Campers have the opportunity to build new skills and participate in a variety of camp activities with campers their own age. Programs are developed with skill progression and age appropriateness in mind. Two-week camps also include an overnight trip away from camp.

Spring Break Overnight Camp (5-13 years)

Spring Break Camp is perfect for kids who can't wait until summer to go to camp! Campers enjoy an action-packed week of fun, including canoeing, archery, arts and crafts, ropes courses, hiking, drama, campfires and much more. Evening programs include skit nights, campfires and large group games.

McNabb Camp (5-8 years)

The perfect introduction to residential camp, McNabb Camp offers younger camper a chance to experience all of our traditional camp activities during a four-day/three-night experience. As this may be a camper’s first time away from home, we ensure the focus is on creating a comfortable environment for children to make friends and learn new skills.

Sailing Camp (11-14 years)

Campers receive three hours of daily instruction from qualified instructors on our fleet of Hobie Cats and Lasers. Campers work on White Sail levels and learn practical theory on topics such as rigging, repair and care of boats, dealing with emergencies and wind dynamics. Campers also participate in a variety of traditional camp activities.

Black Tusk (12-14 years)

Campers will spend four days hiking this incredibly scenic area surrounding Garibaldi Lake in the heart of Garibaldi Provincial Park. This hike is perfect for children who are new to out-tripping and are looking for a new challenge. Campers learn team building, form friendships and develop leadership skills in a focused team building tripping environment.

Desolation Sound (13-15 years)

Campers experience an eight-day canoe trip through one of the most beautiful wilderness settings in Canada. Canoeing builds confidence and introduces young people to a variety of skills including teamwork and wilderness living. Campers work with the group and contribute to the planning and execution of the trip. This is a perfect pre-leadership experience for any camper.

Family Camp

Family Camp gives families the chance to spend time together, reconnect and relax. During your stay, you’ll participate in a variety of camp activities including organized programs for children, adults and the whole family. Whether you’re coming to our summer session to enjoy the sunshine or to deepen your relationships with one another over a holiday weekend, Family Camp is a great opportunity for families to escape the city without the hassle of pitching a tent.

*Camp Elphinstone also offers day camp in the summer and on Pro-D Days

Campers spend their days participating in sports, games, waterfront activities, archery, high/low ropes, arts and crafts, theme days and other special events. Campers also enjoy a nutritious and well-balanced lunch.

Many of our campers grow up to be part of our amazing YMCA staff team and our two-year Leadership Development program is designed to help them achieve this goal. Once completed, participants have the skills needed to lead and support others at camp and at home.

Leadership Development 1 (15-16 years)

LD1 campers focus on learning technical skills associated with camp, including kayaking, canoeing, ropes courses, sailing (Camp Elphinstone only) and team building, while also participating in an out-trip experience. This two-week program offers youth a chance to build strong and lasting friendships in a positive and constructive setting. Group cooperation, self-discipline and personal initiative will help campers succeed in this program.

Leadership Development 2 (16-17 years)

LD2 campers use the skills gained in LD1 and apply them to leading others. Campers learn about communication skills, teaching, group dynamics, child care, team building and risk management. Campers experience an extended out-trip during their stay and grow as leaders through new camp challenges. Emphasis is placed on learning about working with campers, with periodic placement in the camper cabin over the month-long session.
