CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Cactus Day Camp provides a full day “traditional” summer program five days a week for 2, 4, 6 or 8 weeks where safety is the priority, friendships are fostered, healthy lifestyles are encouraged and your child's fun is unlimited. Each day is filled with many of our over 20 activities including archery, swimming, gaga, gaming, team sports, gymnastics, crafts, dance, mini golf, model rocketry and more. Founded in 1947, the Phoenix Boys Choir offers programs featuring training in voice, music theory, and performance for boys age 7 to 14. Members of the Phoenix Boys Choir receive a world-class music education and one of the most significant experiences of their lives.

The Artistic Staff at the Phoenix Boys Choir includes music educators who are not only certified and highly qualified music education instructors, with a specific focus on choral music, they are also artists themselves and engender a love of the arts to our students.

The Choir has performed with the Phoenix Symphony, Arizona Opera, Phoenix Chorale, Orpheus Male Chorus of Phoenix, collaborated with Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Musical Instrument Museum, Phoenix Youth Symphony and the Desert Botanical Garden. Additionally, the Phoenix Boys Choir was invited to perform at the inauguration of Governor Doug Ducey, and also sang at the memorial service for former Governor Raul Castro. The Choir has performed the National Anthem for the Phoenix Suns, Arizona Diamondbacks, Phoenix Coyotes, 2021 NASCAR Race, Arizona Rattlers and the Arizona Cardinals. The Choir is a Phoenix point of pride.

Beginning with the Cadet Choir, boys can progress to Town and Tour choirs, and upon graduation, participate in the Young Men's Ensemble and then the Masters Choir. When the boys reach the performance levels of Town and Tour Choir, they have the opportunity to travel nationally and internationally.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Southwest Shakespeare Company is a long established professional theatre company in Arizona that specializes in classical theatre. The program is headed by Clay Sanderson, an actor, director, and teacher in Phoenix. Mr. Sanderson holds an MFA in Acting from The Theatre School at DePaul University, has appeared in over thirty professional theatre productions, and is currently the drama teacher at Tempe Preparatory Academy. Associate director Jamie Bauer is a Zoni-winning director who specializes in youth theatre.

CAMP SESSION DATES & FEES:
Classes and rehearsals begin on Monday, June 11 and will run from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday (we can work around most vacations and other rehearsal conflicts).

We will have our final week of camp and perform the show in the Farnsworth Theatre at the Mesa Arts Center.

We are looking for qualified instructors that have experience teaching ages 4-14 a variety of sports and activities. CPR and Safety Certified.

CAMP FACILITIES: We have two bunkhouses and one lodge housing 120 people in 16 rooms, all with heating/ac and bathrooms. There is a main chapel, indoor swimming pool, two dining halls, a small meeting hall/staff lounge and 6 full RV sites.

Sports at camp include softball, basketball, field games, archery & rifle ranges, limited mountain biking and rock climbing, an obstacle course and a 425 ft. long zip line.

We also have a craft shop, an old museum, an outdoor amphitheater with a large stage, fire pit and outdoor lighting, a large game room with snack corner and a Christian bookstore selling camp apparel and reading material.

Our Indian Oaks tipi village is currently under reconstruction and will be opening in 2015.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our summer camp programs are open to children from grades 1 - 12 and are grouped accordingly. Summer camp is Christian based with exciting speakers, fun weekly themes and live Christian bands for the junior and senior high weeks of camp. There are plenty of activities throughout the day and evening to keep the kids moving and having fun with others.

Throughout the remainder of the year, the camp is open to various rental groups from the surrounding communities that use the camp for a variety of activities. Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and others use the camp for activities, earning badges and doing service work.

Churches bring out youth, men and women for weekend retreats while a number of charter, private and public schools use the camp for science programs and overnight stays while exploring the rich history of southern Arizona.

We are host to several family reunions each year and also are privileged to host and cook for special dinners and receptions held at the camp.

Each winter the camp hosts up to 4 RV couples from the SOWER's program that brings volunteer workers to the camp to help with remodeling, repairs and new construction at the camp.

OTHER CAMP INFO: Huachuca Oaks is conveniently located just 40 minutes southeast of I-10, within 30 minutes drive of such great historic towns as Tombstone, Bisbee and an hour from Douglas. This area is well know for such characters as Doc Holliday, Wyatt Earp, Geronimo & Cochise, the outlaw Pancho Villa along with copper, silver and gold mines.

Other areas of interest include the Ramsey Canyon hummingbird sanctuary, Kartchner Caverns, Coronado National Memorial, the Slaughter Ranch, the Dragoon Mtns. and Chiricahua National Monument.

We are always open to interested volunteers who have skills in construction and maintenance, housekeeping, cooking, office work and landscaping.

The camp is owned by the Southwest Church Connection, a non-profit 501(c)3 and the camp is also a stand-alone non-profit 501(c)3 organization. We are in partnership with Prescott Pines Christian Camp located in Prescott, AZ.

CAMP FACILITIES: Our camps are indoors and utilizes the space in order to rotate games and activities for the younger group and the older kids group. 40 minutes on and 15 minutes rest is the typical rotation time but down time and up time is adjusted based on activity levels of the participants and instructors.

Yes, your children will be running, jumping, playing, sweating and laughing all day and they WILL be tired at pick-up time! At B.E.S.T. your child is not just a number in hoards of children. Each is a special individual, we learn their names, their likes and dislikes, what they excel at and teach them accordingly. FOOD & SNACKS

Snacks: B.E.S.T. will serve fresh fruit for morning and/or afternoon snacks daily. This has been cleared as a nut free snack by all who have been concerned. We encourage you to pack one snack for half day campers and 2 snacks for full day campers if your children do not like this. Lunch: We will be eating lunch every day at 12:00pm-1:00pm. Please supply your child with a sack lunch daily with their name on the sack along with an ice pack inside if required and certainly if they are picky

A.M. HALF DAY KIDS: DO NOT NEED TO bring a LUNCH! ALL AM Kids and FULL DAY kids get fed.

Friday Lunch: Do not pack a sack lunch on Fridays! It is a special FREE PIZZA FRIDAY! FREE for all our full-day campers! Please DO supply a sack lunch if your child does not eat pizza. They will each receive 2 full slices of pizza so if they require a lot more nourishment please pack some additional food. Should half day campers want to join us they will be charged an additional $5 for this additional hour. Drinks: Water is the only beverage we supply each day. Your child’s water bottle will be replenished with bottled water throughout the day (and is always available through our water fountain) so they always remain hydrated.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: We welcome C.I.T.'s (Counselors in Training) 14-15 year olds to join us in Camp to facilitate our Senior instructors. This is an unpaid position but one to learn how to facilitate, lead and care for children in this sports camp setting.

CAMP FACILITIES: Our Scottsdale Gym is a great indoor space to get away from the Phoenix heat. Coaches focus on gross motor development with games and skills introduced in a fun, creative and nurturing environment. Sportball Kids programs introduce children to non-competitive activities, skill progression & parent assisted skill practice. The 45 minute class each week is just the right amount of time for the little ones to develop new found confidence and improved balance and coordination.

CAMP FACILITIES: CEDO's field station is located in the Las Conchas housing development, the “Jewel of Sonora”. CEDO’s campus sits atop one of the highest dunes east of the town center of Rocky Point, and is outlined by an elegant sinuous wall and entry gate. The main edifice is constructed in the Spanish architectural style with an open patio courtyard and a wrap around balcony overlooking the Sea of Cortez. There is a boys' room and a girls' room on the balcony level, where the children sleep in their own sleeping bag on sleeping pads provided by CEDO. The facilities have ample bathrooms, a large kitchen and a laboratory.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Summer has an adventure in store for you: an adventure in marine biology! CEDO’s Wet Feet Ocean Camp is an overnight summer camp for youth ages 9-12. For five days and four nights children will explore the Upper Gulf of California intertidal zone and surrounding Sonoran Desert. Accommodations will be provided at the CEDO field station in Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, Mexico. The cost is $515, with an optional (additional) $100 island cruise to Isla San Jorge. We ask you to make a $100 reservation deposit as soon as possible for each child attending the camp.

Campers will explore the marine biology of the Upper Gulf of California through both field study and hands-on activities. Uncovering brittle stars, nudibranchs, and octopi in the intertidal zone; dancing for shrimp in the estuary; discovering the secrets of different marine organisms that live in this biologically rich area — these are only a few of the activities in which the campers will participate.

Counselors with experience in marine biology and desert ecology, and trained in First Aid and CPR, will staff the camp. All food and beverages (including purified water) will be provided for campers on site. Campers will have the opportunity to visit downtown Rocky Point (Puerto Peñasco) and should bring some spending money, but will spend the majority of their time in the field, or at CEDO.

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): Family members may join the island cruise for an additional cost per person. On the last day of camp, family members are invited to see the campers' presentations, followed by lunch (at an additional nominal cost per family member).

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: A casual visitor to CEDO may enjoy a self-guided tour of our botanical garden, take a close up look at our 55 foot fin whale skeleton, browse the books and treasures in our gift shop and more.

CEDO also offers unique opportunities to explore the sea and desert through our NaturArte ecotours. Go for a hike in North America’s largest "sea of sand", kayak the tidal channels of Morua Estuary, or explore the diverse marine life found in the tidepools of the Northern Gulf of California.

What will my child be doing at Wet Feet Ocean Camp?

Some common activities include: Wading, swimming, snorkeling, boating, hiking, digging on the beach, cooking, singing, playing, meeting new people, interacting with Spanish speakers, learning new facts, thinking about the future, creating, eating, running, learning something new, and much more!

Don’t worry, English-only speakers will be comfortable interacting in this intercultural camp, our bilingual counselors will facilitate the process.

CAMP FACILITIES: The camp facilities include 20 modern cabins, 2 dormitory style buildings, fire-pits, flushing toilets, dining hall, covered program ramadas and several miles of scenic hiking trails.

Program facilities include: archery range, low and high challenge course, outdoor stage and seating for up to 200, ceramics studio, dance studio, fiber arts library, nature education resources, outdoor cooking learning lab and coming soon...videography lab.

Camp counselors are housed in nearby cabins within each unit.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Directors recruit and screen mature, qualified staff who have a desire to share their enthusiasm for camping, the outdoors, and arts. We also hire staff from other countries to give your camper the chance to broaden her understanding of other cultures. All camp staff participate in an intensive pre-camp training which includes program, first aid, CPR, camping, human relations skills and drug-testing.
Specially qualified staffers direct the archery, challenge course, ceramics, drama, dance and trip programs.

Most of the camp staff are college students studying education, sociology and outdoor recreation – among many others. All staff must be 18 or older.

CAMP FACILITIES: We have three class rooms and all of the necessary materials and supplies for all of the campers who participate in the program.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: All of our instructors have degrees in their subject area, have to maintain an updated finger print card, and have taught for several years. This is the eighth year of our Imagination Theatre Camp for young children. We want to give each child an opportunity to explore, create and learn about theatre and musical theatre while having a great time.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation’s innovative Summer Art and Architecture Camps give students the opportunity to think and work outside the box. Located at Taliesin West, Frank Lloyd Wright’s winter home and desert laboratory, the Summer Art and Architecture Camps will encourage students to explore, create, and design in the significant setting. Students will see how their unique ideas can have a true impact on the world around them, as they engage in the fun and educational activities.

Architectural Discovery

While in the Architectural Discovery camp, younger students will explore various aspects of architecture and learn about some of Frank Lloyd Wright’s most famous architectural concepts. Students become junior architects as they use art, math, science, and language to create innovative spaces. Photographing Wright

The landmark architecture of Taliesin West is the backdrop for a weeklong photographic journey. Local Arizona photographer Andrew Pielage will guide students in capturing the Sonoran Desert and National Historic Landmark around them. Students learn the tools needed to best utilize a camera including aperture, shutter speed, and ISO, while applying creative approaches to composition, image framing, and the challenges of light and shadow. (Limited to 10 students) Students must provide their own fully manual camera and corresponding USB cable. It is highly encouraged that students provide their own laptop for editing photographs.

ARIZONA: Camp Shane Arizona located at the naturally beautiful Orme School with 360 degree views of distant mesas and mountains boasting 19th century ranch buildings is truly a place to laugh, learn and lose weight. At an elevation of 4000 feet the climate is remarkably ideal without the intense heat of southern Arizona. This camp is unique in that it offers 25,000 acres for horseback riding as well as the facility offers climate controlled indoor gymnasiums, green playing fields and lawns and a beautiful outdoor pool. With a climate controlled state of the art fitness center, a variety of outdoor sporting facilities, a huge aquatic center and 6 brand new tennis courts Camp Shane California will transform your camper’s life. Our focus is always on having fun combined with a balance of fitness and nutrition for a truly life-changing experience. GEORGIA: Camp Shane Georgia’s campus is located at Emmanuel College in northeast Georgia in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. An hour and a half drive from Atlanta, Georgia it's a quiet and safe setting on 200 acres. All facilities air-conditioned and it boasts an indoor 9-lane collegiate size pool, Aquatic Center, 4000 Sq.ft. air-conditioned Fitness Center with state of the art wellness equipment, fabulous new dormitories, quad style with one or two campers sharing a bathroom. Minutes from Georgia state parks, river activities, and Lake Hartwell. It's a wonderful place to experience summer fun while learning about nutrition, healthy cooking and fitness.

TEXAS: Camp Shane Texas is set on a lovely 83-acre, beautifully landscaped and wooded campus with attractive and well kept facilities in gorgeous Texas Hill Country setting. Dormitories are modern with custom furniture, granite bathroom counter tops and polished concrete floors. All sport facilities, dorms and classrooms are air conditioned. There is an outdoor classroom, garden, orchard, chicken coop, and miles of nature trails as well as a state-of-the-art weight room, fitness center, multi-purpose room, two gymnasiums and a new indoor swimming pool. Wholesome and nutritious Shane approved healthy menu prepared on-site. We are not a fat camp nor are we a boot camp. We combine all the fun of traditional summer camp with the benefits of weight loss.

WISCONSIN: Camp Shane Wisconsin is set on 80 acres, located off the shore of Lake Michigan. Dorms are newly constructed, modern and fully air-conditioned. There is an extensive, state of the art, multi-million-dollar fitness center and large grass playing fields to run fun fitness activities outdoors. The property also boasts an Olympic size indoor swimming pool – great for water exercise. Extensive walking paths on the grounds allow for easy exercise and a scenic river runs through the campus which is suitable for kayaking. CAMP FACILITIES: We have 40 horses at our facility and lesson horses that are very safe. The camp director, Marcia Everett, is a highly recognized equine instructor accross the US. She is kind and patient with all the kids and keeps it very fun and educational for all ages!
