BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: Archaeology Adventurers campers work with professional archaeologists to uncover the buried remains of a 16th-century Spanish colony that mysteriously disappeared more than 400 years ago. They also explore the ancient history of North Carolina’s native cultures through hands-on activities, excavation, artifact analysis, ancient technology demonstrations, experiments, and more.

CAMP LOCATION: Our camp is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains near Morganton, NC.
CAMP FACILITIES: Overnight campers stay in our air-conditioned archaeological field house and laboratory with bunk beds and bathrooms. The archaeological site we excavate is in an open field near a shaded stream where campers can relax and cool off. Shade tents are provided in the field.
