BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: Camp Whitcomb/Mason is a week-long outdoor adventure for youth ages 7-17! Campers sleep in cabins under the pine trees and enjoy a wide range of activities such as swimming, canoeing, hiking, archery, sports, nature, art, and more!
CAMP INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED:
Fine Arts/Crafts, Basketball, Soccer, Swimming, Waterfront/Aquatics, Team Sports, Science, Technology, Adventure, Wilderness/Nature, and more. High & Low Ropes/Challenge Course, Lake Ecology, & More!
CAMP LOCATION: We are located 35 miles west of Milwaukee, WI on 306 acres in Waukesha County with 1750 feet of waterfront along Lake Keesus.
CAMP FACILITIES: Camp Whitcomb/Mason facilities include:
* New swimming pool and bathhouse in 2014!
* 17 cabins that sleep 18 people each with a central fireplace and meeting area. 9 of these cabins are heated.
* Friendship Lodge is a traditional dining hall facility with full bathrooms, offices, commercial kitchen and three staff apartments.
* James Lodge is a retreat center that sleeps up to 120 people in bunkrooms with a commercial kitchen, meeting space, four staff apartments and is equipped with heating and air conditioning
* Nature Center with many animal displays and teaching space.
* Art Center
* Petting Farm with small animals that youth can interact with.
* High Adventure Ropes Course with climbing wall and zipline
* Low ropes course for teambuilding activities
* 3 Full Soccer/football fields
* Primitive camping campsite
* Beautiful Lake Keesus for canoeing, kayaking, fishing, paddle boating, and lake habitat study
* 900 foot boardwalk through the marsh with teaching space between two ponds
* Miles of hiking trails through prairie, pine forest and hardwood forest
* Scenic campfire amphitheater with stage area for large group performances or small group campfires
* Primitive fire circle along Lake Keesus for small group campfire or cooking
* Remote pavillion in the hardwood forest for teaching, meeting, playing.
* Centrally located health care center with onsite First Responder
* Three residences where full-time staff live with their families year-round
* Winter recreation shed that houses the snowshoes, ice skates, cross country skiis and tobaggans
* Two outdoor archery areas
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Whitcomb/Mason offers Day Camp programming and Resident Camp programming throughout the summer staffed by 40 seasonal employees and 8 year-round staff.
Day Camp has a dedicated staff that provide programming and play with youth all summer long. Each week has a fun new theme and focus. Day Camp youth participate in activities such as canoeing, swimming, slip 'n slide, ropes course, fishing, art & nature activities, team-buildling, STEM activities, sports, songs, and more.
Resident campers arrive at camp Monday morning and depart camp on Friday afternoon. Two cabin counselors live in each cabin with up to 16 youth. Youth are assigned to cabins by gender and age.
Activities throughout the week include: canoeing, swimming, petting farm activities, art, nature, hiking, campfire, nutrition class, reading time, large group activities, fishing, team-building, rope course, Gaga ball, sports activities, and more.
CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: The LIT Program has 3 different sessions for youth: LEAP- 3-day session for 14 year olds
Two LIT Sessions- 2-week session for 15-17 year olds
LITs will participate in all camp activities and also have trainings centered on leadership and working with youth in the camp setting. All LITs will have the opportunity to be assigned to a cabin and assist with cabin programming.
Our LEAP Program is designed to let 14 year olds with interest in the LIT program have a taste of what it's like! It is offered once, during the last week of summer.
YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Camp Whitcomb/Mason is available year-round for rentals groups and retreats. CWM can accommodate groups up to 380 in beds throughout the camp. Camp Whitcomb/Mason is located on 306 acres of beautiful land along Lake Keesus in Waukesha County. CWM has 1,000 feet of waterfront, pine forest, hardwood forest, prairie, wetlands, recreation space, playfields, high rope course, low ropes course, swimming pool, cabins, art center, nature center, petting farm, winter recreation shed with snowshoes, XC skis, etc.
James Lodge is a retreat center that sleeps up to 120 people with multiple meeting rooms, commercial kitchens, 8 bunk rooms, 4 staff apartments and full bathroom facilities. James Lodge is available year-round and has both heating and air conditioning.
Friendship Lodge and cabins are also available for retreats and camp-outs. Friendship Lodge is a traditional camp dining hall with a commercial kitchen, 3 staff apartments, full bathroom facilities and also houses the camp offices. Cabins located near Friendship Lodge sleep 18 people each. 17 cabins are available throughout camp and 9 of these cabins are heated. Friendship Lodge and cabins are available for rental January 1 through June 15 and August 20 through December 31.
Steimke Lodges sleeps up to 40 people in bunkrooms with full bathroom facilities, a residential-size kitchen where groups prepare their own meals and lounge/meeting space.
User groups have access to all outdoor hiking trails and facilities for programming and can arrange for camp-led program activities such as:
* Teambuilding
* High Adventure Ropes Course
* Climbing wall and zipline
* Canoeing on Lake Keesus
* Swimming in the swimming pool
* Environment education classes
* Archery
* Campfire programs
* Night hikes
and much more!
We can accommodate all different types of groups! We see many school groups, confirmation retreats, church adult retreats, scout groups, weddings and more.

OTHER CAMP INFO: Camp Whicomb/Mason staff participate in a 1-week training program where they participate in educational sessions and activities designed to teach them how to work positively with youth. Sessions include first aid/CPR training, team-building activities, youth development, emergency procedures, transportation procedures, working with youth who are homesick, food allergies and much, much more.
