BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: Academic Leadership Summer Camps for Outstanding 4th-8th graders. Outstanding students from across Texas meet in Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin/San Antonio, or Houston/Galveston for a week of fun, learning, leadership development, and visits to unique and historically significant Texas destinations. Each day students explore notable Texas sites, learn about unique careers from professionals at sites visited, and develop their leadership abilities during leadership groups with their facilitators. All adult facilitators, one for every ten students, are Texas teachers. In addition to improving their leadership abilities, participants gain self-confidence and independence and develop new friendships with other high-achieving students from across the state.

CAMP LOCATION: We offer three Lone Star Leadership Academy camp experiences. Lodging for the Dallas/Fort Worth camp is located at 10200 Alta Vista Rd., Keller, TX 76244. Lodging for the Austin/San Antonio camp is located at 16000 Ranch Rd. 12, Wimberley, TX 78676. Lodging for the Houston/Galveston camp is located at 7714 FM 359, Richmond, TX 77406. Students spend their days traveling to visit significant Texas sites in each of the camp cities on charter buses with Texas educators and come back to the lodging locations at night.
CAMP FACILITIES: No fewer than two adults of the same gender provide constant supervision in each air-conditioned, group bunk dormitory.

Academic Leadership Summer Camps for Outstanding 4th-8th graders
Outstanding students meet in Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin/San Antonio, or Houston/Galveston for a week of fun, learning, leadership development, and visits to unique and historically significant Texas destinations. Each day students explore notable Texas sites, learn about unique careers from professionals at sites visited, and develop their leadership abilities during leadership groups with their facilitators.
All adult facilitators, one for every ten students, are Texas teachers. In addition to improving their leadership abilities, participants gain self-confidence and independence and develop new friendships with other high-achieving students. Participants must maintain an 85 or higher average and receive an educator recommendation based on demonstrated leadership ability.

CAMP SESSION DATES & FEES:
Lone Star Leadership Academy camps are offered throughout the summer. Cost is $995 and covers everything the student needs for the week including lodging, meals, all entrance and activity fees, supplies, t-shirts each day, backpack, and camp souvenirs. Contact Education in Action for early application deadlines. Final summer application deadline: May 9, 2020. Late applications are accepted through two weeks prior to each program's start date.
