activities.

Photographing Wright

The landmark architecture of Taliesin West is the backdrop for a weeklong photographic journey. Local Arizona photographer Andrew Pielage will guide students in capturing the Sonoran Desert and National Historic Landmark around them. Students learn the tools needed to best utilize a camera including aperture, shutter speed, and ISO, while applying creative approaches to composition, image framing, and the challenges of light and shadow. (Limited to 10 students) Students must provide their own fully manual camera and corresponding USB cable. It is highly encouraged that students provide their own laptop for editing photographs.

Our program is the only one of its kind, intentionally bringing together diverse teenagers to learn appropriate and effective methods of discussing difficult topics, such as differences of race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, socio-economic status and other social identifiers.

CAMP FACILITIES: We are currently occupying around 15,000 sq. ft. of space. We have 3 smaller instruction rooms, a small rehearsal/drum instruction room, 2 larger rehearsal rooms/classrooms, a very large main stage performance room/rehearsal room, a lunch room for all the campers, two large rest rooms and a dressing/green room.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: We are going to teach the art of learning and mapping out songs. This will include the various genres or music over our 8 1-week music camps. We will teach each camper how to be a band leader, stage performance, communication on the bandstand, how to rehearse and ultimately, how to perform. We have some of the most distinguished musical talent on our advisory board who are responsible for outlining a successful music program for our young campers.

Besides teaching music and music related subjects, we are committed to teaching the business of music so that our young and talented campers will someday be able to follow their dream and passion of being a performing artist and sustain a living at doing so, much like our founder, Joe Costello.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: At this point, we are too new to offer any sort of scholarships or financial aid but we are looking into the programs.

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): At this point, we are not offering any family camps during the summer but we are looking into a family program on Saturday mornings like a drum circle type event.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: We offer year-round music instruction, band coaching, music business expertise, mentoring programs, workshops, clinics, seminars, rehearsal space & online music courses.

OTHER CAMP INFO: Our camp offers an 8AM drop off and a 6PM pickup for those parents needing time to get to work and get back to the camp after work. There will be a small fee associated with this extra accommodation.

SUMMER CAMP JOBS:
We are looking for high school seniors who are fairly advanced on their instrument and/or voice, that would be interested in being camp counselors. This will be a minimum wage paid position. 

CAMP FACILITIES: In 2008, Childsplay officially opened the Sybil B. Harrington Campus for Imagination and Wonder, a 33,000 square foot support facility. The former Mitchell School facility provides more than 7,000 sq. ft. of administrative offices, 5,500 sq. ft. of classrooms for the Childsplay Academy, 7,000 sq. ft. of production space for prop and costume construction and storage, 7,000 sq ft for rehearsal halls and support space, and approximately 6,000 sq. ft. of storage.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: At Childsplay Theatre Academy, kids work with top local actors, directors, choreographers, music directors and professional teaching artists. All class instructors have an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and are background checked.

All Childsplay classes work on acting techniques and are a great way to gain skills while developing confidence, making friends and, most importantly, having fun!

A 3 weeks summer program classes are offered for 2-3 weeks for the lower levels and from 1-3 weeks for the upper levels.

This is the eighth year of our Imagination Theatre Camp for young children. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: We believe the best way to learn music is to play music. We take students from the lesson room to the stage, developing both their confidence and musicianship with programs designed for all skill levels.

School of Rock teaches guitar, bass, vocals, keyboards, drums and combines weekly private music instruction and group band rehearsals to prepare students to take the stage in front of live audiences in an authentic concert setting.

Our instructors live to play and play to live. They are experienced professional musicians that can instruct students on the finer points of their instrument, while at the same time educating them on everything that goes into putting on a great live show.

We teach and perform music on professional equipment that our students love to play and our audiences love to hear. From the fundamental roots of rock and roll through classic rock, funk, reggae, heavy metal, alternative, indie and prog rock - we share, engage and celebrate it all.

Each session totals $500. $250 deposit required for enrollment. Camp is 100% refundable up to one month prior to the start date, 50% refundable up to one week prior to the start date, non-refundable if cancelled the day of the camp.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Southwest Shakespeare Company is a long established professional theatre company in Arizona that specializes in classical theatre. The program is headed by Clay Sanderson, an actor, director, and teacher in Phoenix. Mr. Sanderson holds an MFA in Acting from The Theatre School at DePaul University, has appeared in over thirty professional theatre productions, and is currently the drama teacher at Tempe Preparatory Academy. Associate director Jamie Bauer is a Zoni-winning director who specializes in youth theatre.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: We typically provide one full tuition scholarship each summer.

CAMP SESSION DATES & FEES:
Classes and rehearsals begin on Monday, June 11 and will run from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday (we can work around most vacations and other rehearsal conflicts).

We will have our final week of camp and perform the show in the Farnsworth Theatre at the Mesa Arts Center.

Tuition for this twenty hour a week, six week program is only $450. Audience admission to the performances is free.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Details for each session:

Takes place Monday-Thursday each week in June from 10:00-12:30 and includes the lunch you prepare that day (THIS IS A DROP-OFF PROGRAM)
Has a MINIMUM OF 6 students and a maximum of 8 students
Without a minimum of 6 students met per session, clients will be fully refunded for class session.
Cost of $250 per week
Due to the nature of the class and planning ahead and purchasing food items, refunds will only be given for the week’s session if notified 48 hours in advance AND the spot can be filled with another student. Please choose your week(s) carefully!
During the course of the week, students will

Learn to properly set a table
Learn kitchen and dining etiquette
Learn proper knife skills
Develop proper sanitation habits
Get tips on approaching shopping AND how to read labels

CAMP FACILITIES: Our North Scottsdale climate-controlled facility offers a comfortable space for our campers to learn, explore, experience, create, and grow during the hot Arizona summer months. Our unique indoor gym space houses our sports and fitness program.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Your child's summer can be a time for fun, building confidence, achievement, creativity and discovery at JGS Summer Learning Adventures! Our weekly half and full day sessions are worthy of a fun, enriching summer break. With hands-on projects, and engaging activities, campers explore various areas of interest and discover new things.

At our summer camp, campers choose their own Summer Learning Adventures! Each weekly session allows campers to pick from two morning block (9am-12pm) choices and two afternoon block (1pm-4pm) choices. Morning choices include Core Academics or Sports & STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). Afternoon choices include Sports & STEM or the session's Thematic Unit. First through fourth grade Thematic Units include Grossology, Rebels & Redcoats, Dramatic Arts, Secret Soy School, Around the World in Four Days, Castles & Catapults, and Trash to Treasures. Fifth though eight grade Thematic Units include Incredible Architecture, CSI Science, Stop-Motion Animation, Media Madness and Around the World in Four Days.

JGS Summer Learning Adventures is staffed entirely by professional educators (10 campers max. per "counselor"). Our instructors are passionate about working with kids (and it shows!).

CAMP FACILITIES: We have a wet darkroom facility, classroom, lighting studio, digital printing and scanning area, and an alternative photographic process area.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: In this workshop teen students explore the fundamentals and foundations of photography with fun photo projects every day!

Students will gain an overview of photographic techniques from digital capture and printing to using black and white film in the darkroom and historical processes.

Using both digital and film cameras, students will print in the digital lab and in the darkroom, and experiment with hand-coated alternative photographic methods. They will use the lighting studio to experiment with strobes and continuous lighting.

Each student will leave with a collection of their artwork made during camp and be featured in an online exhibition at Our Camp Website Link: www.artintersection.com.

Students are welcome to bring their own cell phone/digital camera and film cameras OR use cameras provided by Art Intersection.

Hubbard Sports Camp, established in 1998, is a co-ed multi-sport summer camp offering one week sessions to campers 4 1/2 to 13 years old. Hubbard offers sports and games to meet the interests and skill levels of our campers in a safe, nurturing, structured environment. Campers enjoy soccer, basketball, volleyball, baseball, archery, swimming and many other indoor and outdoor games and activities. Campers build character, self-esteem, and confidence through daily activities geared towards learning and fun in a caring environment. OTHER CAMP INFO: iSG Camps is a division of the International Sporting Group based in Columbus, Ohio. The management of iSG Camps has been operating youth sports camps for over 19 years with a high rate of customer satisfaction. Camps are well organized and designed so that the designated professional athlete can easily come in and interact with youth participants.

We recognize the benefits of sports participation for youth. We work with athletes of all levels. Our priority is to get children involved in physical activity and to help alleviate the ‘couch potato’ mentality that many young people are faced with. For more athletic students, our goal is to help elevate them to the next level. Being involved in our program gives children a sense of belonging, achievement and success that they can then take with them and use in their everyday lives.
