BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: Since 1954 our rich and diverse outdoor activities have helped campers aged 6 – 17 gain self confidence, develop leadership skills and grow socially and spiritually. Our Christian environment is an intentional integration of Biblical values and activity. Customized programs are taught by positive role models in a small group fun atmosphere. Residential camp program – Walkerton, Ontario. One week sessions through July and August, $449 per week.
CAMP INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED:
Fine Arts/Crafts, Horses/Equestrian, Swimming, Waterfront/Aquatics, Team Sports, Adventure, Wilderness/Nature, and more. Archery, Mountain Biking, Nature Studies, Survival Skills, Trampoline, Fishing, Kayaking, Canoeing, Rowing, Leadership & More.
CAMP LOCATION: DIRECTIONS TO CAMP CHERITH: Walkerton is shown on your Ontario road map, south of Owen Sound, west of Hanover, east of Kincardine and north-west of Orangeville. Once in Walkerton, proceed across Durham St. (Hwy 4) to Yonge St. and turn north. Follow this road over the bridge and continue for a distance of approximately 5 - 6 km. Watch for the camp sign (arrow) on the utility pole at Concession 6 and follow this road into Camp Cherith. (Keep to the right at the forks in the road.) We look forward to your visit with us this summer.
CAMP FACILITIES: 18 modern camper cabins, Dining Hall, Recreation Hall, Barn, Situated along the bank of the beautiful Saugeen River, Outdoor campfire rings, 2 washhouses with hot and cold running water, numerous activity buildings, olympic size pool
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Since 1954 Camp Cherith's rich and diverse outdoor activities have helped campers aged 6 - 17 gain self confidence, develop leadership skills and grow socially and spiritually. Our Christian environment is an intentional integration of Biblical values and activity. Customized programs are taught by positive role models in a small group, non competitive and fun atmosphere. Camp Cherith provides children with a community of caring adults, who nurture experiential education that results in self-respect and appreciation for God and His creation. All of the outcomes - self-identity, self-worth, self-esteem, leadership, and self-respect - build personal competencies.
CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Leadership programs:
CILT (grades 10 and up)
Over this 2 year program campers will develop a solid understanding of God’s truth for their lives. CILTs learn leadership skills for use at camp and in their home communities
Junior Leadership (grades 7 - 9)
Along with traditional camp activities, this program offers practical instruction in goal setting, responsible decision making and positive peer interactions
Canoe Trip (grades 7 and up)
An out-trip experience on the Saugeen River one of the premier canoe routes in southern Ontario. Build character, self-confidence and develop leadership skills.
FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): Mother Daughter Weekend
Father Son Weekend
Camp Cherith values the parent-child relationship. That's why we offer our very special Mother-Daughter and Father-Son Weekends. A weekend together at Cherith can strengthen an adult-child (or teen) bond in ways that few experiences in daily life can. It's also an incredible opportunity to connect with God through worship in a tranquil, natural setting that proclaims the wonder of his creation.
OTHER CAMP INFO: Camp Cherith is more than something to do when school's out. It is an essential component of your child's healthy development - physically, emotionally, socially and intellectually and spiritually.
