BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: Get outside this Summer at the Cora Hartshorn Arboretum! Each week of Nature Discovery Camp we will explore a different nature theme. Campers will spend the day exploring that theme through guided investigations, hands-on exploration, and outdoor activity. Please bring a lunch and snack and dress for the outdoors!
CAMP INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED:
Science, Wilderness/Nature, and more.
CAMP LOCATION: We are located in Short Hills, New Jersey across from the Short Hills Train Station, on the corner of Chatham Rd and Forest Drive South.
CAMP FACILITIES: The Arboretum grounds total 16.5 acres of forest habitat, host a variety of native New Jersey wildflower species and are home to over 40 species of trees, many species of birds and an array of ferns.
Our building consists of an entrance, bird observatory, and the Stone House which houses animal exhibits, including sculptural trees, a climbing structure with an incorporated crawl space, and a small collection of live, native animals.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: We have 3 age groups: 3-5 year olds (Turtle Tots);
1st-3rd grade (Explorers), and 4th-6th grade (Hawks).
Turtle Tots is provided as a half day program (9am-12:30pm) and also afternoon sessions(1:30pm-3pm) on certain weeks. Explorers and Hawks are a full day program (9am-3pm).

CAMP SESSION DATES & FEES:
Nature Discovery Camp at Cora Hartshorn Arboretum runs from June 26th-August 18th, 2017.
Our Summer Mini camp (Turtle Tots only) runs from June 12-16th and June 19th-21st. From insect investigations to outdoor adventures each week explores a different nature theme. Campers can register for one or more weeks!

SUMMER CAMP JOBS:
Position: SUMMER CAMP ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATOR
The Cora Hartshorn Arboretum (CHA) is looking for enthusiastic educators for our Nature Discovery Summer Camp. This is a hands-on, field position that involves teaching and managing campers in outdoor, environmental, and recreational activities. Summer Camp Educators must be committed to work with the CHA staff for at least 3 training days and 8 day-camp weeks (Monday to Friday).
Dates: June 26th, 2017 to August 18th, 2017.
