CAMP LOCATION: Camp Chief Ouray is located on the 5,000 acre Snow Mountain Ranch (elevation 8,750 feet above sea level) approximately 80 miles or 1 .5 hours northwest of Denver, Colorado. Plan on 2 to 2.5 hours of driving time from the Front Range area.

CAMP FACILITIES: Camp Chief Ouray has grown to be a premiere overnight camping option for boys and girls from all over the United States. Whether your camper is a first timer or has attended various residential camps before, CCO provides a unique opportunity for independent development in a caring community.

We are dedicated to growth in spirit, mind, and body, in an outdoor setting and Christian environment. We are committed to developing five core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Faith for daily living. Explore and grow through a strong tradition of quality programming and fun and make life-long friends in the process.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our camper-to-counselor ratio ensures that your child will receive personal attention in a family-style cabin environment.

Camp Chief Ouray conducts an intensive multi-part interview process. This includes multiple criminal, professional and personal background checks on each applicant to ensure that we have the best possible staff working with your child.

As Colorado's longest running summer camp, we have more than 100 years of tradition and experience that will ensure your child has a positive camp experience.

Our programming offers a wide variety of activities and our "Freedom of Choice" programming allows each camper to create their schedule. Our Leadership Training Programs for teens are among the best in the country.

With 5100 acres of mountains, streams, meadows and trails we really are nature's playground and a great place for your child to learn all the great opportunities the outdoors have to offer.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: LIT is the first step in the program, and it is for students who have completed the 9th grade, but not yet 18. During two weeks at camp, each group of LIT's will venture out on a 4-day/3-night backpacking trip, participate in activities around camp, live in a tipi village, complete a service project, and work with our day-camp program.

The SIT Program provides campers who have completed the 10th grade (but are not yet 18) with an incredible opportunity for skill development in an outdoor setting. The participants will embark on a 5-day/4 night backpacking trip in the Rocky Mountains, a 4-day/3-night rafting trip on the Upper Colorado River and mountain biking adventures in Fraser, CO while gaining valuable skills and instruction. Like the LITs, SITs live in the Tipi Village while they are at camp. Participants will complete 1-2 service projects around camp or in the community.

The CIT program is for participants who have completed the 11th grade and are genuinely interested in acquiring the skills necessary to be a camp counselor. The group will participate in a 4-day/3-night backpacking trip in Rocky Mountain National Park, a one day raft trip on the upper Colorado River, a CPR/First Aid certification course, a Leave No Trace certification course, and a week long training program similar to our staff training. The final two weeks are spent observing and assisting in the leadership of regular camp programs.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Camper Scholarships to attend Camp are available on the basis of financial need. You can download the application on the Camp Chief Ouray website.

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): Round up the family and get away to the beauty of the Colorado Rockies and the good ol' days of summer camp! Parents, grandparents, teens and children enjoy traditional camp activities. Together you'll learn new skills, bond through teamwork and create lasting memories. Bring the entire family for a good dose of summer camp magic!

OTHER CAMP INFO: Camp Chief Ouray has always been a place of strong bonds and relationships. We have a leadership team that cares deeply about camp and giving each child the experience of a lifetime. Camp Chief Ouray is staffed with a year-round Camp Director, Assistant Director and a Registrar. They are joined on a seasonal basis by college graduates and students to fill many important roles in the counseling and specialist positions.

- Camp Chief Ouray understands the importance of positive role models for today’s young people. We carefully recruit, select, and maintain staff for their enthusiasm, maturity, skills and ability to display wholesome values for our campers.

- Staff members are chosen through a detailed application and interview process. All staff backgrounds are checked against the Central Registry for Crimes Against Children and the Colorado or Federal Bureau of Investigation in accordance with Colorado licensing requirements.

- A well-trained, enthusiastic staff is crucial to an exciting and unforgettable camping experience. Each staff member undergoes an extensive and professional training program together in preparation for our campers’ arrival. We emphasize group dynamics, child development, teaching methods, outdoor living skills and safety and health including certification training in First Aid, CPR and Wilderness First Aid.

CAMP LOCATION: Extreme Sports Camp is located in the Roaring Fork Valley between Glenwood Springs and Aspen. Many of our activities take place throughout the valley as well as Rifle, New Castle, etc. Our office is located in Carbondale, CO, about 30 miles from Aspen.

CAMP FACILITIES: Our camp facilities vary depending on the season and programs that are in session. During the summer months, Extreme Sports Camp stays at Colorado Mountain College Spring Valley Campus in Carbondale, Colorado. During the Fall weekend programs, Extreme Sports Camp meets at their office in Carbondale and participates in activities throughout the valley. The winter program takes place at Snowmass Village and Ski Resort, specifically at the Viceroy.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our staff at Extreme Sports Camp are educated and experienced in working with individuals across the autism spectrum and at any level of athletic ability. Certifications within the staff vary from Teacher Certifications, Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, Behavior Specialists, and Vocational Rehabilitation.

Extreme Sports Camp is embarking on their second winter season as a PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of America) school for autism.

Our mission is to enhance the health, social engagement, and personal growth of people with autism through challenging, attainable, and enjoyable recreational, athletic, and work programs.

Unlike their typical peers, children and adults with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) have few opportunities to experience the more advanced, age-appropriate activities which truly challenge them. Extreme Sports Camp provides this opportunity and the underlying instructional approach to realize it.

ESC believes that learning any activity is best accomplished through sustained and repeated immersion, coupled with the expectation that the participant can in fact progress to the next level. We have chosen activities that can be extreme to an ASD child but which can also be mastered by that child through incremental learning. The activity provides an intrinsic motivation to learn and work, and the staff of ESC provides the specialized instruction to enable the camper to succeed.

Extreme Sports Camp was founded in 2004 in Aspen, Colorado.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Scholarship applications don't have to be submitted at the same time that you register- the earlier we receive them, the better!

If your child lives in the local area (between Aspen and Parachute) and you want to enter him or her into the camp for respite reason, you may be qualified for assistance from The Valley Autism Assistance Fund, a charitable initiative of the Aspen Valley Foundation that provides monetary support to local families with members on the autism spectrum. Please see the Aspen Valley Foundation website for more information and application instructions.

External scholarships are available as well. Autism Care and Treatment Today offers scholarships to families, with priority going to military families and families with more than one child affected with autism. See This Website Link for more information.

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): During our summer programs, we offer a Family Session, where families are able to come stay overnight and participate in the activities with their children.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Extreme Sports Camp offers a fun, rewarding, and challenging overnight sports camp that provides the opportunities and support for children and adults on the autism spectrum to progress in active sports. Our staff is experienced in working with individuals across the spectrum and at any level of athletic ability. We know that people with autism can succeed at recreational sports they just need the chance and the appropriate instructional approach.

Whether your camper's goal is improving athletic ability or building friendships and deepening social skills, Extreme Sports Camp has what you need! Participants experience sports activities each day that include wake boarding, water skiing, tubing, biking, rock climbing, white water kayaking, climbing on a ropes challenge course, hiking, and swimming.

Activities are repeated throughout the week to build skills and confidence. At our base camp at the Colorado Mountain College Spring Valley campus, ESC offers supplemental activities in a social environment such as yoga, games, movies, therapeutic drumming and dancing, and music in the park, as well as low-key athletics such as disk golf and field sports.

We also now offer an adult-specific program lead by a dedicated Adult Team Supervisor. This program includes our regular sports plus employment-skills enhancement. Depending on the individual's skill level, participants can assist our counseling, logistics and sports instruction staff, or they can focus on fully-supported development of discrete job tasks.

Training is in the outdoor sports and recreation field in an ASD-friendly environment and is fully individualized. Our location on a community college campus facilitates age-appropriate living and working away from family.

ESC is known for its winter ski/snowbard programs and summer camps; but we don't just disappear during the spring and fall! Our weekend program runs throughout the school year, offering a variety of outdoor (and some indoor) activities throughout the Roaring Fork Valley to small groups of no more than seven local participants from Aspen or the Roaring Fork Valley.

The program is designed for individuals anywhere on the autism spectrum from age six and up. Our pioneering methods combine relationship-based, social-emotional supports, embedded motivators & positive reinforcements plus sports proficiency instruction & analytics are effective for ANY skill level!

At the Winter Day Camp, we enjoy 5 days of skiing and snowboarding at Snowmass, Colorado, one of the worlds premier family-friendly ski resorts just a few miles outside of Aspen. The private lesson option pairs campers with Aspen Skiing Company instructors trained in working with persons with autism. Because it is a 1:1 program, private lessons allow for greater flexibility and convenience for participants than the camp program while still providing them the same quality ski/ snowboard instruction. Families that want their students to enjoy a lesson with an Aspen Ski Company professional instructor while developing their social skills in a mainstream environment can request to sign-up for our buddy-supported group lessons. Supervised by an ESC buddy, enrolled students will participate in one of Aspen Skiing Companys group lessons alongside neuro-typical learners of the same age group and skill level. The buddy-supported group lessons package includes assistance from an ESC buddy throughout the day.

Improve Basic Life Skills! Adult Participants improve their social, vocational, daily living, and athletic skills with Extreme Sports Camp's trademark 1:1 support.
At ESC, we know that there are limited resources available for adults with autism after leaving school to facilitate their entry into the outside world. But adults with autism want to live dignified lives, just like other adults! So ESC has joined the growing national and global adult autism support movement by offering assistance and opportunities for young adults to integrate themselves in the mainstream Aspen and Roaring Fork Valley Community.

We learn vocational skills through job training and job hunting with our HIRE Adult Program, social skills through age-appropriate activities such as dining out and going to concerts, daily living skills through community living in ESC's camp house in Carbondale, Colorado, and athletic skills through ESC's classic athletic activities such as swimming, wake boarding, and hiking. Our approach is thus holistic, attending to every aspect of our participant's maturing personality, and communal, incorporating participants into all facets of life in the valley and promoting community autism awareness.

We recognize that people with autism are as multifaceted and are social beings as much as anyone else.

OTHER CAMP INFO: Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp invites you to join us for an outstanding opportunity to share in the love and joy of God's family. We are an outreach ministry of the congregations of theRocky Mountain Synod, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. We are located in the heart of the San Isabel National Forest of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The majestic wilderness becomes an excellent setting for growth and renewal.

We encourage campers to make new friends and develop new skills while discovering their gifts and growing in their faith. The strength of our ministry is that Christ is the center of all we do. Our Bible Studies for 2014 are based on the theme “Forgiven: A Better Version of Me.” In the New Testament, Jesus talks about forgiveness, about forgiving ‘seventy times seven.” We have received the ultimate gift in the forgiveness of our sins and the salvation that we have received through Jesus Christ. So what does it mean for us? Are we good enough for God to forgive us? Can we forgive ourselves?

What about when it comes to forgiving others? These are all questions that we will wrestle with during our week together. When we live in the forgiveness we have received from God, we will be transformed; we will be different. How can that change our world, not only at camp, but especially when we come down the mountain?

And how will that forgiveness make us better versions of ourselves? Our summer staff is carefully chosen and well-trained to provide excellent Christian role models for youth. Come spend a week with us this summer! We're eagerly anticipating your arrival!

CAMP SESSION DATES & FEES:
All sessions are week long, beginning June 9th. We focus on a specific age group each week. Regular week of camp is $405. We also offer half week sessions for younger children. Those sessions are $200. See our website for specific week information.

Our coaches and site directors make a significant difference to your childs on-field experience. Chosen for their strong personal character, responsibility, and capacity to effectively communicate sports skills to youth, our staff will make the extra effort every time to ensure that your children have the best on-field/court experience, emphasize teamwork, and learn life skills through sports. Our staff are required to complete our extensive certification process.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: We offer financial aid for those families that qualify. Please call 1.800.804.3509 for an application.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: We offer year round programs in select states, please see our website for complete information on all Skyhawks Sport Camps in your area.

OTHER CAMP INFO: Skyhawks Sports Camps are SAFETY FOCUSED!

At Skyhawks we go the extra mile to focus on safety, and we have a long-standing proven safety track record and processes to prove it. For example, all Skyhawks Sports camps start and end with our unique safety process called Gate System and Parking Lot Duty. This process is where coaches come and greet both parents and campers in the parking lot when parents pull up to drop off their children.

Our staff guide the kids onto the field/court and out of harms way by funneling them into our gate system. Eye contact is maintained from each one of our staff members until the kids make it onto the field/court where they are grouped by age. This efficient process ensures safety. Additionally, it develops a level of trust between parent, coach, and child that ultimately leads to a fun and skill-focused camp for youth.

CAMP SESSION DATES & FEES:

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Summit Camp is a co-ed sleepaway camp for ages 8-19 years with issues of attention: AD/HD, HFA/Asperger’s Disorder, and/or learning differences. Using the frame of a traditional sleepaway camp, we create platforms of success where our campers can experience outcomes such as improved self-esteem, lasting friendships, and increased independence.

This is accomplished through a well-orchestrated and expertly staffed backdrop to a largely traditional camp experience- guided challenges, waterfront, adventure course, and more. It is our goal and desire to take our campers from observing peer interactions to engaging in them, to learn and celebrate their own strengths and successes, and to feel a sense of belonging and shared community with those around them while they are with us.

Our Teen Travel program extends the Summit community to provide a safe yet exciting adventure to one of our many attractive national and international destination tours offering 14 day and 19 day excursions.

Summit Weekenders provide a youth-group style social retreat for adolescents to have an oasis of independence, enjoyment, and success during the school year months.

Regardless of the specific program, Summit provides an expertly staffed, highly structured, and truly fun experience for our youth, and has been doing so since 1969.
