More than 6 months ago. Contact camp for the latest 2016-17 camp info.

CAMPER AGES: 8 to 17

TYPE OF CAMP: Overnight/Sleepaway. Overnight

CAMPER GENDER(S): Coed Campers.

CAMP INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED:
Dance, Theater, Fine Arts/Crafts, Horses/Equestrian, Swimming, Waterfront/Aquatics, Team Sports, Adventure, Wilderness/Nature, and more. Rock Climbing, Mountain Biking, Backpacking/Outdoor Living Skills, Leadership

CAMP LOCATION: The camp is located in California's splendid Tahoe National Forest, 1-1/4 hours north of Lake Tahoe, on the peaceful headwaters of the North Yuba River and adjacent to the Lakes Basin Recreation Area with dozens of pristine mountain lakes and miles and miles of hiking, biking, and horseback trails. Please visit This Website Link or call us at (866) 597-6617 for more information.

CAMP FACILITIES: The facility is rustic, in keeping with its wilderness adventure program. Participants sleep in cabins and large traditional tipis. There is a bathhouse with private showers and flush toilets. In addition, there is an administrative building with the camp's office and health center, recreation hall, dining hall, bike shop, arts & crafts hut, pool, volleyball court, archery range, challenge ropes course, horseshoe pit, disc golf course, and a camp fire area including a stage.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The camp's focus is on helping children 8 to 17 take another step toward becoming happy, healthy, well-adjusted adults.

We promote positive youth development through a program that includes many of the summer camp classics, such as arts & crafts, archery, camp fire, dance, drama, games, swimming, etc., plus exhilarating wilderness adventure activities, such as rock climbing, mountain biking, mountain boarding, horseback trail rides, hikes, backpacking, etc.

We also offer three specialized program tracks in which kids who love rock climbing, mountain biking or outdoor living skills (backpacking) can really focus on those activities.

In fact, our program has so many fun activities kids can't do them all in a single week! After a day of team building fun and games designed so kids get to meet and know others, kids sign up for activities every other day. They are not locked into a block schedule. Rather, they can sign up for the activities they really enjoy, or to be with friends. After all, when people think of camp, they think of fun and friends.

And our camp is so confident that your child will have fun, it offers a money-back guarantee. If your child doesn't have fun, we'll refund your money. No questions asked. (See the web site for details.) We don't know of another camp that backs its program with such a promise.

But fun isn't even the best part of camp. While kids come to camp the first time for all the great activities, they return for the magic. They simply feel exhilarated and nourished from their experience. This springs from our focus on youth development, with activities designed to help kids:

* build self-esteem and self-worth by contributing to their community,

* develop self-confidence by trying new activities in a criticism-free zone and acquiring new or improved skills such as in rock climbing, dance, paddle boarding, drama, or mountain biking,

* increase independence by successfully living away from home and making decisions for themselves such as what activities to pursue and even designing their own activity period,

* gain in understanding of others who come from different regions of the world (children and staff have come from virtually every continent on earth, including Antarctica where one of our staff member help build the research station),

* nurture an enduring sense of adventure, unafraid to try new things, springing from all the opportunities at camp, the encouragement and the lack of criticism by both peers and adults, and

* enhance an appreciation of nature by unplugging from electronics and living in a beautiful living, breathing forest.

When you mix all these positive developmental attributes with fun and friends in a beautiful mountain setting, you get all the ingredients for magic.

We think this contributed to Outside Magazine naming Shaffer's High Sierra Camp as one of its five favorite camps in the entire country. And with a money-back guarantee, you can't go wrong.

Don't settle for just a fun time when your child can have a life-changing experience. It's one of the best gifts you can give your child.

Watch our video (This Website Link) and then give us a call. We'd love to talk to you!

P.S. With room for just 70 campers at any one time, sessions fill. Don't be left out. Call today!

John has been inducted into the VYSA Hall of fame and recognized by NSCAA with a lifetime achievement award. John now resides in Florida, but still shares his passion for the game with those around him.

Today, Soccer Academy’s programs reach out to some 5,000 players each year. From four-year olds just learning the game, to 14-year-olds dreaming of playing for the U.S. National Team, to 18-year olds preparing for a college career, players of all abilities can benefit from a Soccer Academy program.

Many coaches have also benefited from Soccer Academy, countless members of staff have started their coaching careers, in the ranks of Soccer Academy, April Hienrichs & Jill Ellis are currently full time staff with US Soccer in roles influencing the direction of girls youth soccer in this country. Mark Godwin, Dean McAlpin, Rob Olson, Steve Lovgran, David Yates, Barry Hill, Myron King and others are all currently working as Directors of coaching in State Associations or clubs sharing the Soccer Academy philosophy and vision with its members. Many others, Julie Shackford, Ron Raab, Jay Entlich, Darren Ambrose, Katherine Mertz, Sue Vodicka, Linda Hamilton are all currently Head Coaches at various Colleges and Universities throughout the country.

Soccer Academy also has gained a strong reputation as a reputable resource for club and league administration and development. Over the years, Soccer Academy has consulted with dozens of clubs, advising them on how to implement player and coach development programs, how to run tournaments, how manage growth and mergers.

As Soccer Academy moves into its 32nd continuous year of providing soccer education we still hold onto the belief that “Winning is to Learn”

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Marin Ranch Camp is Marin County's premier residential adventure camp. We're known for our core values of Friendship, Adventure, Community, Tradition & Safety.

We offer a fun and engaging camp program where any kids entering 2nd - 8th grade (LIT for 9th - 12th) can hike, swim, boat, explore and play. A place where children can be themselves while participating in traditional, good old fashioned summer camp activities.

At Marin Ranch Camp, the opportunities to engage with nature are limitless thanks to our lake, river, organic garden, farm animals and hiking trails spanning over 1,700 acres in beautiful West Marin.

Sure, we do all the traditional camp activities like canoeing, archery and a ropes course to name a few, but it goes much deeper than that.

We believe in the power of our sleep-away camp.

We recognize the importance of providing children with a space where they can get away from the pressures of everyday life and experience freedom from stress and over-scheduling.

Our caring and thoughtful team helps each child have the best possible experience by acknowledging them as an individual with their own strengths, challenges, fears and passions. Campers are provided a space where they feel safe to step a bit outside of their comfort zone and challenge themselves by experiencing new adventures.

We hold a deep understanding of the incredible transformation that occurs when kids attend our residential camp. We support them as they learn and grow in a new and encouraging environment, away from the familiar surroundings of home and family, and we welcome them into our loving community where it is safe be yourself.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Our high school campers are Leaders-in-Training (LITs). Campers in this program will get the same great Marin Ranch Camp experience, with many added responsibilities and activities. Kathleen's summer & holiday vacation horse camps aim to teach children (ages 6-16) about the wonderful world of horses. Through horse-related games and activities, campers learn about the care of horses, their characteristics, breeds, colors, and safe handling--both on the ground and while mounted--in a fun-filled environment. Children are supervised by trained staff and counselors and learn horsemanship skills from horses suitable for the young rider. Kids Horse Camp is designed for all levels of riders--from a child's first experience with a horse to an experienced youth rider who shows hunter-jumpers or dressage.

Kathleen's camp is both an educational and recreational experience focusing on HORSES. We offer a variety of camp activities, which include playing HORSE games, grooming HORSES, riding HORSES, feeding HORSES, learning about horse health and nutrition, HORSE crafts, bathing HORSES, watching HORSES, oh and of course, more RIDING HORSES!

There is a strong focus on camper participation, safety and leadership. As campers become comfortable with daily routines, they are encouraged to contribute and given opportunities to assume more leadership responsibilities. Those interested in expanding their horsemanship have opportunities to assist riders and learn about teaching skills.

Kathleen Elliott teaches skills and promotes confidence in horse care, safety practices, proper equitation and the joy of the relationship between horse and rider. Because our camp is a non-competitive, skills-oriented camp, we pride ourselves on giving our riders sound, safe information and practice with horse care and riding.

Our Summer HORSE PROGRAM is a fantastic way for children to learn about horses and riding as well as develop more proficient and nuanced riding skills. We have lots of fun riding and caring for some very sweet horses. We offer lessons in Western, English or bareback, which start at beginning levels but provide an opportunity for kids to advance based on their ability and experience. Each child is evaluated on his/her riding ability and placed in a group comprised of those with corresponding ages and skills. For kids who like horses, nothing can create memories of a lifetime like attending a quality Horse Summer Camp. We invite your child to enjoy all the fun a quality horse summer camp has to offer while improving their riding skills and their knowledge of horses at the same time. Summers spent at a riding camp can create friendships and experiences that your child will cherish for years to come. This Season's Summer Camp will have exciting demonstration's, horse related games, crafts and more. Our coaches and site directors make a significant difference to your childs on-field experience. Chosen for their strong personal character, responsibility, and capacity to effectively communicate sports skills to youth, our staff will make the extra effort every time to ensure that your children have the best on-field/court experience, emphasize teamwork, and learn life skills through sports. At Skyhawks we go the extra mile to focus on safety, and we have a long-standing proven safety track record and processes to prove it. For example, all Skyhawks Sports camps start and end with our unique safety process called Gate System and Parking Lot Duty. This process is where coaches come and greet both parents and campers in the parking lot when parents pull up to drop off their children.

Our staff guide the kids onto the field/court and out of harms way by funneling them into our gate system. Eye contact is maintained from each one of our staff members until the kids make it onto the field/court where they are grouped by age. This efficient process ensures safety. Additionally, it develops a level of trust between parent, coach, and child that ultimately leads to a fun and skill-focused camp for youth.

WINTER (OFF-SEASON) OFFICE ADDRESS:
PO Box 1078 Groveland, CA. 95321

CAMPER AGES: 11-18

TYPE OF CAMP: Overnight/Sleepaway.

CAMPER GENDER(S): Coed Campers.

BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: Our outdoor summer camps are our specialty. We offer a 5-day program for younger participants ages 11-13, and a choice of a
6-day or 11-day program for youth ages 13-17. Our goals include providing unforgettable experiences that intimately connects each youth with nature, themselves, and the greater world around them in Yosemite National Park!

SPECIAL NEEDS CAMPERS: Lasting Adventures, Inc. strives to give outdoor experiences to ALL youth. If a child is physically capable of participating in our Yosemite backpacking adventures, then we are able to accommodate most special needs.

CAMP INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED:
Swimming, Science, Adventure, Wilderness/Nature, and more. Adventure Based Programming. We Participate In Fun, Challenging, & Significant Events & Games, Providing Support Throughout.

CAMP LOCATION: We operate throughout the Yosemite backcountry. All youth trips meet in Tuolumne meadows which is approx. a 3.5-4 hour drive from the San Francisco Bay area. All trips end in Yosemite Valley proper.

CAMP FACILITIES: We teach respect for yourself, others, and the environment through a Yosemite backpacking adventure. Participants camp and sleep under the stars or in tents. We move locations and hike daily. We learn about nature and challenge ourselves to become better contributors in this world!

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our outdoor summer camps, also known as the Yosemite High Country Adventure youth backpacking trips, are our specialty. Our weekly programs are six days/ five nights in length and average between 25-35 backpacking miles. These trips usually begin in the Yosemite High Country and conclude in Yosemite Valley proper. On all trips we conduct some side hikes (without backpacks) to famous sites and peaks (such as Half Dome, Clouds Rest, El Capitan, Mount Hoffman, and Red Peak).

These day trips average another 6 to 10 miles. Every other week we offer a different trail. So if you would like to choose a two-week adventure (13 days/ 12 nights) by combining two sessions; your child will be guaranteed to see different terrain each week. Additionally, by choosing the two-week option, your child will have a layover day in either Tuolumne Meadows or Yosemite Valley proper where the participants will partake in more sightseeing opportunities. During this layover day, participants will also have a chance to re-supply, wash-up, and eat some fresh food at a local eatery.

Throughout the adventure, participants will be guided along some of the most famous trails and to the top of some of the most famous passes and peaks within Yosemite National Park. Our experienced leaders have an extensive knowledge of the Yosemite backcountry. In addition to taking our participants to many of the famous locations, our leaders will also guide participants to lesser known areas that we have found over the years such as off-the-trail high alpine lakes (where fish are plentiful), backcountry waterfalls, alpine meadows, spectacular vistas, watering holes, cliff jumping areas, and natural waterslides.

On most trips, we backpack every day but one (a lay over day and location is usually agreed upon by the team) and we are on the trail for an average of 4-5 hours. Most of our trips go from a higher elevation to a lower elevation and throughout the experience we take our time, take in the views, and break at awesome watering holes. Yet, viewing the Yosemite backcountry is only one of the many outcomes that occur on these trips.

Our primary mission is to use the natural environment and outdoor activities to teach participants the necessary skills and attitudes for living successful lives. We also strive to foster an appreciation for the wilderness, nature, and the world around us. In addition to unique individual backgrounds and certifications, our leaders are all trained in Adventure Based Programming. Through Adventure Based Programming, participants will be challenged to improve their sense of self-esteem, self-worth, and self-confidence. Participants will participate in daily goal setting, group activities and debriefing (usually mixed in with marshmallows around the campfire.) This is all done within an environment of fun and support.

All participants will also learn basic backpacking skills, wilderness ethics, wilderness appreciation and engage in Leave No Trace principals. Along with creating lasting memories, it is our goal that participants will finish this adventure with a greater knowledge of themselves, the world, and the environment around them.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: We develop Yosemite Guides! We have the only Junior Guide program in Yosemite. Open to youth ages 16-18 with a passion for the outdoors and helping others. 2-4 week sessions.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: We are a non-profit! We offer scholarships on a sliding schedule. Please complete our Scholarship Application located on our Forms page.

SOARs programs are designed to allow students the opportunity to increase their independence while away from home. Independence is gained through self-motivation and life skills instruction. With this in mind, we involve our students in many decision making processes, such as setting individual goals, developing group guidelines, as well as trip and meal planning.

Our staff is, comprised of the best children's chess instructors in North America! The USA Chess camps are uniquely qualified to cater to the needs of the advanced scholastic player as well as the true beginner. USA Chess hit its first milestone in the summer of 2000 producing the largest chess camp ever held in the United States, with more than 250 students enrolled. What was most surprising, however, was the amount of absolute beginners in attendance - more than 50% of the total enrollment was just starting to play chess. This realization led to the national rollout tour of 100 camps in more than 70 cities. The annual tours have been immensely successful with several thousand campers attending this year alone.

USA Chess thrives on providing a structured environment that is extremely conducive to learning chess. We handpick the best children's chess instructors from all over the United States and bring them to each camp. We believe our team is most effective in teaching chess to children of all ages and levels. The exceptional organization and ever-fun curriculum has fueled much interest from scholastic players and coaches from around the country, prompting them to request USA Chess camps in their areas.

At the same summer camp locations, we also offer the immensely popular Gamebuilder Video Game Creation Camps, The Active Learning Computer Animation Programs, and other Computer Enrichment Programs such as Modding, Networking and Hosting with Minecraft. We now offer seven unique programs in all.

At these camps, children are assigned a computer for the week; they spend the week learning to create their own one-of- a- kind video games in our Gamebuilder Camps, Animation Projects in our Animation Camps, also Modding, Networking and Hosting with Minecraft.

Historically, our strongest offerings have involved Computer Science Robotics. However, we are always adding new topics, with a growing emphasis on other aspects of STEM. Career opportunities in STEM fields have grown three times faster than in other areas over the last decade, yet the U.S.ranks at the bottom of the developed world in graduating new professionals with STEM majors.
