BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: Summer Theatre Conservatory is a program for students looking for an immersive theatre experience in a professional setting.
CAMP INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED:
Theater, and more.
CAMP LOCATION: We are located within walking distance of downtown Raleigh, next to the scenic Oakwood neighborhood and William Peace University.
CAMP FACILITIES: We have a world-class theatre space built within the historic Murphey School Auditorium. With a thrust arrangement and flexible seating, students will learn to perform in a unique space.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: STC Jr--A two-week conservatory for students in grades 6-8 who want to explore all the possibilities the theatre offers. Students learn techniques of movement, vocal production, and character study in the mornings and apply those techniques in rehearsing an original play in the afternoons, with a culminating production of that play created by the students themselves at the end of the session. Taught by Burning Coal Theatre director of education.
STC Sr.--An intensive, three-week conservatory for high school students interested in rigorous, professional theatre training. Students will learn a wide variety of subjects and techniques in classes with our director of education and guest artists from fine educational institutions and professional theatres around North Carolina.
CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Scholarships available to eligible students based on financial need ($100 discount off full price).
CAMP SESSION DATES & FEES:
STC Jr--Jun 12–Jun 23, 2017. 10 am–3 pm on Monday–Friday
$245 DUE on or before the first day of the program.
STC Sr--Jul 10–Jul 28, 2016. 10 am–4 pm on Monday–Friday
$395 DUE at time of your audition for the play. You will be contacted regarding auditions for the play Romeo & Juliet following enrollment.
