BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: Kimberly Farms Sleepaway Summer Horse Camp for girls offers the opportunity to immerse oneself into horsemanship, horse play, trail riding and horse care as well as many other fun activities.
For over 25 years we have offered fun, enjoyable and relaxing horse experiences to each and every guest, young and old in the beautiful southwestern Vermont countryside. We take pride in our horses and our ability to cater to all ages, groups and riding abilities. Our horses are of varied breeds small and large, some have been saved and given a new life at Kimberly Farms.
CAMP INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED:
Horses/Equestrian, Wilderness/Nature, and more.
CAMP LOCATION: We are located off of Rt 7A through Shaftsbury. Please see our website for extensive directions from any location at: Our Camp Website Link: www.KimberlyFarms.org.
CAMP FACILITIES: We have a rustic bunkhouse that holds fifteen for our sleep-away campers (air conditioner, refrigerator, kitchen and dining table included), a counselor's cabin, a barn, 2 riding arenas, and a gorgeous mountain trail.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our riding program involves every aspect of horse care. Campers learn how to tack and groom horses and how to care for them. They learn how to take care of a barn. Most importantly, they learn how to ride: campers ride twice a day, both with saddles and bareback. We accept all experience levels, no experience necessary! Our certified riding instructors place an emphasis on safety and fully learning to control the horse. After riding in the arena, campers will learn to ride up the mountain trail.
Campers also take hikes, play games, learn fully about horses (we play horse trivia at the end of the week), and do arts and crafts.
CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: We offer volunteer programs in which volunteers work in exchange for the ability to ride our horses. We also offer a CIT program in which you can work your way up to a paid counselor position.
CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Financial aid is given on a case-by-case basis. You may also want to check out Our Camp Website Link: www.GallopToSuccess.org, a program that raises money for scholarships to send at-risk youth to camp.
YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: We always offer trail rides, lessons, birthday parties, and other custom events with our horses year-round.
