BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: We are delighted to welcome bassists of all ages, levels, and abilities to attend Peabody Bass Works, an extraordinary program providing bass students with unique learning, community and performance opportunities on the grounds of Baltimore’s historic Peabody Institute. Now in its fourth year, Peabody Bass Works 2015 will present a diverse array of offerings for attendees in both the Four- and Seven-Day Divisions. All applicants who have taken at least one year of private lessons, or who supply a note from their current teacher supporting their application, will be automatically accepted to either division.

CAMP LOCATION: The Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University is conveniently located in the Mount Vernon cultural district of Baltimore, just one mile north of the Inner Harbor. Our location provides easy access from major highways, airports (20 minutes from BWI), and both train and bus stations.
CAMP FACILITIES: The Peabody Institute has residence halls located above the Unger lounge and the Peabody Dining Hall. Each fully-furnished double room is equipped with twin beds, a dresser, a mirror, a desk and chair, an Ethernet internet jack, and a bulletin board. The halls also have a common kitchen, lounge appliances such as a microwave, a common television, and 24-hour-a-day laundry facilities. The residence halls are located steps away from the Dining Hall, classrooms, studios, Arthur Friedheim Library, practice rooms and concert halls.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The 4-Day Program, designed for students who have not yet completed the 7th grade, contains a curriculum specially catered to the participants' ages and experience levels (open to daily commuters only).
The 7-Day program, for students who have completed the 7th grade, includes daily private lessons with Peabody Bass Works faculty, supervised practice time, and a variety of faculty master classes.
All participants join together at the end of the week for a culminating concert featuring chamber music and a large bass orchestra.
Faculty includes members of the National Symphony, faculty from Peabody, American University, and Oberlin, and other highly accomplished bass teachers and performers from Maryland and Virginia.
