CAMPER AGES: Age 6 through Age 14

TYPE OF CAMP: Day Camp. 1 Week Sessions Available. Monday-Friday. 8:30am - 4:30pm with before and aftercare available.

CAMPER GENDER(S): Coed Campers.

BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: Surrounded by nature, Bynden Wood's outdoor mountaintop facility provides campers with a unique summer camp experience. We offer a wide range of activities and we are one of the only Day programs in Berks County that offers swimming in an outdoor pool every day.

CAMP INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED:
Music/Band, Fine Arts/Crafts, Basketball, Soccer, Horses/Equestrian, Swimming, Tennis, Volleyball, Adventure, Wilderness/Nature, and more. Bynden Wood Day Camp Activities Include:

CAMP LOCATION: We are located 50 miles west of Philadelphia off of Interstate 76. We have 600 acres of mountaintop for our campers to explore and a rich history to grow on. Please visit our website for camp photos and videos.

CAMP FACILITIES: The Bynden Wood Day Camp has its "home base" in the historic Bynden Wood Lodge and Auditorium. Facilities used by our Day Campers include:

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: We welcome you to the mountain and invite you to share in our Fire of Friendship, determined in our belief that every person shares the potential to grow in wisdom, to discover their unique and independent voice, to nurture others and to engage their communities. The fun and challenging programs we offer foster communication, trust, problem-solving and deeper spiritual connections, while preparing young people to lead and be led. The South Mountain YMCA Camps are more than a series of camping and retreat programs on the mountaintop, they are a way of life – a philosophy – that are exciting to explore and easy to embrace. CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: We do not offer LIT or CIT program as part of Bynden Wood Day Camp. However, our sister program, Camp Conrad Weiser, does offer such programs please visit this website for more information at: Our Camp Website Link: www.smymca.org.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: We do offer financial assistance for families who qualify. To apply, please visit our website.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: We have a rich offering of year-round activities that include: Environmental and Outdoor Education programs for schools, Family Camp Weekends, Weddings, Birthday Parties, Equestrian Lessons and much more. Visit our website for more information.

SUMMER CAMP JOBS:
The counselors have the most direct impact on a child’s experience at camp. We are seeking dedicated, fun, enthusiastic staff who understand that “Campers Come First.” Counselors must be at least 18 years of age or have graduated from high school. All counselors will teach in one of our program areas and co-lead a cabin of 8-12 children. Pay is $250-$275 per week depending on experience.
