BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: MiBytes is a series of immersive, hands-on summer camps in computer science for high school students. Each of the four camps offered has been designed by faculty at the University of Michigan with the goal of engaging, educating, and inspiring students who are curious about CS and its impact. MiBytes campers will have the opportunity to learn from faculty, interact with current Michigan undergraduate computer science students, and discover how to express creativity through computer science.
CAMP INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED:
Computers, Science, Technology, Academics, and more.
CAMP LOCATION: The camp will primarily take place in the Computer Science and Engineering building located at 2260 Hayward St. in Ann Arbor. Students will be escorted to several on campus locations for tours and recreational activities, in addition to field trips to tech companies in Ann Arbor.
CAMP FACILITIES: We have state-of-the-art computer labs and lecture project space where students can work and collaborate to express their creativity through their projects.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: This camp is inspired by an older camp, Camp CAEN, that was very successful. It was stopped when it's director retired and now a new camp is reviving the same spirit that established Camp CAEN in the community. Recreational activities are planned to give campers a unique blend of the college experience, the University of Michigan campus, and a taste of Ann Arbor city. These activities include meals at the dorms, campus tours, and field trips to local tech companies.
CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Partial scholarships available for students who would be unable to attend without a scholarship. Scholarship applications are available on our website: Our Camp Website Link: mibytes.eecs.umich.edu
FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): Parents are invited to a final expo session where students present the projects they created at MiBytes camp. Students and parents will have the opportunity to bond with other participants and browse what they created.
